I've been patiently waiting for news on THPS3 remaster after 1&2, kinda forgot... Random Google this evening, and found out this nonsense!

https://kotaku.com/t...

I'm really sad that so much gaming history from my friends and I was never recorded or preserved (very cherished and insanely awesome memories). So many stories... Reality is, we never thought of that stuff back then. Thankfully, I managed to make a recording of a kickass THPS3 run a lifetime ago, even though it wasn't my best one.

When the remaster came out I dug out my old PS2 and could not find the save anywhere, I was devastated. Thought it was gone forever. I busted out the PS3 and found it on a virtual memory card, and I was able to move it to my pc!

Such a great time in gaming history. Yet I wish I had recordings of Goldeneye, Halo, Soul Calibur, and so many more competitive matches.

I've been looking forward to revisiting this and breaking this once and for all, but this new, sucks!

My hope is that MS buying Activision Blizzard will create some opportunities undo some of the bad decisions that have been made to some really fantastic teams and IPs. Vicarious Visions did such a good job and could have added in some great things to really solidify a streaming community around THPS 1+2

It's an absolute no-brainer to push forward with THPS3+4. Even if it's a slightly reworked group of folks and not the exact same team, I think it's still feasible. To acquire and then shut this down is horrible business.

I don't know what anyone expected but Activision was going full throttle on Call of Duty, no matter who they acquired, what studio currently was working on which. That's now their entire legacy is Call of Duty and they're putting everyone to that.

I hope Microsoft just tones down the investment on Call of Duty. It's not everything.

They'd look moronic for sleeping on Vicarious Visions, who've done incredible work for Crash as well. I didn't know they did THPS4 for the PS1, Spider-Man 2 for PS1 which wasn't a bad follow up (I think not many liked it compared to the first game)

Well at some point, I plan on moving over to the Xbox Team within Microsoft so hopefully I can carry over real feedback!

It'd be such a shame not to work on the other THPS. This makes me want to go play 1&2 again, but 3 was and will always be, my favorite.

@MrBean good luck. Real feedback at a corporate level that large involves breaking things down to by the numbers and showing how things impact the bottom line.

And speaking to them in middle-school level language, so you know, they can understand. While corporations do speak big words, they usually don't know what they mean.

Haha, this is very true. Charts, numbers, ROI/TCO, mean everything.

I've worked for big companies most of my career, and regurally work with C levels for many years. I'm actively getting involved in more gaming oriented groups to get my name out there and figure out how I can make a transition within the next couple of years.

It'd be amazing to take my 20 years of professional experience and merge with 37 years of gaming experience.

Yet I wish I had recordings of Goldeneye...

I wish I had one particular match recorded. I wasn't the best amongst my friends, but when I got to college I dominated all the Goldeneye braggers that swore they were the best. This one kid skipped class to play Goldeneye all the time. After awhile he challenged me 1 on 1 with our preferred choice of pistols 1 hit kills. After his first kill on me he started executing his gameplan. Spawn after spawn, he had me shot within a second or two. He discovered there was a pattern to the spawning that was predictable so long as a player isn't too close. I always played 4 player and this is not obvious as there is always someone around to spoil the pattern. It only took a couple deaths for me to realize what he was doing. 19 Straight kills he got, all the while I watched. After kill #19 I got my slap in. I had learned the pattern. I rattled off 21 straight kills and won the match. He quit playing Goldeneye for good that very moment, storming down the hall "never playing it again!". It was hilarious.

We must have had a pretty good Goldeneye crew in HS as I was probably 3rd or 4th best amongst our regulars. In college I remained humble as I was used to winning an occasional match, but 2nd and 3rd place was more common. Then I get to the dorms and hear all the self proclaimed Goldeneye gods. It was like taking candy from a baby.

@KCPenguins haha, what a comeback! That's awesome!

Multiplayer gaming will never be as good as it was back then. Pre online gaming, and right at the start of online gaming. Golden era for most of us. Just isn't the same anymore. Especially with all these idiots running around screaming obscenities and cry babies. In person crap talking will always be king.

Wonder if many younger gamers play locally anymore?

We'll see when they get older, but as of now I only let my kids play offline, so it's all local MP.

I really wish I would have recorded more gaming growing up. I feel like Uncle Rico but I legit was pretty badass at games... So many tournaments and local gaming events that I dominated. The one worthwhile thing I kept and published is nearing a whopping 8k views, wooooo!

I know I couldn't do it, but I was wondering how difficult that really was. Then I read the comments and determined it was really difficult.
