I've just recently started playing a patched Super Metroid game called Super Junkoid, which has been pretty good so far. After doing a little researching, I found out about a Super Mario World hack called Sicari, so I went ahead and downloaded that patch as well. Are there any ROM hacks out there that you guys would recommend?

Theres also a Sicari 2 if you dig the first one.
I'd also recommend SMW: Return to Dinosaur Island as well as SMW: Around the World.
There's also an awesome Genesis hack of Streets of Rage 2 called TMNT Shredders Re-Revenge.

Sicari has a lot of good music tracks. Would be nice if there was a description of which tracks were used. I tried searching a bit, but couldn't find anything.

I've spent years trying to hunt down a ROM Hack for Urban Champion that makes the game actually fun. No luck.
just kidding, don't hurt me

Blasphemy! Hold your tongue, simpleton!
If you want to enjoy Urban Champion, you must first find a friend.
Sadly, I fear that you may never know the the joy that becoming an Urban Champion can bring into your life.

I've been teetering making another ROM Hack video. There's so many weird ones out there.
One of my favorites is Smash Remix. It's a pretty big overhaul of Super Smash Bros, adding in tons of new fighters and stages.

I never really stuck with a ROM hack for very long.
I prefer the hacks that make small changes or add quality of life improvements. The hacks that colorize a lot of classic Game Boy titles with Game Boy Color support are awesome, for example.

I always wanted a ROM hack of the SMB game where you could play as mega man or Bill from Contra.
The only ones I played much were from NES/SNES sports games that updated rosters and stats, but they were getting harder to find good ones. Tecmo Super Bowl and KGJr Presents MLB mainly.

I feel like I've played something like this before... Was it a Flash game or something?

Sounds like something that could've been in NES Remix if Nintendo had expanded to third party IPs too.

I think it might have been a flash game at 1 time, but I don't recall ever actually playing it, only watching videos. Not sure if this is the original version I saw as it's not 100% how I remember it.

I used to play a bunch of SNES era RPGs that never made it to the US and that got rom hack translations. Stuff like Bahamut Lagoon

A Link to the Past randomizer: https://alttpr.com/e...
It takes the base game and shuffles all of the treasure chest contents as well as a variety of other options ( https://alttpr.com/e...). I must have played through at least a dozen seeds of this.

Hey thanks! Another couple ROM hack videos are in the pipeline. I've just had a lot going on and need to get the ball rolling.

@nonamesleft Pretty much. There's logic coded into the randomizer to make sure you're never in an unwinnable situation, though. The first run will take you a good long while, but after it clicks it's more fun than replaying the base game.

John Riggs made a hack of Balloon Fight as a tribute to Satoru Iwata:
https://www.youtube....
I have the patch files on both our Retron 5 and Retro Freak (and the Retro Freak even allows for one patched Balloon Fight and one unpatched). The Balloon Fighter becomes Mr. Iwata and the balloons have Kirby faces.
Also, Sailor Moon Another Story for the Super Famicom is a decent RPG, but the language barrier and frankly BS difficulty spikes take some of the fun out of it. It has an improved fan translation and an additional patch available to make the rough parts a little easier.
Alcahest from HAL Laboratory (surprise!) has a solid translation patch available too.

I miss making my translation hacks. I should go back and finish the ones I left unfinished...
Anyway, the only ones I feel confident enough about to recommend are the Un-Worked Designs patches that remove the bullcrap difficulty that Working Designs added to their English releases. Supper, the person behind this, did some great work on fixing the unnecessary gameplay changes. They don't do anything to address the bullcrap script changes, which is unfortunate, but that's outside of this scope's project and would require a lot more time to do.
