Anyone playing? Reviews seem goodish so far. Seems like some are complaining about Souls ish type influences.

Wrapping a second play through of DS2 and debating where to go after. A dozen big games on the immediate backlog but I'm debating AC.

I am on a Soulsbourne kick again and really want to go play DS1 again, or Bloodborne (missed the dlc on both back at release).

I don't think I've played a AC in the past, and this does look cool.

I missed out on the CE, looks pretty badass, but probably for the better!

Going to be getting and 100% this game like all the others. Might go for a tank build or try to be more mobile. If you want more fast paced AC play 4 and For Answer. Verdict Day and V are more complex and less fun to me. 3-Last Raven have better controls and are easier to pickup. 1-2 Another Age have tank controls but are enjoyable but it is easily more difficult then the rest. Sure For Answer last mission against 4 nexts was hard, Last Raven hidden final mission was hard to but the challenges in the OG games are much much harder. Maybe cause of the controls.

My true mech game love will probably always be Virtual On.

I’ve been playing since launch. It’s only souls like in that it’s got difficult bosses. If you have the right gear they are mostly trivial- kinda like mega man. The first chapter may be the hardest stuff by far- especially with the learning curve. There are some Uber tanky builds you can create pretty early in. Usually the difficulty is from staying focused and not fudging the complex movement system for me. It’s ok so far. Seems more “fair” than most souls stuff. I’m probably half way through.

The first boss, the attack helicopter was a pain to beat. I eventually learned hiding behind cover and taking potshots would not work. I noticed it was deflecting my attacks and learned two important things. Melee does great damage to it and staying under your enemy can be an easy way to win. I personally preferred using the 2x Plasma Rifle cost 202k and 2x missile launchers with a heavy leg build for chapter 1. I stuck with the machine guns then burst rifle until I unlocked them and upgraded my missile launcher based solely on damage. A tank and strider build would probably work to and with it getting past chapter 1 is easy. Melee only build seems impossible as cooldowns or overheating as they call it would make it difficult. I was hoping based on the trailer I could either go all ranged attack or a melee attacker. I thought it would be interesting to play the game as if it was a bullet hell but sadly I don't think that is possible.

It’s kinda sekiro with robots. The key is stagger asap with concussive shoulders then sap then with dual wield guns. At least that feels like the sure fire way so far. I’m at end of first playthrough.

Helicopter is difficult because you don’t have a build / awkward etc for sure.

Just finished up. Not sure I’m going to try to S all the levels. I cannot stand timed defense objectives and not sure it’s healthy to try that… I cannot leave a platinum incomplete though. Ugh.

Wow. Some of these missions are freakin epic. This reminds me of ace combat type missions but much more intense. On my last playthrough - I think?

Sounds like it's been a great game so far? I'm hoping at some point to get it started next week.

It’s pretty great. Took awhile to get the controls down. Using the different weapons etc is lots of fun. There is always a way to win if you have the right gear. It’s not nearly as hard as you’d expect- and it’s very satisfying to melt mechs.

@Feeb just got the parts shop. Being that this ia From game ... i question if upgrading early is worth it vs. waiting. Any general advice on building?

Just pay attention to why you’re dying where you need to hit an enemy / from how far etc. example - one of the fights is armored on 3 sides- hit it from above? Get behind it quickly? Generally the highest HP parts are best early- get quad / tank to hold the weight. Weapons you want shoulders to stun ASAP and high fire rate hands. I rec dual wielding shotgun / machine gun and gatling gun when you can. Use strong / slow shoulders- stun, melt, repeat. I do not use the melee stuff at all. I’m mostly through NG++ and pretty comfortably handle most stuff. I have needed a complete rebuild a few times.

No melee? Seems like the heaviest hitter early on. Interesting.

I’m sure you can make it work if you want it. It’s disorienting and unreliable for me. I feel much more comfortable with a little space. When I used it I only used it on a stun.

Seems people have gotten all melee to work and mods make it more like Armored Core 4 and For Answer now. I should have gotten it on PC as I think I would prefer that style. People even beat the game with fist, assault armor and kick only.
