Time to find a new home for these. I don't wear cufflinks nearly as often as I used to. Figured I'd see first if anyone on here has an interest.

The wraparound cufflinks have some fraying. I don't know what the material is. Maybe leather?

When my uncle died, his widow gave me several pairs of his cuff links. I felt really cool when I was wearing them, but I can't recall the last time I had a shirt that took cuff links. I'm not sure if I have any of them.

I just finished reading Variable Star. This is a story outline from Robert Heinlein that was finished by Spider Robinson many years after Heinlein's death. Robinson was given a pair of cuff links that had belonged to Heinlein. He had a shirt altered and wore the cuff links while writing the book.

@Tony

I tried finding the cufflinks you mentioned. Couldn't find them. I found an article from 2004 that mentions the cufflinks, but doesn't describe them.

http://www.spiderrob...

"Similarly, sweet Amy sent me a set of her grandfather’s cufflinks to wear as I type VARIABLE STAR"

Any idea what the cufflinks looked like?

Robinson tells the story in the book where he describes how the "collaboration" came about, but there is no picture nor does he describe them.

The ones I had were all metal. Some were a mesh wrap around like the leather ones above, and some were like knots. The only shirts that accepted them were high end dress shirts one would wear with a suit and tie.

Yes, metal mesh. I still have them and a few others, but I can't post pictures here because I don't use any online photo hosting. I just looked for images of metal mesh wrap around cufflinks and saw the prices for vintage cuff links. I might have to put these on eBay soon.

Another great fashion product from the boss of cool clothing. If I still owned a shirt that used these I’d grab up those dawgs and peppers. Thanks for offering them up.
