Anyone collect these, I work at a bank, and come across some cool stuff every now and then? Bought this yesterday

Condition seems pretty good, like it was in someone’s collection.

I’d be willing to sell or per usual trade it for games

Figure I’d post here firsts before Mercari or offer up

I forget, is a note with a star a bill that was replaced and the original destroyed, so SN# reused and noted with a Star?

Yes a bill that has been replaced due to being unusable, typically here at the bank, when we get damaged bills by our customers or the atm eats them, we ship them back to garda.

As I understand it, there isn't much of a collector's market for paper money. I worked for McDonald's in the mid-70s and we got a few Silver Certificates and even a Gold Certificate that the manager called the police about because he had never seen one and thought it was counterfeit. I kept one each of $1 and $5 Silver Certificates just because they were unique.

This site says to enter the serial number to see how rare the bill is: https://www.mycurren...

In case anyone was interested it sold for 73, the auction above, I still have it, along with 2 silver dimes and a 1990 proof nickel that I got as well if any interest.

I have pictures if needed
