Anyone have issues with one brand versus another? Anyone know if certain knock-off brands are just repackaged name brands?
I've had 3 SanDisk cards get corrupted over the years, but 0 Samsung or PNY cards fail. I'm guessing 1 may have been counterfeit, but the other 2 should have been purchased from legit retailers (not Amazon). Just random bad luck, or did anyone else experience this?
All three were corrupted in cameras or phones. None hit for viruses with updated anti-virus software at the time.

I hate Sandisk and always go straight to Microcenter to pick one up from their brand. Nice thing is they always have a free one every year via coupon. Probably like 12-30 Sandisk failures, one Kingston failed and two Microcenter failed.

My only options in town are Sandisk or Onn unfortunately. Nearest MC is 4+ hours away unfortunately.

Online poo too. Amazon, Newegg, Walmart all shady...
BestBuy has Samsung on sale. Maybe see if I can get free shipping.
Edit: So does Samsung. Also, coincidentally I just realized all 3 failed Sandisk cards were 64gb purchased years apart.

Honestly it's a crap format and there is a lot of random luck of the draw. I've had big names corrupt quickly but then on the other hand a random 2gb kingston that I got with my very first ds flash cart still works and I'm currently using it in something else.

I don't think I've ever had an SD die on me, but the one I have in my Switch is kinda slow. Was really noticeable during the Mario Kart tournament ar Akaicon.
Regular tracks loaded up all zippylike, dlc tracks to 20 seconds or so

I've had zero issues with any brand (or no-name brand) except on Switch. I've had 2 different cards give me issues. It appeared like when the system went into suspend the card was still being read or something, which made the next download I tried fail. It required removing the card, a few reboots, put card back in, reboots, and eventually I could get things to DL again. But this has happened several times with 2 diff cards.
We completely reformatted 1 and re-DLd everything we needed and it has been working ok since. But outside of the Switch I've never had any issues with SD or micro-SD on at least 20 devices at this point. I have used Sandisk and Viking a lot fwiw.

I've had little experience with microSD cards (one in a tablet and one in each of our phones) and have never had one fail. I did have an issue with the capability. I had to get a "faster" one for my wife's phone.

I’ve been supporting tech for decades and I’ve only witnessed drive and memory card failures from PNY.

The only brand of SD card I've had issues with is Samsung. I've had 3 different cards have issues. But, to be fair, I've used Samsung way more than any other brand.
