So back in December I bought a new router... I hooked it up and noticed we still had spotty wifi signal up stairs so I was looking for a way to fix it. Tried range extenders with the previous router and it was just a pain in the ass. So I bought a Asus RT-AX55 on a Black Friday deal... well it did not cost me anything as both my wife and I got $700 in BestBuy gift cards when we got our phones.... Took it home and still had the same issue, but when I bought it I noticed it supported Mesh networking. Did some reading and I could just take another router that supported it and hook it up and it did not have to be the same. So I bought a Asus RT-AX1800S and got a super good deal on it. So I tried for a week to set it up in a Mesh network configuration, followed the instructions, youtube videos you name it.. for some reason the RT-AX1800S would not work. The box said nothing about Mesh networking but I remember seeing a review that said otherwise and then there was something about the American and Canadian versions of the router and I basically just said screw this lol I was going to sell the other router and move on.

Fast forward to last night, I had been having an issue with casting Youtube to my TV via Chromecast basically it says restricted mode is on but the option is clearly turned off. One of the steps led me to my router and noticed that I was using the cheaper of the Asus routers I had and that it had a pretty decent firmware upgrade and the Asus app also got a bit of an update. So updated it, immediately thought about the Mesh thing and forgot about my youtube issue. I need to read over the firmware update again but whatever it was that was updated fixed the issue and was now FINALLY supper easy to setup. I know have the main router downstairs next to all PS5 and the other router (Mesh node) upstairs in my bedroom for now and I have 100% signal throughout the house.

I did not forget laughing out loud just took awhile but I ended up spending $69 on the second router instead of spending in upwards of $500 Canada bux but hey now I have my wifi issues solved.

Mesh was life changing for me. My Orbi router (RBK50) just died last week and replaced it with a TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro. Can't imagine not having mesh throughout the house, the tech is great.

I've also been on the XE75 Pro with 3 units and it's been really awesome. The 6ghz backhaul works very well and every device in my weird shaped house gets great speed and coverage.

It’s been a few days now and the Wifi calling is working soooooo much better, that alone is probably the biggest win. Being able to call my wife when she is at home is nice.
