I've posted about this before, but I was gifted 3 charizard cards through a junker from an original collector (of that era). Looking them up, 1 seems worth peanuts, the other maybe a decent sum, the third looks original. Apologies for the crappy Pic, but wanted to get some opinions and what to look for.

Yeah, don't want to get screwed by someone local, yet don't want my kids to destroy it. Decision, decisions...

The one on the left appears to be a first-edition Base Set 1 card (shadowless?). This one you will want to take especially good care of, as it's the card that launched a thousand bullies back in 1999. First, you should take it to a reputable local game store and make sure it's legit.

The one in the middle is a 25th Anniversary Celebrations reprint, the most recent one.

The one on the right is from Base Set 2 (the first of the Wizards of the Coast reprint sets; the second is Legendary Collection, home of the tacky refractor reverse-foil cards that everyone seems to like but me).

Seriously though. Get those cards graded by either PSA, BECKETT, or CGC

If they grade the far left charizard a PSA 10 you could get a house (card valued at 288k as of 3/14/24)

Is the one on the right worth getting graded? Not sure if there is discounts on multiple. Also is 1 of the graders better than the other?

As I said before, these were gifted to my kids. It's been hard keeping them from them, but I knew 2 were likely worth something thanks to a TV show or Youtube video. Pawn Stars, Dude Perfect? If I wasn't observant they'd have ended up on the floor like the rest, likely worn and bent.

Edit: Clicked the Wiki, now understand the process. Sounds like it might be worth doing gen 2 as well.

Edit 2: Holy crap the prices to get graded at PSA if valuable!

I am a bit baffled by this. I can't even find the card on Beckett, which as far as I can tell is $40 in advanced. The other two seem to charge whatever they feel like based on their values after making a determination.

I think the far-left Charizard is this one: https://www.pricecha...

eBay example

I quickly browsed those card grading sites, one of which you don't have to pay upfront for them to grade...

BTW...I hope you take whoever gave you that card out for a steak dinner or something if it turns out I'm right about this

I'd hold them from the kids a bit longer, and at least figure out if that far-left card in the picture could end up being their college tuition or something lol!

I'm excited for you, like talking with someone who just hit the jackpot at the casino

Yeah and unfortunately the PSA is the most widely recognized. I'd create a support ticket and see if they can do anything for you if I was you: https://www.psacard....

worst they can say is no, and try to get a clearer picture for them cause you can include pictures when you generate a ticket.
