For those of you planning on playing, what is your main pawn vocation?

I was thinking we could all share our pawn info here, what system we are playing on and our username/tag for that system. So we can add each other and rent/use each others pawns for no cost while also helping each other earn RC. We had a post like this 12 years ago for the original game as well. So some of us might already be on each others friends list.

For those that didn't play the first or do not know how this works... (just in spoiler tags for a cleaner topic, not actual game spoilers)

You can rent pawns on your friends list for free. There is no currency cost (rift crystals).
This is regardless of the pawns level compared to yours. So even if their pawn is 30 levels higher than you it is still free as they are on your friends list.
For any pawns not on your friends list, you have to pay RC (rift crystals).
The ones close in level to you are usually fairly cheap. But the farther way in level the more they cost.
In the first game after 10 levels above the cost jumped pretty big. Anything lower level than you is free no matter what.
There will be some pre-made ones that will be free and a bunch of lower level ones that cost basically nothing populated by the devs.
Those are there to let people get a full party early before you earn any RC yourself.
But using another persons pawn gets them RC in return, and experience for their pawn. Not the cost you pay. This is based on how long you use them, how much xp they earn while in your party and how you rate them at the end.
You use your pawn at all times. Even when others are using it.
After someone uses it and releases them, the next time you check in at an inn or camp site, you get the rewards from them using it.
You are also asked to send a gift by the game, which is optional after using them.
Most people send you consumable items or things to sell for money. But some will give you good armor or weapons if they found your pawn useful.
So using someones pawn from your friends list can benefit you both. They get RC, and you get a better than basic level entry pawn. However, not on day one.

Are you playing this weekend? I'm still undecided on mine. I've made two mages and an archer. But I'm not sure which one I'll use. Or if I want to switch them to a fighter. I've spent too much time in the character creator making pawns over the last week. Game drops in 10 hours or so and I have no idea.

I made my main pawn a tank in the first so I’ll probably do that again. My main character will be a mage for sure

PS5. Still don't have a gaming PC. I keep putting off because of other random expenses.

Added a section at the end of the OP for a list. If you want me to add your pawn just post the info.

You made me very interested in the game with this post. Never played the first one but the review of this game looks great, might pick it up once it comes out.

I’ll keep this thread in mind for when i do!

So I made a pawn I like for a warrior type tank, but then I asked my wife to make a character for me, and she made her look amazing. But she’s smaller and idk how well a smaller character would be as a tank. It’s been awhile since I’ve played and I know weight and height matter for stats, but how much does it really matter?

Not completely sure in this one. But the first it was for carry weight and stamina. Smaller characters couldn't carry as much, but they had better stamina. Faster regain and slower loss. So they could run and fight longer without needing a break. And apparently this game is way larger. And a lot people who have already played say stamina is a pain in the arse in the begging. So I think having a small fighter will be fine. You can always use the other pawns for storage.

I have this preordered and will be playing it tonight but I haven't done any real thinking on what my pawns will be.

Haven't had time to mess with the character creator yet, but I'm pretty sure my Arisen is going to be a Mage this time around as well. Probably go Fighter for my main pawn. Heading out of town tonight but I'll jump in when I get back on Sunday.

So after making a bunch of characters in the creator, all human. I just deleted most of them and made the pair I'll be going with. Both Beastren, the cat people. I'm going to be a fighter named Lionel (Lion-O). And my pawn is a mage, Cheetara. Thundercats, HO!. laughing out loud

Game is really good so far. I played for just over 3 hours last night. Staying up way too late, so this morning sucks for me. Should have taken the day off.

I ended up changing from being a fighter, because its so boring to play, to a mage myself. For now. And changed my pawn from a mage to archer. I forgot how unfun the fighter class is. And I actually think I might switch to the thief for the daggers. I don't understand why they split this out from the ranger class from the first game. Ranger in the first game was fantastic with having both the bow and daggers.

Also settings tip, go into the settings and adjust the camera closeness under camera settings. Its way too damn close to your character. I moved it all the way to the right and it still feels a bit too close at times.

Apparently the game is getting user review bombed because of micro-transactions? Claiming the game is pay to win, in a single player game? What? I didn't see this when playing last night. The game doesn't show you anything about them in the game. But after looking it up, it has the standard jrpg nonsense on the platform stores. So who cares? Why is it bad for this game but okay for every other jrpg all the sudden? The internet confuses me so much.

Yea, it's getting review bombed on Steam big time...down to a 'Mostly Negative' rating.

PCgamer article does a good job of explaining how easy it is to find most of the stuff Capcom decided to put microtransactions on.

Just another way to bleed money from the customer on an already full retail-priced game. Maybe not a big deal for gamers like you or I that won't spend the money, but someone somewhere is buying this stuff. It's just a money grab. Very little protection for consumers on this type of stuff, so I tend to side with the consumer.

Review bombs are also from the bad performance.

I have a top of the line PC with a 4090 and I rarely see above 60 FPS @ 4k. This is the worst performing game i've played with this PC and that includes most new releases.
