Where Has HybridCRoW Been?

I've just finished my 2nd week at my new job. I was hired by TekSynap in June/July with a August 21st start date to work as a Computer Operator. I've mostly kept it hush-hush because of the stuff that's been going on on the backend of the hiring process, but it finally happened. I finally got an IT job. The drive isn't bad, and the job is VERY MUCH less stressful, but the main issues right now are the gas and mileage I put on my vehicle. I've got a few touring appointments to apartments/studios near where I'm working to try and move closer before winter hits.
As for moving, my biggest issue is if they had called me 3 weeks earlier to offer me a job, I wouldn't have had to renew my apartment lease for a year, so now I have to deal with the whole "breaking lease" stuff. If it were possible, I'd just break the lease and not pay the fees, but due to the nature of my job, it would not be a good idea.
So anyhow, that's what's been going on with me lately. I'm just working on a routine, getting settled in, and hopefully move closer to avoid the drive and such, particularly in the winter.

Congrats on a new job! But man, breaking a lease could suck. Hopefully you can do the thing where if they can find a new renter to replace you quickly it's no big deal.
Computer Operator is not a title I've heard before, what do you do? Data entry kinds of things? I'm playing Destroy All Humans 2 right now and the https://www.teksynap... animation just makes me think of the Jack Nicolson alien I've been playing.

Unfortunately, that's not how it's going to be for this case when I break my lease. I signed an "addendum" back when I first moved in 4-5 years ago. So it's one reason why I'm trying for closer to fall/early winter move so I won't have to pay more in the fees.
I believe Desktop Support would be a more accurate description, but it's a good starting point to get job experience. Right now I'm mostly collecting hardware, moving hardware, setting up hardware, until the backend stuff gets taken care of and then I can go through the training on Desktop Support. When I'm not doing that, just going through computer-based training.
My long-term goal is to work in digital forensics, it's possible to make it happen in 5 years. My short-term goal right now is finish what I started for the CCNA program I completed by actually getting the CCNA certification, then I'll move on to CYSA.
Teksynap encourages growth and I think one of the reasons is because they're a contractor and it'll help get positions in other contracts when contracts you work in are completed, or maybe even before the contract is completed if you have the requirements.
Interesting thing is, I actually applied for their Entry Level PC Technician and interviewed for, but the manager that interviewed me wanted to hire me for Computer Operator position instead.... which meant more money and because I got my CompTIA Security+

Hell yeah, congrats. Hope you crush it.
As far as the lease situation you could weigh the cost of gas + convenience factor against continuing to pay for that apartment (if you can't get out of the lease). Hopefully that works out for you.

Thanks all! I am liking the job so far for sure and hope to gain a lot of experience from it while pursuing my goal.
The lease thing is definitely a pain, and I'm also learning of other issues that are coming up and I'm doing my best to tackle them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Hopefully this new chapter will not be over before it has started. I always manage to figure something out.

Unfortunately, it won't be alcohol for me. I can't drink anymore. Learned the hard way a few months back at a friend's house and I only had 2 beers (well below my usual rare consumption).
