I was browsing the snack options. So many tasty options 😋. I'm impressed with how they posted a nutritional info tab on each item, ingredient label and all.

Try reaching out to all the assisted living /nursing home places around you. Activity Directors are in charge of making good experiences with the residents and enjoying boxes of GS cookies are definitely a way to do that. Especially if she would deliver in uniform to the residents.

A few well placed emails could result in some good sized orders. Hope it helps

Great choices. Those penguins are fun. They could have just made it any regular shape, circles or whatever, but no, they went with 🐧:)

Enjoy.

It's fine because I love penguins. I think these are focusing on winter/Christmas gift giving based on peppermint bark, penguins, etc. I wonder when they'll ship. I paid extra for ice, but if it's cool I probably won't have needed it, hah.

I don't think Girl Scouts do cookies for the Fall stuff... it's mostly just chocolates, trail mixes, etc...

I'm still curious how long this will go for as I didn't see any info or got a response.

Cookies will be around Dec-Feb depending on how the council does, last time they delayed online ordering. The fall catalog doesn't include cookies sadly, but ill post it when its available.

Girl Scouts stuff is so much better ... I am dreading having to hawk boy scouts popcorn, what a gdamn racket that crap is. Overpriced, and not that great. I think we gotta sign up tomorrow, first time we've had to do it, not looking forward to it.

Yep, I want out of cub scouts. Had our meeting last night and I'm a bit fired up.

The kids not only have to join a minimum of three, two hour store front sessions but hawk the crap in any means possible (friends, family, online, door to door, etc).

They "earn" a 3% return rate in Amazon gift cards. Sell $1750 in popcorn and get a $60 gift card!

Only 40% of the sales supports their den, rest is funneled up. THEN they have spend $150 for membership AND buy their own uniforms. Like what in the actual fudge? Shouldn't sales of this insanely overpriced popcorn go to both their dues and outfit? What a gdamn racket. I don't feel ethically sound contributing to child labor.

Are girl scouts this bad?!?

Holy crap... what a racket @MrBean ... I think I'll avoid mine. My oldest is autistic and would have a hell of a time verbalizing to sell stuff. I mean it might do him some good, but honestly it is just more work for me and I'm already SO TIRED between my business and therapies, school, baby. You know the struggle with kids!

What a crappy return for all that work too and a bad product to sell. I mean I sort of get wreaths. If a kid came to my door in Nov to sell me one I would buy it. I love the smell. But popcorn... I might eat a handful and it'll just rot after that. Cookies are always accepted, girls got it easier for sure but I'm sure the fees/costs are about the same.

@sinnie - I would assume there are exceptions given the circumstance. They don't "have" to push door to door/online sales, but my understanding is that they have to join 3x 2 hour sessions for local store front selling.

Not to mention the popcorn is silly overpriced, and not great. I've bought it from friends kids in the past ... like $10-$15 for a small bag.

I just sent a message to our scout leader, asking for clarification, maybe I'm missing something. The more I read though, the more I'm finding similiar threads about the whole thing feels like a f'ing racket. Modern day mafia in the form of popcorn, haha.

I do hear girl scouts aren't that much better, but at least the customer is getting something of higher quality for a smaller admission fee.

Reality is, the BSA/GSA should just push donations. If they get $20 donated, 100% is realized by the local pack. If they buy $20 in popcorn, they get $8 and the consumer gets a crap product. Clearly they won't push that though, because that doesn't funnel money upward.

Oh, when I was a weeaboos, we definitely had to buy our own uniforms... My mom was our Pack Leader for a year I think and it was a bit frustrating because she had to buy the patches and stuff to "reward" the Scouts. There were fun times, don't get me wrong, and while the whole point of selling stuff is to work on certain skills... it was ridiculous when there was a requirement on it.

The popcorn wasn't bad when I was younger... so I guess it's changed since. I wasn't big on the wreath selling though.... oh and then there was the food drive... exhausting and the bags easily ripped.
