I pulled the trigger and got myself a genesis. Ive already added most of the games i can remember playing to my want list. I want more recommendations! Im sure theres more good games. Or some hidden gems.

Shining Force 1 & 2 for sure. Warsong/Langrisser is also fun. Not console specific, but Sunset Riders and Uncharted Waters are also enjoyable.

Comix Zone rules so hard. Frustratingly hard without save states but still fun and the aesthetic is great. Pure 90s gritty comic goodness. Really short if you can get past the difficulty. Still a recommend imo.

A lot of good games were already mentioned but the Desert Strike series and SF2 Champion Edition are nice to have too. Mortal Kombat if you want a 16-bit version with blood. Shining Force 2 is excellent; got pretty far in it years ago but never finished it. I'll get back to it at some point.
