Quadruple Gold Good Trader

I just completed a trade with a new member here, VegetableMan87. It seemed very suspicious to begin with. The trader was offering me a game worth 4 - 5 times the price of what he wanted from my listing. I counter-offered with a more reasonable trade that was equal in value on both sides.
The trader made some unusual remarks during the trade negotiations such as "To be frank, though, I don't really care that much about this junk", "Do a lot of people still like old game cartridges?", "Basically as I surmised. With so many compilations and clones being released, the old copies became kind of obsolete. And you know something? These games are cheap anyways. I must have been a pretty stupid kid to play games so much instead of study".
The trader had 1 other trade under his belt which seemed to go well, so I agreed. I received the game very quickly and in good condition (a cartridge, Mickey Mouse's Adventure ). I sent him his game which was in great condition, and tested (a CD game, Rayman Greatest Hits version PS1). I packed it in a box instead of padded envelope because I felt something wasn't right.
He received his game today, completed the trade, but I received this message afterwards: "Fudge you. You're a dookie head. I know you scratched the game on purpose. Well, now it's just some shattered plastic in my trash can. Enjoy Mickey Mouse's Adventure!"
He rated me Speed: excellent, Courtesy: excellent, Honesty: poor
I don't know what to think. Possible mental issues? A young child perhaps?

Yeah this is one of the more bizarre things I've read in awhile. Will definitely avoid this user.

To be frank, I think you got trolled. Just odd he actually sent the stuff and agreed to the trade. I guess it is also possible he just literally doesn't know the value of retro games. A lot ex gamers or more casual folks assume they are old and worthless.

Certainly sounds weird but I stopped listing games as Excellent condition because some folks have unreasonable expectations and don't mention it beforehand. I've seen a few "I'm a collector, this isn't good enough" remarks which I always try to make right, but you never know.

Yup. Very good is as high as I go just because some people are super picky. Some folks expect 100% flawless condition is something is listed as excellent.

If you are one of those people, you need to buy in person so you can inspect before money changes hands.

I once had a trader here ask me- after receiving a disc based game-“ what am I supposed to do about this fingerprint on the disc.”

I considered offering a copy of my prints to verify whose print it was- but politely suggested that he clean it off instead.

To be honest, if I see excellent condition I expect it to not have scratches.

But when I care about it, I double check before pending. Something like, "Are there ANY scuffs or scratches?"

Same. I check for prints etc and clean them off if any. I don’t touch my discs in the data side at all - at least not on purpose. Prints aren’t a huge deal to me- but they definitely can affect a laser I’ve been told. It’s more of a reflection of how a disc was cared for to me.

This. I’ve had people complain that an orange original retail sticker was on the outside of the box. Haven’t listed anything in excellent condition in years even when it’s pretty darn close to excellent. Years ago I was in a game shop and they had a super, super beat up copy of Shatterhand for NES and I got it for like $20 bucks. It wasn’t collectors quality by any stretch but fully playable. Got a lot of mileage out of that cart. When I finally beat it a couple times I surprised a buddy and sent it to him. He had always been a video game nut but never looked into all the games we didn’t know about as kids he was so grateful just to get a great game, he also didn’t care about the condition.

Sounds like this trader is well off the reservation.

I prefer my disc's to have fingerprints. Then I can lift them, plant them later and implicate you in my crimes.

If the internet believes he's Eddie Murphy he may as well be Eddie Murphy.

I try to list my games as very good even if they are close to excellent to try to avoid issues like the poster described. I figured VG is a fair/middle ground expectation on a game.

Same with the "it's Zach Gallenifkanicks...no it's actually Robert Redford" headnod.

Back on topic...for people who don't know the value of older games...the locally owned video game store has been getting some of the most amazing trade ins here that they post on Facebook. They offer good cash values but so much CIB N64 and older stuff...and PS1 stuff.

My point was the game was listed in "Very Good Condition", and I was looking forward to listening to it as a soundtrack, but it didn't play in either the stereo or the PS2. Vamanos, muchahos!
