Nintendo says they will make announcement regarding Switch successor sometime over the next year:

https://twitter.com/...

Also confirmed a June Direct but that was expected. Just don't think I've seen them confirm one a month in advance before.

"We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation."

Tempering expectations.

I hope they do more with the Switch 2 announcement than they did with the current one. That says they announced the original Switch in March 2015, which I forgot about since it has been so long, but we didn't actually see anything about it until a year and a half later when they uploaded the official Switch reveal trailer in October 2016.

They should keep it going until it beats PS2 in total system sales. Just to rub it in.

Start with a price cut and announcing some new games then, because a remake of a 20 year Paper Mario game and a decade old Luigi's Mansion ain't exactly doing it for a lot of people. I don't think entries in either series typically are known for blowing up the sales charts and certainly aren't system sellers. Endless Ocean, I do want to check it out at some point in the future, but judging by reviews it was a dud. There's just not much to look forward to and this upcoming Direct needs to change that. At this point they'd be dumb to not just put Metroid Prime 4 on the next console, but it'll probably be cross-gen.

Yeah, they could definitely do with a price cut. Crazy to think it's gone 7 years without a single one.

And a "selects" line of $20 first party games as well.

I think they release one more big release this holiday for Switch with a couple low end releases. New 3d Mario if I had to guess, maybe Metroid Prime 4. The pessimist (realist?) says it will be something along the lines of a Super Mario Galaxy 2 remaster.

My kids begged me for this game. I read reviews, watched gameplay videos. It looks like a slog. They continued to beg, and I had a voucher expiring in a week... so I downloaded it. Made them pay for a portion of it to hopefully teach them the value of $.

Japan gets two Famicom controllers instead of a replica Gold cartridge. And it looks like the Deluxe set will be the only physical, going by Nintendo's online store.

this is the kinda stuff I dig. Really Nintendo is the only one left making a system feel like collecting for. Definitely gonna add it to my collection. Never played the 3DS version.

Deluxe Edition is up at GS:

Free shipping is $59 again (was $79 for a while), so that's good.

I have two WaveBird controllers that I've had since they were released. Unfortunately, after years of use (and my cat chewing on them for some strange reason), the analog sticks are in terrible shape and falling apart. However, after doing some research on it, I found out that the stick on the Wii Nunchuck is identical to that of the WaveBird! Well, I say identical, but not exactly because they lack the rubbery top that the WaveBird controllers have. The good news is that I was able to swap the sticks out with those from some old, cheap Wii Nunchucks and they work like a charm!

(Wish I could find a fix for my 3DS's worn out thumb pad.)

Without the rubbery top, what's the comfort level compared to the original wavebird stick?

The price hasn't gone down, but considering the inflation of the past few years, the cost/value has decreased by quite a bit.

It's not quite as good, but I don't notice it when in use. I'm very happy with it.

In addition to changing out the sticks on my WaveBirds, I was able to have a little fun customizing some Wii Nunchucks. I was able to do this because I bought a lot of five untested Nunchucks of various colors on Ebay for $15.00. Luckily, they all worked! Since I already had two white ones of my own, I took them all apart and mixed the colors. This is what I came up with:

I used to do that mix and match colors with Nintendo64 controllers back in the day.
