I live 10 mins away from the Jags stadium, need to go to a show down there sometime. I tried to get tix for the PPV but they sold out too fast. Would love to see Sting wrestle before he retires.

I saw Sting at a WCW house show during the whole feud with NWO. Everyone was watching the rafters waiting for him to come down, but then he walked out from the back normally lol. He also lost clean to The Giant. (This is when he wasn't even wrestling on TV.) After the match, Giant pulled him out of the ring and carried him to the back. Both were faces. Almost forgot I ever saw Sting wrestle in person until you mentioned it there.

Well the next one is Double or Nothing on May 30th, keep your eyes peeled if you want to try for tickets!

Aside from that, the PPV was fun, I like how AEW comes in hot with the opening matches every time. It makes a PPV feel much more balanced.

I actually did get enough stuff taken care of that I was able to watch some of the show but I stopped during the ladder match just because I was getting tired and wanted to lie down. Now that I hear about this Botchamania worthy ending I had to check it out. I don't know why Kenny didn't get help from any of his buddies in Japan that have been through these types of matches. This seemed especially awkward for the commentary team who didn't know how they were supposed to react but you could just tell they were underwhelmed.

Even if it was only "4 people" (sounded like much more in the clips I just watched) I could understand their disappointment. For many people in the US this is something they've never seen before. Even if the rest of the match itself might have been decent, nobody was expecting them to put on a wrestling clinic, they were tuning in for the explosion. It's not unlike a book, movie or videogame in that if they screw up the ending it could absolutely override any enjoyment you may have had leading up to it.

I think Moxley is the kind of guy whose ego won't stand for this. I bet he's already talked to Tony about doing it again (hopefully for free on Dynamite, even better if they do it next month on the first week NXT will be moved to Tuesday) and hiring people that know what they're doing to get it right. Lots of fans in the IWC are calling for the head of Keith Mitchell who I didn't even know who that is but apparently he's AEW's (and before that TNA's) version of Kevin Dunn. I don't know that he's single-handedly to blame for this but I'm curious who will accept the blame for it.

It took the air out of the place but I'm not about to burn anyone at the stake for a flubbed post-match gimmick personally. I haven't even seen too much actual toxic vitriol or calling for heads, surprisingly. Sure some people are upset but the general vibe on the internet last night and today is more tongue-in-cheek jokes. The overall wrestling community seems to be over it for the most part, but there will always be those who take anything not perfect personally for some reason.

The Cagematch aggregate score site has the show overall at a 7.11 and that match in particular a 7.85 (and it had been slightly above 8 for a while), so judging by that sample size, it doesn't seem the botch really affected many folks' overall opinion of the show.

I can understand being disappointed if you were there live but otherwise I don't doubt they'll be able to move past that ending sooner rather than later. They SHOULD have definitely called an audible and stopped Kingston from selling it like death though, that's what really made it come off so bad for me.

The pyro botch might not even make it into Botchamania because AEW is getting all the clips they can find of it removed with copyright strikes.

And supposedly that was supposed to be the match that got Moxley written off of TV for a bit so he could stay at home with Renee (like Seth did last year when Becky was preggo) but like I said above I think Moxley is going to try his hardest to let them make up for it in some way.

If they want refund for botch, then refund $2 for a minute of botch not $60

personally i didn't really care, i just sort of laughed and said they messed that up and moved on. me personally i'd have rather just seen a kenny vs moxley straight up match. i was more disappointed in seeing the good brothers bumrush the ring, but kenny being a heel i suppose it makes sense :). although the explosion attached to the barbed wire bat they brought in was pretty sweet.

I thought that bat explosion and the rope explosions were done really well. Obviously not legit explosions but they worked really well for the entertainment aspect. It was really just those closing seconds of the PPV that were rough.

Agreed that a normal singles match would have been nice, and that the Good Brothers probably shouldn't have interfered.

Somewhat related, I love the way AEW presents the relationships between wrestlers. It's not like most promotions where heels only help heels or vice versa. We've now seen Good Brothers help the Young Bucks, who are faces, AND Omega, a heel. They're not pretending there's no friendship among guys the entire world knows there is, at least not without first running an angle on TV to get them there. I think that's pretty cool and it's refreshing.

yeah that's a good point. every time the good brothers help the young bucks, i'm just waiting for them to kick their ass instead. but the friendships are known and noted.

Here's more info on the WWE Network's shift to Peacock. WWE Network will cease on April 4 in the US.
https://www.theverge...

Here's a little TL;DR on some of the more disappointing news:
- Your current WWE Network account won't transfer to Peacock, you will have to sign up separately. There's no mention of what WWE intends to do for people who used pre-paid cards and have months left on their account still.

- Don't expect all of the old WWE, WCW and ECW PPVs to be there on day one. Peacock says they expect to have them available "before SummerSlam". The only exception will be all WrestleMania events will be there from the start.

- Shows won't be broken up to make them easier to skip through to see specific parts quicker.

- You won't be able to search for specific matches or wrestlers anymore, though that feature might come later on.

Sounds like it might be off to a rocky start but they kind of try to make up for it by offering 4 months for $9.99

Use promo code PEACOCKMANIA. Offer Expires 4/9/2021. Must Be New to Peacock Premium

I'll probably do the 4 month deal, especially for Mania, but if they don't integrate some of that missing stuff by that point, looks like I'll finally be without the Network. Been a sub since day 1.

That's pretty badass. Cool crap used to happen at house shows. I saw Undertaker and Austin vs. Kane and Mankind at a house show when I was a kid and they friggin tore the house down. I wish that match (or just the whole show) was filmed, that was some good stuff.

I Went to a house show in college and went to take a leak and Val Venis and D-Lo Brown were walking through the concourse getting a hot dog... Also had a guy dressed as Jericho run into the ring during the match and get whooped..

lool nice. At the ROH show "Fade to Black" (which was named that because of the Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) vs. Christopher Daniels world title match), my buddy and I were about to leave the bathroom when the door swung open and almost bashed me. It was Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro) and he just looked at me and jokingly said "be careful". That was a fun moment, and I was surprised to learn that I tooowwwer over the dude, I have more then a few inches on him.

I also got a photo with ROH ref Todd Sinclair, known to some folks as "fat pants", after their War of the Worlds show with NJPW in (I think) 2018. I was more drunk than I had ever been in a public setting and the picture 100% illustrates that, I look like I'm about to barf on him and I'm clutching his shoulder with a fudging falcon grip, but he was a friggin pal about it.

At the risk of GTZ using this against me for years to come:

[REDACTED] I actually don't trust yall.

Welp, Kenny Omega vs either Rich Swann or Moose (hoping for Moose) happening in April. A World Title unification match between AEW and Impact. Friggin wild times for us wrasslin fans right now.

the moxplosion was top notch wcw but honestly i expected elements of big shows dads funeral to be somewhere within the match so i ultimately left disappointed. I feel like the only way AEW will ever actually succeed is if they get Jeff Jarrett to team up with them before Cody lets the vibe descend into full early 90s kid vibes

and for the record ECW was just a bunch of guys who couldn't cut it anywhere else emulating shawn michaels and AEW is a bunch of guys who couldn't cut it anywhere else emulating ECW. lolz
