yeah I didnt remember it at all (possibly never fully watched GWH, just parts, ages ago) so after watching the standup i found the scene on youtube to compare it to Louie's description. He didnt exaggerate too much haha it was pretty spot on

I didn't see the full movie until a few years back. I liked it overall, but mostly because of Robin William's character/performance. Matt Damon's character was interesting, and had his moments, but he also annoyed me in a lot of ways. Ben Affleck's character was 100% annoying, I couldn't stand him.

"Who would say this?..."
I grew up with my folks saying that. People in my region of New England say that. Maybe it is a regional colloquialism, but I let out a laugh when that line was delivered because my mom, my aunt, and other people my parents age said that growing up.
So, *shrugs*
And Affleck as Chucky is the greatest role he's ever had. He was 100% Boston.
I love that movie so much.

I watched 4 episodes of The Boys: Diabolical and I totally get why people say it's not like the show, cause it isn't. It surely isn't cannon (at least what I've seen so far isn't) cause Jack from Jupiter appears in it, and he was replaced in the show by Translucent. So far, I'd say the Justin Roiland episode is the best one so far.

i dont think he was questioning that being a phrase people use, more in the context of that particular situation/scene

They're also only 10 minutes long each, so it's only about an hour and a half for the whole 8 episodes.

If you use that phrase in those situations, then that phrase gets used.
I've heard it used from everything to someone losing their job to someone offering more money to a seller while I'm holding the item getting out my cash, and the seller takes it out of my hand, places it in theirs, takes their money and says "how you like them apples?"
So, sure. If you grew up saying it, and you are making a movie about the area you grew up in, I don't see why you *wouldn't* put that in the flick.
Now, if you want to talk about the absolute mess that was Chucky going to Will's job application and how that sequence was turned into a clown-show sitcom situation, we can blast away :)

I haven't heard the phrase "do you like apples" since the mid 90's. When that movie came out it made much more sense. But looking at it from today's point of view, probably not as much. I haven't heard anyone say that in well over 20 years.

Growing up around Boston, I've heard it all my life. In fact my buddy just said it to me last week when showing me something he'd been working on. Still gets love in New England it seems.
Will always love this sequence from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back:

It was said all the time in New York's southern tier when I lived there . Haven't heard it once since I moved to the Midwest. There's a lot of things they don't say out here that they say back home. I haven't heard someone called someone a "smacked-ass" in over 30 years. I rolled when I heard Jean Smart's character use it in Mare of Easttown.
Drizz is right though. It's not the colloquialism that Lewis takes issue with; it's with what precedes the delivery of the phrase.

He didn't say "who would say this" about Matt Damon's line. The only thing he said "who would say..." about was the guy responding yes to "do you like apples?"

The Boys: Diabolical - a good 8/10 Most of these are just off-shoot episodes, non-cannon but the last 3 are cannon, at least that's what I read online. Notable episodes: Justin Roiland, Awkwafina, Andy Samberg. Andy Samberg's is actually one of the cannon ones, and actually a serious episode. There are no actual jokes at all in it. One is just one massive poop joke, and it was hilarious.

They're all different styles, Justin Roland's is episode 2 and it looks exactly like Rick and Morty.

I liked that episode the best but I stopped watching in ep 3. Overall the series just wasn't for me although I liked the idea behind it.

The Dirt - 3/10
I was told it was better then I thought, but it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting.

I'd at least watch the last 3, they're supposedly cannon.

rewatched Evil Dead 2013 for the first time since release. Fell asleep, but not the movie's fault. I had coached a wrestling tournament that day that was almost 12 hours. I'll try again this weekend maybe.
Desperado 8/10
A lot of fun. Banderas was epic.

This may be a movie sin but I believe the only movie from the Desperado trilogy I've ever seen all the way through is Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and for as silly as it gets, I fudging love that movie.
