So I opened this thread without being logging in and what came up was a discussion about Fast and The Furious. I've never seen a single one of them and don't feel like watching 20 hours of content. I feel like I need to start with the first, but after that should I continue with them in order or just jump to one some of the higher rated films. It seems like five and seven are the most popular.

I'd prob start with 5 and keep going up until you get bored. Then start over with 1 if you feel like you want to see more. There are some threads carrying through between films, but it won't hold you back in the least.

Rewatched Guardians of the Galaxy. Good fun.

I'd say it gets around an 8/10. Solid.

Liked that small scene near the end with Yondu where

he opens up the sphere and instead of the gem there's a little troll, yet he smiles and puts it safely away.

Little over a half hour into The Suicide Squad and am absolutely loving it.

It is a hard R rating, holy smokes. When I saw that it was R, I was expecting a few "fudges" or something.... but just a half hour so far and it's already well above what any other mainstream superhero movie has gotten away with - even Deadpool. The rating is earned with the sequence I just watched alone.

Though it obviously does more with its R rating considering the status quo in 2021, it still really reminds me of a legitimate R-rated 80s action movie so far. And I don't mean in atmosphere or setting or anything, but just that it's a "balls to the wall" action extravaganza (to risk sounding like a movie poster).

Lol i had the same thought but assumed he just took a break or had to pause, he doesn't seem like the type to not give movies full attention/respect haha

Lol @Kommie blow it out, I had to pause it because I think the lady wants to watch it together later. Even though if that's the case, she's gonna find out the hard way that this isn't the type of superhero movie she's into haha

I've been so excited about a movie (or even disappointed) that I've posted here before finishing. I take it that he was just giving us a heads up and I appreciate it.

I can absolutely seeing @theJaw talking a bit during a movie though haha, quietly and politely though.

Good news everybody! The lady has no interest so I can keep watching! Glorious day.

@Kommie gruff British accent Idris Elba I believe

@back4more I truly try not to talk during movies and think I usually do pretty good but my buddy Monica would have you believe otherwise haha

That said, talking during a movie in a THEATER setting is a cardinal sin.

Local HBO Max isn't getting Suicide Squad until 30ish days from now. Fine. You want me to pirate it, I'll pirate it. No one is to blame but you schmucks (and the local theater chain monopolies)

The Suicide Squad - 9/10 - Big fan. A bit too long but for as funny and over-the-top as this movie is, it's also got a very satisfying emotional core. I even got a bit teary eyed at one particularly triumphant moment toward the end.

All the characters were fun, most have legit development and those who don't serve their purpose wonderfully. There are several expectation-subverting moments that work to a tee. The effects, soundtrack, story - all great stuff.

Again, a little too long and some jokes that didn't hit perfectly but otherwise a wildly entertaining movie.

Also, when people take out their bright smartphones in the dark theater during a movie. Really? You absolutely have to take out your blazing lantern right now? There are people behind you. wry smile

I'm not talking about cases where there might be an emergency or someone must check their phone at that time. I mean where someone is casually taking out their phone and then using it.

Funny story - I was in a movie and this girl was using her phone. Thankfully she was kind enough to turn off the backlight, but of course, she couldn't see the screen. She proceeded to walk up to the projector booth and use the light from the room to light up her phone. A small black shadow appeared on the bottom corner of the movie screen and enough people harped at her she went back to her seat.

I think it's fun when people scream crap out in a horror film or something.

"AWW HELL NAW!!!

Lol. In Chattanooga it would happen every time.
