definitely looking forward to it. i just love that the approach to all the series' are like the movies. they all have their different spins and genres so nothing gets too stale.

Loki is "gender fluid" apparently.

Good stuff. He's been a woman on various occasions in the books. Sometimes to trick people, sometimes reborn as such after a Ragnarok type event, etc etc.

I haven't seen it yet. I'll be watching this one with the kids again, but we were all too busy today.

Watched it. Really, really good stuff.

Owen Wilson as Mobius was awesome to see, and he has great chemistry with Tom Hiddleston. The direction was also really great, with some great cinematography... a few scenes sort of felt like a high budget indie movie.

This is going to be a FUN show, and I can't wait to see how the little cliffhanger pans out.

I guess my only "complaint", if you can call it that...

...this always seemed like it was going to be the "original, 2012 evil Loki" going on a time-bending adventure, but he learns all the important beats throughout his life that the Endgame Loki would know... so it's sort of like Endgame Loki is just back. I know it's "comics" so I don't care, just thought it was odd to immediately catch the character up. But that SCENE where he learned of his death, and Hiddleston's acting.... really, really awesome.

You watched the entire series? Or are they doing the 1 a week release?

We were too busy to watch yesterday, and won't have a chance today. We'll probably have to watch some time over the weekend while we're at the beach.

I didn't LOVE episode 1, but it was pretty good. Definitely loving Owen Wilson, and agree he has great chemistry with Hiddleston. The best part of the episode was him getting to see everything that took place after he time jumped. I may have even teared up a bit.

Episode 2 was amazing! I felt like I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. I love how we have no idea what to expect from this Loki, he's completely unpredictable. I can't wait to see what comes next!

I do agree that it always seemed like it was going to be the "original, 2012 evil Loki) going on a time-bending adventure. I'm not sure why you already thought he would learn everything that Endgame Loki would know over the course of the show, I can't think of anything that was said or shown that suggested that. THAT SAID...I'm actually really happy about how they did it. While I've always liked Loki, I much prefer the Ragnarok/Endgame version of him. Now, I know him seeing those events doesn't automatically make him that version, but seeing it definitely changed him. I think we ended up with a nice hybrid of 2012 Loki and Endgame Loki, which is pretty cool!

@Scott

I never said I necessarily thought he'd learn everything Endgame-Loki knew over the course of the show. I said I thought it was odd that they caught his character up immediately - as in I found it a little trigger happy that they filled him in on his previous life and did so in such quick fashion.

In a worse show, I'd consider that somewhat of a cop out and tbh it sort of is - while obviously not the EXACT version that we saw die in Endgame, for all intents and purposes, they really have reverted Loki back to Endgame-Loki within the span of the first episode and a half. He knows all the important beats from that version of his life down to the moment he dies, and even learned of Ragnarok in Episode 2. He now knows the trajectory his morality was destined to take, so it'd be pointless for him to keep pretending he's the 2012 conqueror that he wanted to be and it seems by the end of Episode 2 he's not even humoring that idea anymore. It is very much like that version of Loki is just back in the MCU even if he technically isn't.

All that said, and despite me not knowing whether they'd do it, it really was sort of obvious that he'd learn of his post-2012 life given the premise of the show (Loki linking up with a group that keeps records of the entire timeline). I wasn't upset with the way they did it either, like I said it makes sense, I just thought they'd have given Hiddleston a little more time to chew the scenery as the more menacing "evil" Loki before immediately plopping him back into the sympathetic hero role. But following them catching him up so quickly, I doubt that he'll ever truly act like the villain he was back in the day. Looks like that was more just a gimmick to lend to the "fish out of water" aspect of the first episode.

As for "hybrid Loki", I honestly don't feel like it's all that great of a mix between 2012 and Endgame Loki. This version of the character and the acting is still great regardless but to me he just comes off as Endgame Loki with only a slightly more mischievous side comparatively... which is completely fine and so far works for the show.

Also are we sticking to spoiler tags in this new thread or what? Haha

Yeah I only did it because it was in response to something Jaw put in nsfw tags, but I'd rather not.

Episode 3 of Loki had some great visuals but after 3 episodes, the plot is moving just a little too slow for me. I was feeling the first episode, but after re-watching with the lady even that one was slower than I remembered. This episode in particular felt like there were a ton of dialogue-driven scenes that didn't really add a whole lot more to the story that we didn't already know.

I also don't know why they insist on having all these episodes take place in the darkest possible locations. Even the TVA headquarters is lit like a living room from the 1970s. And I don't know if it's just a lack of sleep on my part but I've found myself doing that "eyes closing, head nodding, falling asleep" thing during moments from each episode, which makes them feel a little difficult to get through. Again, I'm a horrible sleeper so this could be on me, but the show isn't doing a ton to wake me up.

For a premise and a main character as fun as they are, I'm kind of surprised that the show has seemed as low-energy as it has to me. The acting is pretty great though, especially Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino (Lady Loki/Sylvie), and I love the music. I have faith that the back half of the series will deliver some strong storytelling but I'm just not overly impressed so far.

That one shot scene at the end of episode 3 was pretty cool.. and the ending was just.. where do they go now?
