I mean... Anyone else getting end of world type vibes? This just feels like the promotional video they show in any post apocalyptic movie.

A couple more ...

These all feel like Umbrella videos. Or perhaps this is the beginning of the Rapture?

No offense but this is in poor taste. I know you're joking but c'mon, not everyone likes to joke about a planned city being a harbinger of doom

I'm not joking ... we've seen this in basically every Sci-Fi movie, video game, comic book, etc. to date. These utopian paradises ... never work and typically are the back story for something post apocalyptic. Reality is, it's probably all for show and will never see the light of the day.

We'll never elevate our way of living to truly revamped modern living without a cataclysmic event.

Who knows, maybe some day, future generations will truly have an amazing new way of futuristic living, but unlikely given our world state and trajectory.

In all fairness those are works of fiction. I hope this goes forward, it's a truly fantastic idea and this take on the line city (not new by the way) is amazing.

I think there's absolutely a place for cities like this, wouldn't ever want it to become the norm/standard though.

I really hope we get to a place where we start to rebuild. There's obviously multiple concepts out there. Hell, isn't Bill Gates looking to build a brand new city in the States?

Revamping old infrastructure is going to be a very difficult (and expensive) initiative. Starting new is obviously a great choice, but how much area actually exists to do so?

An interesting concept nonetheless. At some point we'll need it, but I question if we'll ever see it truly come to life.

I can't see how these could possibly ever get built. The cost and logistics is insane.

It most likely will be another failed project that wastes tons of money. There are so many questions here that are going to be hard to figure out, but 9 million people is just a little shy of Los Angeles County.

1. How are they going to maintain cultural diversity?
2. Do people all work within this city as some type of massive commune?
3. What would this city export that would be worth being part of a trade route?
4. How would you govern such a city? People aren't going to follow their utopian rules all the time.
5. How do you prevent a viral outbreak from turning this place into the perfect breeding ground for a zombie apocalypse?

>>The Mirror Line is expected to take 50 years to build, although Prince wants the project completed by 2030.

What makes you think cultural diversity is desired

Personally I'd wait on the Japanese to do this correctly.

A trillion dollars? Hard to comprehend how much money that is. Sure, literally it's 1000 times one billion dollars. But to actually comprehend that? And a billion dollars is difficult to comprehend too.

Even a million, while more comprehensible, is very large. One day you suddenly have a very large house, or 2,000,000 bags of chips. That's a million. But a billion? A trillion?!

It would be like a drop in a bucket if everyone here at GTZ showed up at the prince's door holding a suitcase which he let us fill with money.

How about we do that first, and then he builds? There will be plenty of funds left over.
