Description

Sacred is a great Diablo style RPG. It is very similar in way but very different.

One of the first things you will notice is the updated graphics. They look much better than Diablo and the terrain is varied in type and composition. While you cannot destroy or interact with most of it, it does look very nice and enhances the feel of the game. I like the fact that you can take screen shots from your game for your viewing pleasure.

The game basically has you following a main quest to kill the evil magician and his cohorts. But there are tons of side quest to be had. It basically involves find a quest giver, do the dirty deed, and report back for rewards. Although this can be tedious at times it help build up your character early in the game.

The control scheme is quite simple but deep. I kept find out new stuff I could do well past the half way point of the game. With spells, combat art, and combos the fine tuning of your character is fantastic ensuring that no two characters will be alike. This also enhances the replay ability. Also the ability to upgrade items with combat arts, rings and necklaces make for some interesting trips to the blacksmith.

The sounds are ok for the game. I also like the numerous types of monsters in the game. From brutes, dragons, spiders, flying monsters and magic users the enemies will keep you on your toes.

Some of the bad points are the bugs in the game. The successive patches helped later in the game. Most of the bugs are small but can be annoying in combat. Most of them do not decide the outcome of any battle but again they are annoying. I did experience some crashes during gameplay so save often.

Overall, I enjoyed the game very much. Some nights I could not put it down and found myself staying up very, very late trying to get to that next level. For RPG fans you should like this game, for the rest give it a try you may be surprised.
