Description

If you've ever played a Treasure shooter, you know to expect something unique and special. Bangai-O certainly delivers. The game itself looks something like a really pretty Thexder clone. However, upon picking up the controls, you'll immediately start thinking Robotron or Smash TV. And THEN the fun starts!

You have two standard attacks: a missile which flies straight in any given direction, or a laser which can bounce off of walls. In addition, you have a super weapon which shoots a number of bullets in all directions simultaneously. The super weapon consumes energy, which recharges whenever you hit something. Now, here's the great part: the more 'things' surrounding you when you launch the super weapon, the more bullets you fire!

To rack up points in this game, you need to cause multiple explosions to occur on-screen at once. To do this, one must fly back and forth to attract enemy fire, and then launch the super weapon, destroying all of the bullets, causing potentially hundreds of explosions! If done well, you'll hit enough items to refill your energy bar and can simply wash, rinse, and repeat.

Of course, if you want more than just a shooter, there is a rather corny plot you can follow. It is pretty standard shooter game fare. But given the fun you'll have playing, pulling crazy stunts and racking up points, it won't matter much. Sufficed to say, if you've got a Dreamcast and like shooters, this game is a good choice to expand your collection with.
