Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

https://youtu.be/30D...

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

Looks like they fixed the duping glitch. So be aware of that before updating. Never used it myself.
I was just about to go to sleep last night when I saw a post on Reddit about the latest update fixing all of the duplication glitches. I thought me and my son both had auto-update turned off, but thankfully I decided to check just in case because it was turned On for both of us. I quickly turned it off. Hopefully I did it before the update was actually downloaded. Otherwise, I guess it's going to update the first time we have to actually turn the game off and then turn it back on. I'm just going to try to dupe everything I want before doing that.

Does anyone know if there's a way to see if the update was downloaded to your Switch but not installed yet?

Edit: Looks like even if your Switch already downloaded the update, if you have auto-update turned off, it will ask you if you want to update when you go to start the game, and you can skip it. That's good news.

@bonham2, sounds like you'll like the Lightning Temple if you liked Fire. Those are the best, and Water Temple barely even feels like a dungeon with how short it is. I did like the boss though.

I think I'm going to do some serious exploring and side quests before I go to the next temple (probably lightning). I am still struggling with combat, so I really need to buff up.

There's a few things that I know I should be doing that I don't do that would make combat better. First is just patience. I tend to rush things. I'll take out a couple of lookouts with my bow, but then rush in and just try to slash my way through. I often don't wait for opportunities to parry or perform flurry rushes. Second is cooking. Resources for buffs are pretty plentiful, but I typically only cook a little bit and use what I do cook sparingly. Finally, fusing. I tend to pick up and store stronger weapons that can't be fused, rather than holding on to more fusible weapons. While these weapons are initially weaker, fusing could make them stronger and more useful in certain combat scenarios.

Finally diving back in, and my god ... I hate the controls. Just feels clunky and off. I don't know how to explain it, maybe I'm a big dumb animal (true), but constantly hitting the wrong damn buttons.

Haven't played since release date. Feel so behind! Anyone have cliff notes on what to focus on early parts of the game? Stuck to main quest line or go explore?
Even Nintendo posted it is okay to have Wanderlust!

I think the controls are good, there's just so many buttons and button combinations to remember. The more you play, the more the muscle memory will build, and you'll be fine.

Got to Gerudo City last night to start up that story arc. It’s the last part of the “regional phenomena” quest that I have left to do.

I wonder what percentage of the story I’ll have completed when I finish it - map complete, 4 temples down, and the “Impa and the Geoglyphs” quest finished. Those seem to be the most story-centric bits of the game I’ve encountered so far, so I wonder if there’s much more or if I’m already close to the end.

Read my post from earlier about mapping the buttons. I think all I did was swap X and Left Click In, and man does it make a massive difference. I find that I don't crouch much, so mapping that to X, and running to the stick just makes sense. Plus it's WAY more comfortable and allows me to move the right stick while running.

Thankfully you can map controls both in-game and through the console itself. Makes it really easy to adjust it to fit your needs. smile

Exploring the depths. It's not as bad as my first few times, but man I hate the darkness. Firing off arrows that may or may not land, or worse yet hit a few feet in front of you as you unknowingly are standing in front of a cliff bottom. Starting to unlock that similar to the sky towers, just MUCH slower going.

I won't spoil what I stumbled upon in the depths the other day, but it did sort of surprise me that the only way to discover this particular discovery was by exploring the underground world.

I'm over 30 hours in, and I am still fighting with the controls. I'm struggling with bringing up items, selecting weapons/bow etc, and selecting the powers wheel. You wan to throw an item? First you have to press the throw button and THEN bring up the item menu to select the item...very counterintuitive. I don't know if or how it could have been done better, but I'm still struggling after a pretty long time.

18 hours, haven't even gotten to Hateno or headed towards any of the four points of interest. Got my first stamina wheel finished, starting on some hearts now. I really like the shrines so far! Haven't run into one where I didn't like it that wasn't the standard tutorial shrines.

Just realized something about lightroots, maybe I missed the dialogue...

they are at the exact same location as the shrines on the mainland. That explains the odd spacing. Find a shrine on the mainland, mark it in the depths.

Went ahead and ordered the Piggyback Hardcover Guide for TOTK and Extended Edition for BOTW while they are discounted. Have not wanted a guide in a long while but for some reason am drawn to the TOTK one and got the BOTW one for good measure. I know you can find it all on the internet but have loved these two games so much, I look forward the flipping through these books.
