Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

https://youtu.be/30D...

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

I made a similar contraption. My bottom rails were wide enough to connect to the outside of each of the beginning rails and then were still close enough so that I wouldn't fall off the 3rd rail once I landed on it. It took a lot of time to get the contraption perfect.

Idk what it is but I just can’t get into TotK and I absolutely loved BotW. Exploring isn’t as exciting now after elden ring and I’m just not that into it. It’s a great game but just can’t get into it. I’m happy playing Diablo and then ff16 is around the corner. I’ve been anticipating this game for years and sort of bummed that I’m not enjoying it. Everything just feels like a chore
Legit my thoughts exactly. It's super fun, I'm < 10 hours in so really can't comment overall ... but eh, I dunno, it's not grabbing me. I think more focused/dedicated time is needed, but D4 + FFXVI are calling me more at this time.

You didn't have to rebuild mid ride? It just slid onto the next rail and kept going?

Same. This one is tedious. I’m only about 10-12 hrs in too. I’ll definitely finish the story at some point.

BotW is a top 3 game for me. Still on the fence on whether TotK will top it. Slightly swung towards no at this point.

Just spent around 30 minutes failing to figure out what to do at the Makasura Shrine. Some of these puzzles, I just can't figure them out. I can get creative in order to make progress and figure out a workaround, but that only gets me so far. I left the shrine. No idea what to do.

I prefer TOTK over BOTW in just about every way, to the point that I really can’t see myself being tempted to revisit BOTW with TOTK on my shelf.

Yeah, but it took a long time to get it perfect. I spent more time on this shrine than any other by a long shot.

I try not to "cheat" on the shrines, although I know it's not cheating if you use what the developers put into the game. I just can't help but feel cheap building a super long bridge or using recall to float over a gap or using a rocket shield to fly over an entire shrine. I still do it every once in a while when it seems like an obvious solution, but I always try to do things the way I feel they "should" be done or use a creative way.

There's a shrine called Jiukoum Shrine - Built for Rails. I was stuck at it for awhile. Finally beat it, but the way I went about it didn't seem to me like it was intuitive. I'm curious how others went about it. Here's some pictures and an explanation: ...
I just did this shrine recently. I had a platform that was exactly the length of the two starting rails, so I just connected pieces at the very edge, going down, which fit in the outer rails perfectly. Then I had another piece in the middle, going down, to fit into the middle rail at the transition. I was worried it would tip over when it got to just the single rail in the middle, but it didn't. I made it perfectly on the first try.

I've got about 70 hours on TOTK and love it. The world has more going on, the building is amazing, and the numerous QOL improvements have removed a lot of the tedium I found in BOTW.

I've beaten the four temples and am now just faffing about, once I start getting tired of the game I'll run to the castle and keep moving with the story. I'm really enjoying the building and am working on maxing out my batteries.

My biggest complaint is the fact that the wings expire after gliding for a certain amount of time. I understand why they expire from a gameplay perspective but would be much happier if they could be infinite or have a longer functional time before they expire.

Yeah, I completed the 4 temples, I got the memories from the Tears of the Dragon quest, and I just completed the quest to retrieve the Master Sword. Now I'm just exploring a bunch before continuing the story, currently working on tracking down shrines so I can vastly up my heart count. Already have 2 full stamina wheels, but may add more (if you can?) once I'm content with my health bar.

I completed the maze labyrinth up in the very North East corner of the map last night - did that shrine and a nearby shrine. I stopped right as I spotted some ships in the ocean, so I'll probably explore whatever's going on there before heading up into the sky to continue the labyrinth up there (found the one in the sky before doing the one on the ground, so I can just teleport to the Shrine that's up there whenever I'm ready).

This is the biggest thing for me. My favorite thing about BotW was exploring, and the exploration in TotK is just so much better. You're not just running around on grass and mountains, there's also caves (some of which are quite large and interesting), wells, sky islands, AND the depths. I'm constantly switching back and forth between all of these environments, and it's just so fun. There's only one thing missing that I was really hoping they would add: water exploration. In a lot of Zelda games, Link can swim around underwater, but sadly this is not available in BotW/TotK. This could open up a ton of possibilities. Nintendo has already confirmed that they're sticking with the BotW/TotK style moving forward, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get underwater exploration in the next game.

Another thing I'm loving is having access to the Hero's Path so early. I got it recently and it's making it so much easier for me to thoroughly explore without being over-the-top tedious with it like I was in BotW. In BotW, I did 1 region at a time, and wouldn't move on to the next until I had thoroughly explored every inch of it. I did that because I was worried it would be difficult to remember where exactly I had explored, and where I hadn't. But I don't have to worry about that anymore!

@Scott Maybe that is their plan for the third game. We've already got building, so in the next game maybe we can create submarines.

And not only are there more biomes to explore, but there seems to be more life in those biomes. More NPCs with quests, more repeatable quests, more varied encounters.

Submarines laughing out loud

The building is already pretty solid, but I can't wait to see where they take it in the next game!

Very true! Also, while TotK has much better enemy variety than BotW (one of my main complaints about BotW), there are still SO many enemies from past Zelda games that they could bring back! It's so fun seeing an old enemy in these games for the first time. Remember seeing your first Lynel? Your first Like-Like? I do "like" what they did with Like-Likes in this game, but I kind of wish they moved around, and would capture you if they touched you, like in the original.

The Like-Likes can still swallow Link if you get too close to them. It's happened to me a few times and the Guardian companions as well. It stole my weapon once, but otherwise hasn't really done any harm. The compendium entry says they can eat either your equipped shield or weapon, but they haven't taken a shield from me yet.

I finally grabbed the Master Sword yesterday and decided to progress the story a bit by getting to the Lightning Temple. I didn't complete it yet, but I will tonight. I can already see the lightning power as being way OP. I might decide to dismiss that one too once I beat the temple. I keep Tulin activated for his gust power, but I really hate how he helps me fight. I'll be in the middle of a tough battle, and then he'll headshot the enemy and knock him down making the fight way easier. I don't like that.

Has anybody done any of the big battles where the villagers fight alongside you? I saw that in a video a while ago, but I haven't come across anything like that in the game yet. I'm wondering if it's a story related quest, although I was under the impression there were multiple side missions with that.

I haven't come across that either, I don't know where it happens or anything like that. I'm pretty sure I did the quest that the video shows the villagers helping, but I did it alone with no villagers. I watched a YouTube reviewer talk about how one of the things he just had to get used to as far as new Zelda goes was "the missions where you can go out and fight alongside villagers" so apparently it is in the game somewhere, I just haven't seen any evidence of it.

I know. I dismissed the Goron dude. He's annoying and kept getting in my way. I'll enable him when I'm exploring areas with a lot of rocks to break, but other than that, I don't want him around. I keep Tulin enabled because I use his gust power all the time.

I started it with helping the General at Hyrule Caste
Gate. He stops looking there for Zelda and starts helping the people fight Monsters. Tells you where he is going and you can help. After each fight tells the next mission. I also have come across tents with a fella cleaning weapons and a women near the cooking pot worried about the groups going to fight, you can grab the weapons and she usually gives you a food item.
Also found a group lead by a Lieutenant or horseback near a ship and joined them, they didn't fight as well so lucky they had me raspberry

Also they mention after the blood moon respawn but they want to fight anyway.
