Absolutely! I have the original steelbook of the Metroid Prime Wii trilogy and I’m glad I didn’t sell it. I see it selling for upwards of close to $200 now.

I have my original three, didn't even know about the Trilogy until I dunno, 8-10 years ago? I picked it up, near new condition, for like $80? Was quite happy about it. Had no clue that was a thing ....
Safe to assume, that MP will just get a basic facelift. It's Nintendo, can't get our hopes up.
I'm so tempted to go grab it now!

Best thing that has happened on Switch over the past month is still Goldeneye releasing on N64 online. With the modified controls and bumped up graphics, it's a pleasure to replay.

Someone asked if that Konami baseball game was a mobile title. It just launched today for Switch and PS4. I got it with gold coins and just did the tutorials so far. Want to try out the online later...if anyone is even playing it lol. (It was doing maintenance and that mode is unavailable right now.)

Do y’all think Metroid prime remastered will be a rare game down the line?
And do you think it’s fair sony Activision asked the same price and we got the first 3 crash games or the first 3 Spyro games for the same price, but Nintendo only gives us the first prime

1 - no idea. If you are talking a couple years or so down the line, probably not - just look at Mario 3D All Stars. If you are talking 20-30 years down the line, sure it will probably be expensive, it's a Nintendo game.
2 - it was Activision, not Sony, but nevertheless I'm not a fan of the $40 price on Metroid. That being said, I'd imagine the Metroid Prime games are a fair bit bigger than the crash games. If you don't think it's fair, let Nintendo know by not buying it at that price.

Pikmin 4, Kirby, Zelda, Advance Wars for sure, the Disney Game surprised me and looks to hit the spot.
Not a Metroid Prime Fan BUT that game looked like WAY more effort was put into it. It’s worth $40. Anyone who doesn’t agree can just bust out their Wii or GC very simple.

I'm just waiting for Metroid to drop at GameStop so I can utilize a gift card. I've been teetering playing my GC copy for a while, but kept being put off by the antiquated control scheme. Switch port for $40 is a no brainer for me.

Didn't have time to type up my thoughts yesterday, but the Direct was great! Easily my favorite one in a while. These were the highlights, IMO:
Pikmin 4
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC
Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania
Bayonetta Origin
Splatoon 3 expansion
Octopath Traveler II
Sea of Stars
Advance Wars 1 + 2
Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe
Game Boy / Game Boy Color games
Game Boy Advance games
Metroid Prime remaster
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wave 4
Tears of the Kingdom
Dead Cells has been on my to play list for a while. I'm definitely going to have to get around to that now, because that Castlevania DLC looks awesome!
I'm glad the Splatoon 3 expansion was confirmed, but I wish they had given us more info. Wave 1 is basically nothing as far as I'm concerned, it just changes the hub back to the city from the first game. I want to know what actual content is being added in Wave 2, and when it's coming.
I'm so excited for Sea of Stars! Glad we finally have a release date for that.
I've been looking forward to Advance Wars ever since I played SteamWorld Heist, so I'm glad that one is finally coming out.
Game Boy games! They're getting closer and closer to just having their entire catalog available on the Switch!
It's about time they finally confirmed the Metroid Prime remaster. It's disappointing that we're not getting the whole trilogy all at once like on the Wii. But, at least they're only charging $40 and not $60 for it. I'll wait until I can get it for $25-30. I don't have much experience with the game, only tried it once. Does this remaster look like much of an improvement? Some of the shots looked really good, others looked like a GC game lol.
We knew Wave 4 was coming, so no big surprise there. I'm glad we're getting another brand new track, but more importantly, a new character! I didn't expect new characters in any of these waves. Birdo has been requested for a long time, that was a good one to add.
While I enjoyed the Tears of the Kingdom trailer, they still didn't show that much! I want to see some actual gameplay and get some concrete info about what's new in this game. I'll admit, when it first ended, I was very disappointed, and felt more than ever that it was going to just be BotW 2.0 (or 1.5). But after re-watching it a couple times and reading Reddit comments pointing out things they spotted, I'm actually pretty excited. I'm starting to have more hope that this game is going to be a huge improvement over BotW!

I know! I'd be excited for this game just because it's an RPG made in the style of classic 16-bit RPGs. But, the fact that it's made by the same developers who made The Messenger takes it to a whole other level!

Your excitement is my fear. I want BotW 2.0 just like I wanted Zelda 2.0 and OoT 2.0. Instead I got two of my least favorite Zelda games in AoL and MM.

Okamiden is another game I played that reused the same world but still felt like a fresh experience. So I'm still looking forward to this! It's not like I've ever truly been disappointed by a Zelda game. But still, I want to know about the dungeons.
Also, the trailer appeared to show redeads and a Gleeok on a bridge. Not sure what those flying creatures are.

On TOTK vs BOTW, I would be very happy if its like the improvements to Horizon Zero Dawn to Forbidden West. BOTW had to be pushing the Switch Hardware too, TOTK if improves as much as HFW did on the 1st one that should hit the right middle spot of BOTW 2.0 Fans and Others that want More.
Dead Cells Castlevania was a Must play Beauty!
I DL The GB and GBA Apps last night. Look forward to playing Wario Land 3 again.

Just played for another hour. The biggest differences from the first game are the day/night cycle and the water travel. You can switch between day and night by just pressing the ZR button. I used this to finish the first side quest as Throne, to make a thief appear. While on the canoe, I came to a grotto or something with a danger level 34. Quickly turned back around lol.

Playing Minish Cap again. It's been a long time, but I hope the hat shuts the fudge up. Not quite as bad as Navi, but I don't need interrupted with dialog explaining what I was trying to go do before the damn hat stopped me in my tracks. Brings back flashbacks of LISTEN!!1!1!!
Aside from that this is probably the most charming Zelda game.

I was just browsing the rewards, and one of them was particularly interesting to me. They included a copy of The Messenger (same developers I think)

I'm playing through Super Mario Land 2 right now. Never played it before for some reason. Thought I'd just play for a little bit but have already collected 4 of the 6 coins. I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

6 Golden Coins is great. Wario Land (Super Mario Land 3) is my favorite though growing up.

I fully expected Advance Wars to be full price, but I really don't like it. I know it's two games. I know they are rebuilt from the ground up. And I know they are awesome games. But it feels like it should be a $30-$40 eShop game, not a full priced $60 game.

It's been $60 since before it got delayed. Wait 7 months and you can buy it for $40.

Retail $60, then eShop should be $50 or a digital Deluxe Version if still charging $60. I would prefer this. At least on 1st party games across the board. What ya think?

So we are getting Metroid Prime, that is cool. I was considering getting prime trilogy but if they release them all for $40 each it's still cheaper than a mint/new collector's edition on . So can you play Prime with the joycons like they did in the trilogy remaster?
Also, FIRST Power Pro baseball in the USA in 10 years! Plus Baten Kaitos I&II, as well as finally a release date for AW Remaster!

Yeah, but the joycon control us never as good as Wii Remote controls. I haven't played yet (waiting to get physical), but all reports say joycon controls constantly need to be reset. It sounds like dual analog with gyro controls turned on is the best option.

I played Super Mario Galaxy on the switch with joycons it was pretty nice. But yeah I can see that being annoying. I guess I'll wait on this one and keep MPTrilogy as a possible option if it has superior waggle controls.

My concern is they're only going to release Prime and not 2&3. Sort of like Gears of War.
For me it's a Patrick Henry situation, fuk this Prime shiz give me trilogy or give me death.

Yeah the rumor for the longest time was that the whole trilogy was getting remastered together, then about a year ago it changed to just the first game. I wouldn't be surprised if they do end up remastering the other two games but releasing them all separately so they could get more than they would have if they had just bundled them into one $60 release.
If that is what they do, I wonder if they will add online play to Metroid Prime 2's multiplayer mode, or if they will leave that mode out completely? For example in the BioShock trilogy remaster, BioShock 2 has no multiplayer mode even though the original release had one, and I know there are other examples I'm forgetting at the moment where the remasters omitted multiplayer modes.

I thought I read something around the time that the focus turned to just the MP1 remaster that MP1 was a landmark title they wanted to do right, but 2 & 3 might just get ported and bundled together mostly as-is. Remastering all 3 games either separate or bundled wasn't something they felt strongly about doing. But given the interest in MP maybe they'll change their minds.

A developer on the original Metroid Prime is disappointed Nintendo didn't include the original dev team in the credits of the Remaster. I think it is a dick move, though I wouldn't have known this if he didn't Tweet it because unless a game is playing a licensed song that I like during the end credits, I will never not skip them.
But still, I see where he's coming from. The Remaster team is like a cover band doing someone else's work, it's only fair Nintendo should have credited them too (they did it for Skyward Sword HD).

I think it’s more akin to an artist doing a remix or their own version years later rather than your cover band analogy, but regardless It’s definitely strange to not credit the original team in the credits though.

Kinda bummed about this. Doubt there’s many players here but I started playing this on the switch during its beta and then on PS5 when it was one of the monthly free ps plus games. Redownloaded it for my sons Switch when it went FTP and it was the first multiplayer game my son and I played together (he got surprisingly good at it). Next season will be the last and servers are shutting down other than for PC players.
I’m a little shocked because they had paid TMNT content starting in season 7 and added more character's as recently as last season. I figured it was doing ok. It was a very fun game and I’ve put over 400 hours into it with my son. We’ll miss it.

A lot of live service games are getting the plug pulled.
For publishers, apparently everyone wants to be Fortnite or Rocket League. A decently successful/profitable game is now a complete failure to them.

I'm kind of psyched for Metroid Prime Remastered. I really enjoyed it for the Wii, years ago. The lower $40 price is appreciated too.
I guess even the Wii game is a GameCube port... and there are more Prime games for GC... If I could play those on Switch, it would be cool too.
I was disappointed that Metroid Dread went back to 2D. I hear it's a good game, but side-scrollers just seem old to me.
It seems like they could make an original 3D Metroid Prime game for Switch and it would do well.

It seems like they could make an original 3D Metroid Prime game for Switch and it would do well.

Is the physical copy of Metroid Prime going to be a limited run? Apparently pre-orders are sold out everywhere. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about my decision to wait for a price drop.

I also heard that there are still plans to remaster Metroid Prime 2 and 3 for the Switch as well. I'm predicting they'll be piece mealed to us over the next year or two to hold us over until they figure out what the deal is with MP4.

Nintendo Switch, like multiple Nintendo systems leading up to the Switch, are leaning way too heavily on remakes compared to brand new content. I don't mind because I still enjoy the old stuff, especially with new looks, but damn get to work on loads of new content.

Which companies are doing it better? There are a ton of remasters that have come out from all kinds of companies.
Sony has the Sly Collection, Jak and Daxter Collection, The Last of US, etc.
Capcom keeps remaking/remastering Resident Evil games and releasing 90 versions Street Fighter 2.
EA just gave us Dead Space, but we've so had some Need for Speed remasters lately and Burnout Paradise.
Nintendo with the Switch was maybe worse because so many early titles were Wii U ports.
Some games are so good people want to keep buying them, so publishers would be dumb to leave the easy money on the table.

To the point that Nintendo ported over all the good Wii U titles to the Switch. I no longer have a Wii U for this exact reason. The only game I had, that isn't on the Switch, is Xenoblade Chronicles X. I predict the Wii U will be an expensive novelty to own at some point...soon. The systems have held their value well. The actual 'exclusive to the console' games have as well. Hold on to your Wii U's!

Dread was actually pretty awesome gameplay wise, my issue is you have to spend an hour going back thru the map and it turns out you have one pixel on a random wall to blast to progress thru the game. Makes it feel like a slog.
I think Ori is Metroidvania done perfectly. No parts that are so hidden as to actual game progress, etc.
Anyways i really hope we get the trilogy on switch, but it feels like we'll just get Prime and Prime 4..

I don't know, I remember a lot of times when I did not know where to go and had to just wander around looking for new paths. Or, I knew the location on the map I needed to get to, but I didn't know where the path to it was actually located.

I loved MP1. It was just so well crafted from the level design to sense of exploration and didn’t overstay its welcome too much. I think it was one of those rare nowadays 15-20 hour middle of the road length games. I did not finish MP2. I wasn’t feeling the dark/light world at the time. But the last time I played it was when I was like 17 so maybe I’ll enjoy it more if remastered now. MP3 I watched a friend play and it looked really cool. The new smoother traversal via grappling hook was neat. I’d love to play that one as well now if ported to Switch.

Honestly I'd skip it if I were you. They did a great job of making a first person metroid(vania), but it's more classic metroid focused on exploration in a 3d environment. Plus scanning everything is rewarding for lore, but tedious. Lastly I always thought the ending sequence was a letdown. All that said, I'm excited to revisit it, but I'll wait for physical.

I saw that, but honestly I'd rather not win the acrylic "figures". Look like shrinky dinks. I'd enter for the pin set, and if there was anything else worth getting I'd have gotten them with Plat coins. Shipping kills it for me.

I have to say I like all the different shapes of various consoles. If they all were just carbon copies it would be boring. The saturn controller, Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, all cool controllers. Heck I think the PSVR Sense controllers look really sleek and can't wait to have those crazy circles around my hands!

Started up Bayonetta 2 on Switch last night. The game seems to be more of the same as the first one, which I found a bit dull from a gameplay perspective. I feel like I've outgrown button mashers. I still have DmC and DMC5 on the backlog. Dropping the difficulty to easy just so I can play through for the story so I can play 3 eventually.

That reminds me of a quote by Miyamoto all the way back in 2002.
"Get accustomed to the GCN Controller because, 10 years from now, this controller will be the standard."
Then they pretty much went in a very different direction for each console that followed it (yes I know there's a few exceptions where you can use a GameCube controller on select Wii/WiiU/Switch titles but you have to go out of your way and buy some adapter or something). They're the only ones that don't just stick to one basic design and and improve it with each new console, they need to reinvent the wheel every time.
Back in the day I really liked the GameCube controller, but I don't know how I'd feel about it these days, I haven't held one in a long time. I do remember liking the analog L&R buttons, especially in racing games that used them for gas/brake and still feel it's a major step backwards on each of their controllers post-GameCube to not have analog triggers. I wish the Z button was bigger and that there were two of them. I remember not having an issue with the C-Stick/nub early on, but several years later I grew to dislike it after I had started playing more and more games on PS2 and Xbox. Props to WaveBird for being the first wireless controller that didn't feel like a cheap piece of crap, even if it did have a silly name.

Heh - I never heard that one before. Kinda funny since the only thing it had going for it (analog triggers) was abandoned on all their future systems, while their competitors more fully embraced them (to the point where the analog triggers are the ps5 controllers biggest selling point)
As a big fan of racing games, that has always and still does strike me as a bonehead decision.

Excellent summary of my opinions.
I remember playing GC for the first time at a pre-launch event. It was an amazing controller for a first impression. The goofy button design was actually a clever way to lower the learning curve. You instantly knew what button to hit to perform the main and secondary actions on most games.

So far I like the controller. It’s not as nice as the official Pro controller but it’s definitely nice. Solid feeling and good button response. I doubt I’ll mess with the button mapping, macros, or any other customization, but it’s cool to know I can of I want to. To me a big plus is that the D pad is high and on the left, makes it better for old school 2D scrollers IMO. I’d say $50 well spent.

Interesting to know about the D pad, because even in games that use the Switch's left stick for movement, I've found that I often use the D pad instead. So an improvement to that area is a plus.

Can't remember if I mentioned this before, but the Switch has slots to save custom button mapping. I created one for Goldeneye that makes the controls modern, and it's nice to be able to save them so I don't have to remember what I swapped.
This is a great feature I had no idea was added. I think one of the collections of an NES series had the buttons backwards.

I knew the remap feature was added but didn't know it had multiple save slots for it, I thought whatever buttons you remapped would stay like that across all games until you changed them back. This is good to know.

Been playing a bunch of the old 2D Mario games simultaneously for some reason, and I was wondering:
Does anyone here hold Super Mario Bros 2 above the more traditional Mario games?
I by no means dislike SMB2, but I'm realizing with these play throughs that I've never ever gotten too far into it. I always find myself just wanting to whip on SMB3 or SMW, or even SMB1. It being a reskin of Doki Doki Panic is just so jarring compared to the rest of the series (even if I obviously didn't know that it was as a kid, first playing it). So yah, I was just wondering if any folks actually hold it in higher regards than the rest of the series or if others feel similar to me. I reiterate: what small amount of the game I've played is real good, but when I want to play classic Mario, it's always the last on my list (will take it over "New" Super Mario Bros any day of the week though).

I wouldn't say it's the best NES Mario, but it's my personal favorite. I love being able to select 4 different characters each with a unique skill set. The areas are so unique thanks to it not being a Mario game originally, and the boss/sub boss fights are better than any of the other early Mario's imo. I also like being able to ride and pick up enemies, leading to some great secret areas and not so secret areas. The warps are there, as are optional sub areas leading to a bit of exploration. Love being able to back track and explore. Sinking sand leading to short cuts. Verticle scrolling stages.
Being one of the few Mario's that buck the trend of save the helpless princess. Lastly it is one of my favorite endings of all video games. From tracking the character use count, to the enemy scroll (and errors), to the final screen with that music. Love the game's music. Love everything about the game. I've beaten it in so many different ways.
I'm so glad we got Doki Doki Panic as Mario 2 instead of "Lost Levels". As a young child, Japan Mario 2 wouldn't have been as exciting. It was a clone of Mario 1 made for people looking for a greater challenge. Mario 2 (USA) was new and refreshing. And when Mario 3 hit, it made the "traditional" formula new and exciting again.

It does to a degree. Everytime you boot up they ask you to revert to defaults, but having (6 save slots I think, maybe 4? Each controller takes a slot so more like 3 or 2.) You have to go default to play normal then select the remap slot to go back.

Hmm maybe I’ll have to prioritize a true play through for SMB2 now. I do want to finally beat it after only playing a few levels since I was a kid.
I’m so thankful I can play these games on Switch. On that note, GB/C/A on the Switch is a game changer too. I’ve been playing the hell out of them since they dropped. That’s where I’m playing SMB3 and I’m happy to find out that they included e-reader levels that I never even knew about in the game.

I'm really loving how much of Nintendo's overall catalog is available on the Switch, playable both in handheld mode and on the tv. Hopefully all of these old games will be available on the Switch's successor as well.

If they release Super Mario Advanced (SMB2 on GBA) before you give SMB2 another go, I'd recommend playing the NES one first, or the All Stars version second.

No crazy lines of resellers, or massive amounts of stock gone because someone ordered 27 copies of your game. It's kind of exhausting honestly. Takes some of the fun out of gaming, having to keep in mind that it might not be simple to get the product you're interested in. It's one thing if everyone going for these things were buyers who are actually interested in playing video games. But sadly that's not the case.

MP is being scalped... lol
Sad times when standard edition games that aren't announced as limited release are being scalped. Wtf is wrong with the people paying more than MSRP? One account had 30+ copies available at nearly $80, and the sad thing is he likely sold some as it was an odd number.
Do these people just visit every local store and buy all the inventory? Seems like a lot of work and risk for what little they make after all the fees and expenses.
I'll just wait patiently for the restock. Also has me a bit worried for Zelda, but N should ship an asks of that.
Edit: Play Asia still has the American version for $45+shipping. I will still wait.

Probably bots mostly. And there's not really much risk if you can return them free of charge.
Other than reputational risk of everyone knowing what a jerk you are when you have 30 copies

I'm playing YS VIII even though I beat it once on . It's such a great game though, but I know the PSV version was downgraded compared to consoles at the time. It does look much sharper. I love looking at the sand water and grass in this game.
If you haven't played YS8 it's probably my favorite. It's about crash landing on a tropical island and setting up camp. Lots of exploring, collection materials, upgrading weapons, etc. . The locations are beautiful and the music is great.

The guy behind the counter said he couldn't give me a copy because although they had them in the store, someone had ordered around 20 copies. I think it was 17 or 27. The worker felt bad, but he said they had to fill the online orders.
That many copies of a game? Really? Several copies, okay, I hear. Collection, etc. But sometimes there is a thing as too much.

Check Walmart in store. They just put them out today at my store, and the lady said they weren't allowed to sell them until today. This is the same store that canceled my in store order yesterday. So two days ago showed 4 in store. Yesterday 0. Today they were there. Still available via Walmart in store pick-up as of now. Obviously ymmv.

Enjoying MPR so far. The control options make it infinitely better. I tried the traditional controls and woof. Playing handheld I like gyro assist. Playing docked I have to turn gyro off. I find the 3 shot burst before charging a bit odd. Nintendo taking a lesson fron the M16A2?

I'd like to see the Minish in a 3D Zelda. I actually saw a couple of characters in the leaked art book that looked like possible Minish, and Link appeared to be small in a couple of pics. But maybe it was just the other stuff that was enlarged.

Me too! That and season-changing in a 3D Zelda are my top mechanic wants. I'd also like to see time travel again, but much more complex. I'm thinking something like Chrono Trigger where you can travel to multiple time periods, some very far in the past/future, and actions in the past can have huge effects on the future.

After 30+ hours, finally finished Cathedral on . Hard game. Died 217 times. Finished with 96% item completion. I missed 13 out of 100 books which unlocks the last bottle.
Game scales terribly in terms of enemy damage you take. Bosses are also sponges.

Yep, that's my #1, and then the original (Metroid II: Return of Samus) is last. Samus Returns and Dread are VERY close for me. Both had their pros and cons over the other. Samus Returns' amazing soundtrack is what ultimately pulled it to the top.

I still wish we could get a brand new Mario Kart, but this is better than nothing. What could be really cool is if future Mario Karts had all of these tracks available from the start. Or, start with new tracks in the base game, but add the rest of the existing tracks over time.

I'm the same way. I bought the Booster Course pass thingy on day one, thinking "alright we're not getting Mario Kart 9 but this will be just as good" and I was pretty hyped for it but I haven't played since the first wave released. It's cool that they're doing this at all, but in the end this is still Mario Kart 8, the same game we've been playing for almost a decade now.
Contrary to what non-fans might think, there is more to each new iteration of Mario Kart than just new tracks.

I know your reasoning was about the extra item making things more chaotic, but in my opinion that's what makes Mario Kart games fun is the chaos. I don't even like returning to pre-MK Wii entries because they're not chaotic enough.
I read today that the online servers for MK8 on Wii U were shut down (also Splatoon), so just for that reason alone I wouldn't consider it the superior game anymore.

You monster
Honestly I wouldn't mind the two items if they went back to 8 karts. But 2 items with 12 karts and it's less of a test of skill and more of whether you happen to get lucky at the end of lap 3.
I'm on board with some randomness but too much chaos and you may as well just do a coin flip to decide the winner.

I own the first and enjoyed what I played of it, but for whatever reason I never continued. I will one day, but it was the vastly improved location visuals of the second that reeled me in this time. The first is gorgeous but the locations I’ve seen from the second look wild, and I love the art style.
@loztdogs There for sure is dialogue in there, but this one is fully voice acted, if that changes anything. I forget if the first was, I tend to remember just a line or so of voice acting then a bunch of text.

That is a neat metal box… but do steel books come with anything particularly special? In-game or a book or anything? I’ve never really seen the allure of just the same game case in a metal box, even if the art on the box does admittedly look wonderful. I’m probably missing something.

I still have my persona strikers steelbook that I need to sell. I DO have some blu ray steelbooks but I never really care for video game steelbooks, always get rid of them.

Nintendo Life did a '50 years of gaming on Switch' list which really got me thinking how much the system has available on it (especially with all the retro compilations)

I don't agree with all of their choices, but a cool idea nonetheless

I started with Throne, but Hikari is probably my favorite character to use. Not surprising since I usually pick the warrior class in games with job options. Regardless, I haven't removed Throne from my party even though I've finished her last chapter and can swap her out now.

I haven't played Metroid Prime since I beat it after launch on GC. At the time it was one of my favorite games. Never replayed it due to so many other great games, then Echoes came out and I absolutely hated it... so much so I picked up Prime 3 way after launch and put almost no time into it.
Playing MPRemastered, I'm reliving that first play through all over again. They did such a great job of turning a 2-d franchise who's main focus was exploration into of all things a "first person shooter". This is where I felt Dread fell flat, they took out the exploration that all good Metroidvanias have. With MPR there is a solid foundation for MP4, and the quality of life improvements help remove some previous concerns. I hope Retro has been stewing on great ideas since 3, and 4 is the new Metroid I've been looking for since Prime.

I’ll too I only played Prime 1 at launch on GC and adored it. Glad to see the remaster holds up well. And I only played a little of Echoes also and remember really not digging it as well with the whole dark and light bubble concept and never played Prime 3 but always wanted to. I hope they remaster 2-3 together in a collection before MP4 comes out. That would be pretty cool.

I'd really like to see 3 with modern controls, I don't think anything could get me to finish 2. They can prove me wrong I guess.
Excited to see Fusion getting released. I remember being kind of let down by it largely from the zero suit stuff. Will be interesting to play it again after all these years. Can't wait for zero mission. I remember thinking that was my 3rd favorite Metroid at the time, and going off (faint) memory still is. Will be fun to see how it all shakes out.

Then played Super Metroid a few months ago. I'd say Zero Mission got me into the games.

I'm loving Metroid Prime Remastered. I'm about 80-90% done. I.used to play out once a year, but I've been putting it off for a few years due to the HD release rumors. It feels so fresh because I forgot a lot...I've found myself doing a lot of exploration trying to get 100% of the items.
It's amazing to me how well the graphics hold up after all these years. It really is/was a special game. This has only reinforced it as one of my top 2-3 games of all-time.

Well it is remastered, but honestly I think the ground layer was well established. Going to 16:9 (with whatever res/fps it's running) and improving the controls was all it needed. Interested to see if the couple of complaints it gets get patched. I'd guess no. Great game, great remaster!

But 2 items with 12 karts and it's less of a test of skill and more of whether you happen to get lucky at the end of lap 3. I'm on board with some randomness but too much chaos and you may as well just do a coin flip to decide the winner.
I don't even think of it as a chaos, I just think newer MK games are more action-packed and fun. I've gone back and played some of the older MK games (MK64 in particular) and they're SO boring. Just long stretches of driving with nothing happening. No thanks. Even with so much more going on in the newer games, the better players are still going to win the majority of the time (but not every single time) and I think that makes it more exciting. One of the best feelings is when you have some bad luck, get knocked around a few times, and still manage to comeback and squeeze out the win. It's nowhere close to a coin flip. Go find some of the top players to play with and let me know how many times you win due to the randomness and chaos.

Until the CPU realizes you're casually cruising along in first then boosts the AI's speed 10-fold until they pass you. (MK64) I always hated racing in that game, but I loved the battle. Still my favorite battle mode.
On that last sentence, one of the best times I had was 100%ing MKWii. Really felt like I accomplished something there, being able to get the beat all cups at all levels without losing. Took so many tries, but I got there. The blue shells...

My daughter and I use it for Wii U fit and my family and I have been using it for Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival. We play that once a month to see what's different and to play with all of our AC amiibo. It also stores data on your amiibo, so I've been using Kicks.
What sucks is the gamepad battery doesn't hold as much power as it used to, but it lasts just long enough to get in a session of the Animal Crossing game.

I really loved that marble game where you had to move it with your feet. That one was really cool.
Speaking of "fit" games. I bought Ring Fit Adventure on sale a few months back. Have yet to use it. But that's bc I misplaced the leg strap and didn't want to spend $10 to replace it. Well I found it so I can try it soon! I hear it's good!

I think I'm on my 4th pedometer. Bought some when they were on clearance, only have 2 remaining I think, and the other has been through the washing machine.
I think I only have half of Japan and the orient express left if memory serves me. I know I have the first map and US complete. The mountains on the other hand are a pain. Living in glacial plains Iowa I don't get elevation often, and the thing underreports it to boot. I have to drive 20 minutes to hike anywhere remotely hilly, closer to an hour for anything that requires even a little effort.

I wonder how long until the value of this game plummets. With Nintendo announcing their going to make more, I have to assume those aren't tge copies arriving at stores this week, since they must take more than a week to produce, ship, and arrive in store. Wonder if you'll see numerous copies on the shelf soon.

Oh it will plummet, and thank Eywa Nintendo didn't take too long restocking. I'll be getting my copy in next week. Not that I NEED it with my backlog. But $40 for a beautifully remastered MP, sure I'll bite. It was either gonna be wait for this, or get MPT on Wii. And this makes me pretty hopeful for a part 2 and 3 eventually.

Oh it will plummet, and thank Eywa Nintendo didn't take too long restocking. I'll be getting my copy in next week. Not that I NEED it with my backlog. I'm pretty sure I have a bigger backlog than that. That's just physical - it gets ridiculous if we're counting all the digital games I may never get to. (Most bought on sale, thankfully.)
MP also back up at Target now.

Yeah if I bought digital it would be crazy. With a list that long you can see why I don't have much need for digital.

Can't wait to play the new tracks tonight! We didn't end up playing much of Wave 3, so we'll be playing a lot of both waves over the next few days.
It's nice to know 5 more characters are coming. It's worth noting that the previous trailer said "Characters from past Mario Kart games are on the way", so don't expect any brand new characters to the franchise. Off the top of my head, these characters were in past MK games but not MK8D:
Diddy Kong
Funky Kong
R.O.B.
Wiggler
Honey Queen
Petey Piranha
Donkey Kong Jr.
Koopa Paratroopa
I've not kept up with Mario Kart Tour, but I know there are some more exclusives in that game, Pauline being one of the bigger ones.

What's going on with the Wii U? Seems like there's suddenly been a lot of people trying to get a Wii U on here? I know some Wii U's are failing after sitting for too long, but surely it didn't happen to multiple people here all at the same time.

Eshop closing in a couple weeks, maybe people are trying to get some last minute deals on digital versions of expensive physical games
I am a person whose Wii died doing a firmware update. My replacement updated fine. So u have a 50% success rate.

If you mean “was I up too late and probably a little delirious”, then yah you better believe it. But also I didn’t put 2 & 2 together and had no idea what “Fusion” was when ol’ Blood mentioned it. Thought he was saying some other game got DLC lol. Admittedly not a huge Metroid guy.

Played Dead Cells for the first time in a couple years last night. Didn't pick up the Castlevania DLC, but I had recently picked up all the previous DLC while they were at all-time lows. I forgot how awesome this game is...though it seems like the performance on Switch has gotten way worse over time. Load times are way longer than before.

Loving Metroid Prime, aged better than anticipated. Wish you could turn up the brightness though. TV is a bit rough but handheld is really bad (non-OLED). Playing in my truck waiting on my kid at Karate... Near impossible to see some rooms with all the daylight.

Back in a TMNT mood so I’m finally finishing up Shredder’s Revenge. Think I have 2 levels left. Mega easy but my god do I love the art in this game, it’s so perfect. And all the little easter eggs and whatnot rule so hard. Not even a huge fan of beat em ups, but I could totally use a sequel tbh.

I've seen it described as a "platforming metroidvania", and I think that's fair. Maybe a bit more platforming than metroidvania, but there's enough metroidvania elements in it that I think that label is totally reasonable.
@back4more Both are definitely "must haves" IMO, and well worth those prices.

I'm finally playing Twilight Princess (HD). I played it once a long time ago on Gamecube but didn't make it super far before giving up on it. It was just during a weird time period of gaming for me, and I wasn't in the right mood to fully enjoy and appreciate it.
So far, it's pretty awesome! I love that it has the graphic style of OoT, only much better. I'm not too far into it yet, but it's really looking like this is going to beat OoT for me. It just seems like it's going to be better all around.

For me, GameCube is the only system I finished it on. I played TP on both Wii and Wii U but stopped about halfway through. Loved it that first time though.
Metroid Prime, on the other hand, I didn't finish on GC. I saved in the Phazon Mines last night and that's the farthest I've ever been. Really like it and hope the other two come to Switch.
