Yeah the rumor for the longest time was that the whole trilogy was getting remastered together, then about a year ago it changed to just the first game. I wouldn't be surprised if they do end up remastering the other two games but releasing them all separately so they could get more than they would have if they had just bundled them into one $60 release.
I thought I read something around the time that the focus turned to just the MP1 remaster that MP1 was a landmark title they wanted to do right, but 2 & 3 might just get ported and bundled together mostly as-is. Remastering all 3 games either separate or bundled wasn't something they felt strongly about doing. But given the interest in MP maybe they'll change their minds.

A developer on the original Metroid Prime is disappointed Nintendo didn't include the original dev team in the credits of the Remaster. I think it is a dick move, though I wouldn't have known this if he didn't Tweet it because unless a game is playing a licensed song that I like during the end credits, I will never not skip them.
But still, I see where he's coming from. The Remaster team is like a cover band doing someone else's work, it's only fair Nintendo should have credited them too (they did it for Skyward Sword HD).

I think it’s more akin to an artist doing a remix or their own version years later rather than your cover band analogy, but regardless It’s definitely strange to not credit the original team in the credits though.

Kinda bummed about this. Doubt there’s many players here but I started playing this on the switch during its beta and then on PS5 when it was one of the monthly free ps plus games. Redownloaded it for my sons Switch when it went FTP and it was the first multiplayer game my son and I played together (he got surprisingly good at it). Next season will be the last and servers are shutting down other than for PC players.

I’m a little shocked because they had paid TMNT content starting in season 7 and added more character's as recently as last season. I figured it was doing ok. It was a very fun game and I’ve put over 400 hours into it with my son. We’ll miss it.

A lot of live service games are getting the plug pulled.

For publishers, apparently everyone wants to be Fortnite or Rocket League. A decently successful/profitable game is now a complete failure to them.

If Rocket League ever shuts down, I simply don’t know where my life goes from there.

I'm kind of psyched for Metroid Prime Remastered. I really enjoyed it for the Wii, years ago. The lower $40 price is appreciated too.

I guess even the Wii game is a GameCube port... and there are more Prime games for GC... If I could play those on Switch, it would be cool too.

I was disappointed that Metroid Dread went back to 2D. I hear it's a good game, but side-scrollers just seem old to me.

It seems like they could make an original 3D Metroid Prime game for Switch and it would do well.

Is the physical copy of Metroid Prime going to be a limited run? Apparently pre-orders are sold out everywhere. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about my decision to wait for a price drop.

I just read the Wikipedia page about Metroid Prime 4. Announced in 2017... silence... 2019 Development restarted... more silence. That's unfortunate.

I also heard that there are still plans to remaster Metroid Prime 2 and 3 for the Switch as well. I'm predicting they'll be piece mealed to us over the next year or two to hold us over until they figure out what the deal is with MP4.

Nintendo Switch, like multiple Nintendo systems leading up to the Switch, are leaning way too heavily on remakes compared to brand new content. I don't mind because I still enjoy the old stuff, especially with new looks, but damn get to work on loads of new content.

Which companies are doing it better? There are a ton of remasters that have come out from all kinds of companies.

Sony has the Sly Collection, Jak and Daxter Collection, The Last of US, etc.

Capcom keeps remaking/remastering Resident Evil games and releasing 90 versions Street Fighter 2.

EA just gave us Dead Space, but we've so had some Need for Speed remasters lately and Burnout Paradise.

Nintendo with the Switch was maybe worse because so many early titles were Wii U ports.

Some games are so good people want to keep buying them, so publishers would be dumb to leave the easy money on the table.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium games on sale for $0.99 apiece. They also lowered the normal prices to $1.99 each, like the first collection.
