No reviews yet... Really curious to see how this goes. At the very end of Ys 8 and debating Last of Us, Dead Space, or Forspoken. Kinda in the RPG mood and hoping Forspoken delivers.

Review embargo ends tomorrow. It’s the next big game I’m playing. Mine was actually scheduled to arrive today early but then got delayed. It’s 5 hours from my house, so I’m assuming I’ll be able to play it tomorrow night or Tuesday night. I’ll report back.

I played the demo and it went from a must-buy to a game I may not even pick up. The combat is fun once you get a hang of it, but the world is completely barren and the dialogue is truly awful. Hopefully the demo isn't representative of the final product, but from what I've played, I'll be shocked to see this score higher than 72-73.

That seems to be a pretty common opinion. I wonder if the demo did more harm than good.

Truth be told, game was hardly on my radar but based on ACG's commentary it's an easy pass. Playing as an 'angry teen' who never grows out of that and drops F-bombs constantly in a beautiful yet barren and pointless world... No thanks. Looks-wise it reminded me of HZD and ACG even compared the titles, but that's about where the positives end, shame.

Ugh, reviews are looking bad. Damnit, too late to cancel my pre-order. Jumped on it from BB to get the steel book but looks like it may be better to revisit once it's heavily discounted.

I thought about just returning mine when it comes in, but I think I might still give it a chance and play it, because it looks like something I would enjoy even with the mediocre reviews. Days Gone is at 71 on metacritic, but I loved that game.

Most people complained about the side quests, story and traversal but others praised the story and some side quests. Forspoken seems to have a acceptable but not great story, collectiblefest, empty world, bad side quests but an interesting combat system. This kind of reminds me of Sonic Frontiers. A ton of collectibles, forgettable story but an interesting combat system.

Dude I loved Days Gone as well! Definitely the most underrated game of last gen, imo.
I say download and play the Forspoken demo. It took me about an hour to finish it so you get a very good feel for what it has to offer.

Dude I loved Days Gone as well! Definitely the most underrated game of last gen, imo.
I say download and play the Forspoken demo. It took me about an hour to finish it so you get a very good feel for what it has to offer.

Wow, that ACG review makes seem even worse than my initial impression from the demo. I'll wait for the inevitable PS+ freebie in a year or two. By then I'll have forgotten how middling the game is.

I'm no IGN fan, but the opening 2-3 statements of their review are concerning. Basically saying the core story is very generic and same-y as many others, plus the main character (and her sidekick) are not very likeable.
HZD was very enjoyable to me, largely bc Aloy and even Elisabet were endearing characters. I'm just not interested in playing as a character I'm reading described like Frey, just doesn't appeal to me.
Also HZD's story and lore captured my attention, that seems unlikely with Forespoken.

I just watched the ACG video. This game does seem pretty bad. I think I'm going to return my copy after all. The dialogue is annoying even in small snippets.

I haven't played it myself, but apparently the game's sales aren't so hot and I assume the reviews might have played a role in that.
