@MrBean Remote play kind of sucks. I gave up after it started dropping connections. You can try chiaki to see if you have any better luck.

I've finished multiple games via remote play. It works well enough, just wish it was better. Never lose connection, just performance isn't as good as it should be (Xbox is definitely better).
Very cool, haven't heard of chiaki, I'll give it a go!

Can Chiaki be installed on a PC? I have it on Steam Deck and it's amazing. The actual official remote play does in fact suck. I have it on Ethernet and it lags/choppy.

Looks like you can, I'll probably install it some point soon.

How/why exactly superior, and how does it work
A quick google search just frustrated me, saw some anime results and gave up

I can not get the damn python script to run ... it's blowing up looking for a module. I've tried local and online compilers. Either I'm dumb (likely), or something is missing? Did you guys use that script that the developer provided?

Hrm, so I got Chiaki to work ... the video performance is 'slightly' better as the stutter appears to be gone; however, it's still a compressed experience on the video. Also, the audio got choppy.
Gotta play more of both back to back, but right now the Sony one wins slightly as the audio is super annoying on Chiaki.

@DrizzDrizzDrizz This is Chiaki: https://git.sr.ht/~t...
As MrBean has shown it can be hit or miss depending on your setup/luck. If remote play works well for you then just keep using it.

Chiaki seems like it would be cool, but I haven’t been able to get it to work. I can get to the part where you put in the ID and pin and can generate the ID, but, when I put in the pin from my PS5, it says “Something went wrong” on my PS5.

I had to tweek settings to get the sound right on Steam Deck. I'm sure the same thing is true for the Windows app too. Reddit probably has an answer. When I get home I might try it.

Yep, there is some configuration changes ... but sadly, they don't work (appears to be common). Just start poking around, will continue to investigate later and report back, but it seems promising that you can use your PC's hardware acceleration (in theory) to help the stream.

I got mine working well with this guide.
the audio/qtaudio_windows.dll file is inside the Chiaki folder
mine is C:\Users\kommie\Downloads\Chiaki-v2.1.0-Windows-x86_64\Audio\
I played a little bit of Steelrising and it was fine, better than the official PS remote play app.
