Bronze Good Trader Global Trader - willing to trade internationally

This topic had many older posts which were moved here:

http://gametz.com/Vi...

Might as well get it started. Who's looking forward to it? I personally think that it could beat PS5, that is if they don't screw up. They need a basic UI, more first party titles, and focus only on gaming. They own the license to Rare games, we need to see new Conkers, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, etc. They did alright with Killer Instinct, I'll give them that, but they're sitting on a lot of games that needs remade, remastered, and sequels.
As far as I know, it's slightly more powerful than the PS5, which isn't a big deal. But what is a big deal is that it will come with more storage. XBSX will have 1TB, which I admit, is not much by today's standards. The PS5 will have 825GB, which is ridiculous. I'm guessing that the next gen games will be around 100gb or more in size on average. If that is the case, I expect the discs will be on 4k UHD blu-rays.

Because liking one of the most popular video game franchises of all time disqualifies you from being a gamer?

In that case can I decide that anyone who has ever played a Dark Souls style game isn't a real gamer? Better yet, anyone who has ever mentioned one, looked at one, or even read the title of one. Time to hang up your controller and turn in your gamer card, everyone who read this post. It's knitting for you from here on out. (Crocheting will also be accepted.)

funny someone brought up COD as I am busting my 360 out and plan to get the disc versions of several 360 CODs. Many of them rate 84%-88%. Can't wait to play some of the ones I hadn't played yet, and they are all super cheap now.

People who play CoD are usually also the same people who also buy the yearly Madden stuff as well. And they tend to only play those two series, and that's it.

I was skeptical about GP initially as I already had too dang many games on Xbox when they came out with the $1 sign up deal. I had been a longtime Gold sub, so I bought 2 more years of Gold and gave it a go. After it ran out in Feb I bought 3x years and it cost me a little under $120 with the $15 for the first month.
So in the just over 3 years total I've had it I've beat over 24 games from the service, put several days worth of time into both Forza Horizon 4 and 5, and tried out a lot of other titles - some that I thought I might like, could have bought, but just didn't like and others that I wouldn't have otherwise considered and ended up loving and often beating them.
For me it's been completely worth the $3+ per month that I've paid, especially since I would've paid basically that much anyhow, for just Gold. The biggest issue I've found is having too many games to choose from, and not playing the games I purchased as much as I tend to prioritize GP games.

To each his own, but I personally find a lot of value out of GPU. Outside of the broad selection of games, you have the additional 1500+ in MS Rewards you can earn, cloud gaming which is handy while traveling or can save a ton of time if you're trying out a game before downloading, the occasional perk that brings some added value, and discounts on some digital purchases. I can see it not being for everyone, especially people who want to build up physical libraries or need to have the newest 3rd party games on release day.

Yoy can be cheap in one area and still overspend in another.

I was saying people are cheap if they dont feel GP is "worth it" at $3 a month. Whether or not they actually spend the money on it is a different thing entirely, but I find it hard to believe that most people here don't do something stupid with more than $3 of their money at least once a month.

I don't buy everything that is a value for its price. There are tons of things, gaming and otherwise, that are a great value and I don't have the money or the space to buy all of them, nor do I have the time or desire to buy them to flip.

Beat Plague Tale Requiem last night. I liked the overall story quite a bit but the actual game and gameplay were not as fun as the first game. I knocked the difficulty down to "Narrative" for a few sequences and even then I still died 10+ times in a row because the game only expects you to take a very specific sequence of actions to proceed. Super lame.

FWIW I did play it on GP and that "saved" me $60. I loved the first one and would have certainly bought this otherwise.

I would tend to agree, when it comes to COD players the only game they buy is whatever COD game is out that year. I have a few friends that only play COD and that's why they have an Xbox, same with a number that only have a PlayStation for COD and nothing else. You look on there shelves and it's 95% COD with Madden or NHL sprinkled in.

My brother is an example of this, he has a group of 15-20 people he has been playing COD with for 10+ years and that's all they play. I was shocked my Brother loaded up GT7 and played the hell out of that for awhile. Though I don't think he cared for Vanguard.

I used to rag on people that only play CoD or Madden and still call themselves gamers (one of my nephews was like that), as if being a gamer is anything to boast about. Now I don't give a crap what other people are playing. There are housewives that only play The Sims and children that only play Minecraft, Roblox or Fortnite. Don't lose sleep over it.

GPU just added Gunfire Reborn and it's AMAZING. Combines so many genres into a fun, funny, great looking shooter with RPG and rogue-lite elements. It's one of those games where you can play a level on your lunch break or sink 3 hours in one sitting (like i did last night, lol). The leveling up system reminds me of Rogue Legacy.

I've been playing Phantom Abyss A LOT, my fiance has gotten into it too. It's extremely hard the first couple of tries, but then you kind of get your groove. I love the whole idea of the game.

I just installed Ghost Song, i'm going to start it tonight. Its supposed to be like a Dark Souls style Metroidvania mashup with gorgeous "ori" style graphics.

Has anyone played SCORN yet? It looks great, visually and people are really giving it good reviews and comparing to a hellish, modern day version of Myst/Riven. I just can't stand adventure games that don't give you at least a little help with the puzzles. I basically just need my brother to come over and he'll help me with the puzzles and i'll help him with the FPS segments and we'll just enjoy the game together.

Also (other than COD Vanguard and Black Ops 2), i've put hundreds of hours into every COD game since COD4: Modern Warfare. I think at last glance, i put over 450 hours into Cold War and i still play it on the regular. I'm not one of those "Call of Duty" guys. I see it as a good stress reliever and usually the campaign is decent. I really liked the campaign in Vanguard, it got open world in some segments and the story was great. The MP was very lacking or i just wasn't good at it, i don't know. It left me frustrated.
I'm gonna wait til MWII goes down to $40 or lower and i'll pick it up. I'm excited for the story continuation from MW 2019.
It gets a lot of crap, but Infinite Warfare (with the jetpacks and the wall running and sliding) was very entertaining and extremely enjoyable to play. It was just FUN. I'm always up for a goofy science fiction shooter and it hit the nail on the head, plus the zombie mode for Infinite was amazing and extremely well designed.

Not trolling at all, but other than the obvious (like Paw Patrol and Ryan's Racers), what games are ONLY aimed at kids nowadays?
Also the Paw Patrol cart racing game is surprisingly decent and fun. Ive been playing it with my niece. Its no Mario Kart, but's its definitely on the same level as the classic Nicktunes Kart racer.

COD WWII was my fav, but Cold War is right up there I loved the campaign! MW 2019 was also top notch! Vanguard has been my only real recent disappointment. I Would really love another WW2 game like COD WWII though...

Try to go back play the older ones. I realized that i skipped COD 3 which was a 360 launch title. The campaign is FANTASTIC.
I liked the storyline on Vanguard that it was mostly rescue missions and sabotage and espionage (like Cold War) and not huge battles like other WW2 era games.
And yeah, the storyline for COD WWII was great, really well done.
Oh man, you're making me want to replay the campaign for MW 2019, that torture scene was NUTS.

That's actually amusing to me. Remember when COD 4 released and a lot of the hype around it was because they're finally moving on from WWII? And then the following year all the disappointment because Treyarch's COD game was back to WWII?

I'm out of the loop because the last "new" COD game I played was Black Ops 2 on Wii U, but the disc was scratched so when I'd beat the 2nd or 3rd level of campaign it always froze at the same spot during the cutscene and so I never finished it and haven't played one since. I would like to give that game another chance and actually finish it, but looking on Steam and they still are charging $60 for Black Ops 2, and it's a decade old now!

I do have a few of the games from PS+ though, so maybe I'll give them a chance. The only games I actually bought were the Modern Warfare trilogy on Xbox 360. Once the core of Infinity Ward pretty much died and it basically became Treyarch's series, I lost interest in it (just like I did with Halo and Gears of War when those IP got handed over to new studios).

Yes, I kinda rant on it a bit in this topic: https://gametz.com/V...

It isn't an FPS. There is technically "combat" but your gun is primarily used as a key for puzzles or for very specific zones where there are creatures. Ammo is super scarce and combat is horrible though. It's a puzzle game and there is A LOT of wandering around trying to figure out what to do next. Two people figuring out the puzzles will prob help, but I think you'll both be bored doing so. But yeah, it's absolutely gorgeous.

This is funny to me because I love watching my girlfriend play death stranding because it’s pretty. But I never wanna touch the controller. She’ll ask me ever try something and I literally won’t touch the thing. Walking from place to place is literally one of my least favorite things in gaming. Like I remember hating borderlands because of it. But also I favor fighting games over everything so I can tell today when a game is definitely not for me 🤣

Hey hey! For all those fans of Xbox rewards for searching on bing and stuff they now do an auto redeem got 1-month of gamepass ultimate now for 10,500 points a month. So essentially now you can get gamepass just for searching on bing and doing their daily tasks and whatnot. Which I was already doing for the $10 a month gift card. Apparently you can only auto redeem one thing a month so idk had to turn off the gift card unfortunately, but this makes Gamepass so much more worth it to me now. Was already paying for $10 gift cards at GameStop each month anyhow

I don’t use Bing and have never. I just think it’s injustice that the internet is gated by a middle school level spelling test. That’s indoctrination.

LOL now i have a mental image of closet Bing users.

"Hey, honey - I'm doing some Amazon shopping for Christmas and accidentally closed a tab... is there a way to re-open it?"

"Uh, yeah, you just click on the History button and it should show you the last few pages you were on, you can find it there. Wait, which computer are you on?"

"Thanks! I'm on your laptop. So History..."

"Wait, I"

click

"HONEY, WE NEED TO TALK RIGHT NOW."

I can explain!

"Do you take me for a fool? All these years together and you never told me you sometimes used Bing? That's it, I'm finding a divorce lawyer."

keystroke sounds as they type divorce lawyer into the address bar.

"It's even your default search engine? I thought I knew you! I'm sorry but... this is for the best."

gunshot sound

One thing I used to think was so very cringe was how Jimmy Fallon would try so hard to promote Bing (I guess MS and NBC were doing some partnership? I dunno the details) but it's like he kept forcing that word "Bing" as if he wanted all viewers as well to replace "Google" from their vocabulary with Bing just because he was getting paid to do so.

This had to have been a decade or more ago because I stopped watching any of the late night talk shows on NBC after the way they handled the Conan situation (plus Fallon is trash anyway).

Ya Bing is just one of those things that never took off. It's not very good and doesn't give me basic results half the time like Google, DDG, and Brave serve up. I think it's funny they have to bribe people to use it and it's still not being used.

I keep thinking they'll kill it for good like their horrible windows phones but i guess they're still going to try to keep it going for a little while.

Ok….like I don’t use it to actually search for anything 🤣🤣 I do it for the free money. You can literally spam a letter and then just take one away each search. It’s literally seconds of my day whenever I do think to do it.

I do the Bing rewards stuff...basically I click a few links and answer some light trivia while on the toilet in the morning. It takes maybe 5 mins a day and I usually end up with $10 xbox credit each month without actually using Bing to search, I just do the daily stuff and also the Xbox rewards (via the GamePass app). Every day you earn an Achievement, that's 50 points. It's really not anything I wouldn't already be doing, and I still don't need to use Bing.

I've been claiming the Bing points for a long while, normally redeem for MS store credit to buy games/DLC and that's served me well. I will jump on the Edge browser, gross I know, but they give 20 extra points/day for searches on there. I just go across the trending topics to get the 170pts, then do the handful of daily extras. I try to remember to do that everyday as they give consecutive day bonuses, but I forget often.
I don't generally use it on my phone, which would give another 100/day. I then try to do the GP related things on my XSX and/or phone with the cloud gaming app.
I agree Bing and Edge are generally crap but all of the free games and such that I've redeemed over the years has been well worth it. I'd guess I've used the points to buy at least 20 games, possibly more. I did get a year or two of Gold as well I believe.

I have a PS5 arriving tomorrow and God of War Ragnarok on Friday. That game is literally the single reason I was waiting to get a PS5 and I'm stoked.

I'm going to swap my XSX with my son's XSS for now because I won't really be playing anything on Xbox until I beat GOW2. And he's been wanting to play some of our physical games so it's kind of a win-win although I really can't stomach the XSS resolution at this point.

Interestingly my research for PS5 exclusives (that I want to play) hasn't resulted in as long a list as I expected. Lots of PS4 stuff I missed once I got the XSX (even though we still have a PS4). So I'm interested to see what I think of GP on the XSS when I have a PS5.

I still admire Xbox taking more chances than Sony. But God of War.

since I busted out my 360 I am going after these Call of Duty Collections like Modern Warfare Collection, the War Collection, etc. . And one thing I've noticed. Call of Duty really hasn't done crap in the last 10 years. There's advanced warfare (also on 360), Infinite Warfare, WWII, Cold War, modern warfare remaster, modern warfare remake, and that's about it. Guess the 360 was the golden age.

Scorn tips:

Once you get Weapon 2 and use the Station with all the weird Orbs, you need to reload (X) In order to use Weapon 2.... Yeah. I got pretty far in Act III thinking Weapon 2 did nothing. It's like a small shotgun and Weapon 3 is a bigger shotgun.

I'm in Act 5 so this is the last one... I have some opinions on this game, boy howdy.

Scorn - Do not play this unless you want to give it a shot. When you complete a Puzzle your response to beating it is more so "Well, that was dumb/annoying" and not "Wow! Great puzzle!" Puzzles are "brute force" with no clue what to do other than figure it out.

The game gives you no hints about anything. There is no lore, story, or anything. "Lore" implies there are documents to read or things to interact with. Nothing here. All you do is wander from place to place, pulling levers or finding dead ends and running away from the awful enemies. Apologists could argue "Well, your character has no idea what's going on, so you shouldn't either!" Even in the From Software games there are tutorials. Nothing here. Need to figure out what a button does? Pause menu. There is a "healing" station and an "ammo" station. In order to even use Weapon 2 (which looks like a pistol) you have to hit "X" to reload it in the first place after getting ammo. I got to 3-2 before realizing this. I did beat the entire game with no guide, but it gave no real satisfaction. The combat is awful and should be avoided at all costs and the only Boss is a Two-Phase boss and you can run out of ammo for it. Honestly, the combat made me quite angry with how bad it is. Like the whole game. Even the aesthetic isn't really that interesting as it's just a stolen art style. I can't imagine how anyone could like this game unless you also consume the smell of your own farts. Maybe Kojima fanboys might like this "art" garbage but that's about it.

I think I'm the only one here who's beat this, it seems?

Started Vampire Survivors today. Thought it was gonna be dumb, 2 hours later, it's not dumb. It's a very basic rogue-lite but it's extremely addictive. The music and graphics are right out of late NES Era castlevania. Super stoked to unlock all the characters.

Also, The Legend of Tianding is great. Reminds me of Comix Zone on Genesis. Very polished with extremely fun combat and platforming. The fact that it's based in Chinese folklore is also great.

Has anybody tried Signalis? It's supposed to be a super old school survival horror game with retro graphics.

Saw F1 2022 for XSX on "clearance" at gamestop. Price sticker said $65 but they are still doing their 50% off clearance thing so it would be $33.

Would probably have bought it if it were PS5 (which is NOT on clearance), because I have a PlayStation compatible wheel and not an Xbox one.

Sony and MS make me mad with their proprietary garbage for controllers. It's USB - just let me use whatever controller I prefer. Even wireless headphones you have to choose between PS or XB. It's silly.

So yeah. Mortal Shell has a pretty steep learning curve but once it "clicks" it's satisfying. I was frustrated by the demo but gave it another shot once there was a PS5 version I gave it another shot on a sale and ended up liking it. They have financial incentives for hardware labs compatibility testing; they'd rather certify stuff for their console to let people slap that logo on the box, because they pay for that. I suspect the way things handle, unless the device has a dongle that switches between console types, anything not using open standards (like an optical port for audio tied into a USB dongle for wireless I/O like Sony did back in PS4) is incompatible with the other console due to their own standards being purposely incompatible. Which is why generally both Sony and Xbox intput/audio accessories all work fine on PC. They could work on consoles, if the consoles would let them!

and everything works on Switch because they don't have a hardware quality labs certification, because lol it's nintendo

I know why they do it but it bothers me when they do it. They could get certification for both, or sell additional dongles for ps4/xb capability. Butbthey don't. A decent racing wheel setup is a multi-hundred dollar purchase. Buying two of them would be silly both from a financial and from a space perspective.

So I buy my racing games on PlayStation since that's where my setup works.

Don't know the name, but it got me kinda wanting to load up Alpha Centauri... I think it's in my steam library,

Happy to see the latest Hot Wheels game coming to GP later this month, with it's DLC as well.

Here are the games leaving soon, the 15th:
Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Breathedge
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Firewatch
Lake
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
Neoverse
Race with Ryan
Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour
Transformers: Battlegrounds

I beat Firewatch and RoLW:Deedlit already and recommend both.

High On Life dropped on Gamepass last night. I'm enjoying it. It's funny and visual as hell. Combat is a bit repetitive but the boss battles are great. It's definitely a combination of Rick and Morty, Blade Runner and The Muppets.

Atomic Heart is confirmed for GP when it drops in mid-Feb, nice. I have been pretty interested in the title but wasn't thinking I would be purchasing it close to launch.

@Anxiouz I played Trover Saves the Universe last year and I get the sense that the games will be similar in terms of heavy dialog. Trover wasn't the most compelling gameplay wise, but as someone who doesn't watch Rick & Morty I fully enjoyed all of the dialog and would take my time in sections to hear it all before moving forward and triggering the next section/fight/etc.
Having a talking weapon could get a little tiresome but I think I will play the game likely next month or so.

Yeah, I really liked Trover. I hear that in High on Life there is a setting to lower the amount of talking the guns do. Default is constantly, but you can decrease that if it's too grating.

There was a Day One patch last night, so i didn't play it.
The first ACTUAL boss battle is VERY FRUSTRATING, but at the same time, very old school. High on Life is definitely a game made by gamers for gamers. It reminds me of a Bioshock Infinite boss battle where you have to constantly keep moving.
Also once you get the talking knife the game gets THAT much better. I haven't even gotten the 2nd gun yet.
If you're an achievement hunter, there's a great one early on and i dont want to spoil it and the NAME of the Achievement makes fun of a very popular video game franchise.
Yes, the combat is very...meh, but its fun and funny and looks great. I actual combat itself reminds me of Borderlands, theres generally 3 or 4 different enemy types in each semi open world, with different skins and voices; tiny ones, flying ones, medium sized grunts and big fudgeers.
If you cannot stand the voice of Justin Roiland, i would recommend not playing this or turning voices off. Your main gun sounds like Morty and just makes fun of you the entire time and makes very gross sexual innuendos.

I loved that Aliens game but hit a difficulty spike that I just couldn't get past. I know they want you to grind the first few levels over and over to improve your gear but even doing that a little I couldn't get past a certain end-level portion by myself. Agree about Aliens Fireteam. It wasn't bad, but trying to play with randos wasn't ideal - game was likely better with good communication and I'm not too interested in playing with a headset on.

I'm excited about Atomic Heart too and really hope it is at least a 7+ (out of 10) average score - meaning not sort of overhyped but mediocre. I don't need it to be a 9+ necessarily, I just want it to be good.

I had the same issue (I have an XSX and my son has an XSS) and you need to set your son's Xbox as the "home console". Login to his xbox and set it as "home" somewhere in the settings. You can only switch this like 3-5 times a year. Setting it as home links your account (and GPU) to the system and will be the default place things install remotely if you do that from the website/app.

So although your account is on his Xbox, since it's the home console he doesn't need to login as you any more and can do everything as his user and account.

Then on your xbox, simply logging in as your user will allow you to do everything.

If you have 3 Xboxes the above still applies except that on the 2 non-home systems you'll have to login as you to access your GPU.

@MrBean You can connect any USB drive you want and play lots of games from there. I have a 4TB HDD that used to be connected to my X1X on mine. If you download a game onto an external and it needs to run on the internal, you'll get prompted if you try to play it to move it first. You also get an icon on the box art that looks like a left & right arrow, one above the other - that indicates that you have it on an external drive but it has to be on the internal to play.
I keep all of my games that don't require the internal drive installed on my external and even some that do require internal that I'm simply not actively playing. Transferring btwn the drives is pretty quick/easy and I don't like to have more than about 75% of the internal space used up.

Yep @bonham2 - I don't know the exact external drive I have, bought it too long ago and don't feel like looking behind my XSX to verify. I also have this one that would work, I just don't have it connected to anything:
https://smile.amazon...

I have a 2TB one I bought off a fellow GTZer for my PS4 as well. Basically it doesn't have to be 4TB and with the XSX you don't need to use SSDs if you don't want. For my X1X that I still use, I'm looking to connect up an external SSD as the internal drive is slow and I've seen some research that suggests opening the system to replace the internal drive is barely, if even at all faster vs. an external SSD. Since I use the X1X mainly for 360 games and indies, I'm thinking of trying a 480GB micro drive I got on clearance from Walmart like 2 years ago.

Trouble is with how MS and Sony I suppose handled this latest generation, many games that have launched in the past ~2 years aren't truly Next-Gen and don't have that requirement. But it's a mixed bag. Infernax required install in the internal drive, but it was more/less a 16-bit era title, but Bugsnax doesn't, nor The Ascent, GunGrave GORE, Naraka or even Horizon 5 - as it has a non-Series version.

Without a 4TB drive I think I would find being a GP sub really annoying. I've got around 200 games installed onto my XSX and sure some will only play on the internal yet I have moved them to the external, but moving is a TON faster vs. re-downloading. Point is, for ~%50 of the cost for the 1TB expansion card, you could get a 4-5TB external USB HDD and have lots of games on it with most of those playable - depending on your library I suppose. And even if 80% of the games you have require being on internal, like I said you're looking at a min-2 to transfer vs. redownloading and the management is pretty decent. You can go to the 'My Games & Apps' menu, then Manage and Storage devices. Then click on the drive and you get a menu to move things and can move many at once.

Generally speaking I like, and have no issues with, leveraging an external SSD for last-gen and general storage. Moving files isn't always fast though. There are times when it blazes but other times when it looks like I could actually download it faster. If it was always fast I would have zero complaints, but the truth is that it isn't. But moving games while I'm wfh is hardly a hassle and it'll be ready by the time I clock out.

I don't play a lot of games at the same time (maybe 3-5) so shuffling seldom used games to external until I am ready for them works well.

after putting a gen4 M2 into my PS5, I can never go back to moving games back and forth. This is a HUGE win for Sony to not have some BS super expensive storage expansion. Also why I prefer my Series X and third party non GPU games on my PS5 (also the controller is better).

I was surprised with how many games I was able to install on the Series S. I hit the cap once, and it was only because of all the bloated fudging DLC from AC Odyssey, which I was thrilled to have an excuse to delete. After I axed that I could put another seven games from Game Pass on the system and I still had 25% space left.

I hooked up the 480GB USB SSD I had to my X1X the other night and after a quick format and answering some questions, I moved around a dozen games from the internal drive to it.
I was particularly interested in Wreckfest as I started playing that on my XSX and it loaded up quick, unsurprisingly, but then I played some on my X1X and it was so darn slow to load.
I can report that it's a good bit faster via the SSD so I'm happy about that. I used the 480 b/c I had it laying around but it's clearly not very large, so I might purchase a larger one now that I know it will give me a loading boost. I know the XSS performs around the same as the X1X so I'd be tempted to go for one of them, almost entirely for the Quick Resume, but I think I'm better off simply seeking to focus on 1 game at a time and sticking with the X1X.

Here's hoping/thinking it might pull a Mortal Shell and come back to the service. I had it in a list of GP games I figured I had plenty of time with, but it is nearing 5 years old now. For the first time in a while GP is feeling a bit weak to me.

I wasn't necessarily complaining, nor sure if you were referencing me, but I did set Yakuza 0 to install just the other night as my selection of installed GP titles was feeling smaller as of late.

I will not complain about GP in general as I've tried, played and beat a bucket load of games via the service in the 3+ years I've had it such that it's been well worth my money. I've also used the Live to GP dollar method twice so it has been a great price period. I've tried games that I learned quickly that I was glad I didn't buy, I played games for basically free that seemed interesting, and I beat games that I likely otherwise wouldn't have even considered. I'm actually okay with the selection shrinking a little vs what I want to play on it, since it'll give me a little more time to focus on the games I actually purchased.

I have not played any of the Yakuza games. I haven't even tried them. What are they most like? I always got the impression they were like weak, Asian versions of GTA. What would be the best one to start with?

I took a few months off of GP because I was getting a little bored. It's still an absolute great value, but I wasn't using it to the fullest, so I decided to take a few months off. I'm back at it now and keeping very busy. My son and I are playing It Takes Two, which is absolutely terrific so far. My only "complaint" is that there are too many rogue-likes and not enough JRPGs at the moment. I tried Ni No Kuni, but it feels a little too much like Pokemon for my taste.

I wasn’t actually talking about anyone specifically but there is a lot of slamming on how bad it is usually, and notably from people that haven’t played Yakuza….shame. 🤣I definitely think it’s always worth it IF you have the time to use it for its value. Like any sub service really though.

Yakuza like GTA? I’ve actually never heard that comparison before. It’s An interesting one, I guess in terms of variety it could be. But first off….you don’t drive….that is until I got to Yakuza 5….dang it these games are actually very hard to explain.

I’ll say this as to where to start: if you like beat ‘em ups: start at Yakuza 0 if for some reason you favor RPGs you could start at Yakuza Like a dragon as it’s a totally different storyline.

Or you could play the Judgement games if you want it more modern, they’re actually cheaper than gamepass nowadays it seems but they’re not on there yet.

Ya I don't think people slam it as much as just say how it's not worth retail, but it is worth the discounted price we all pay. There have been some decent games, I personally like the Gears games and even though Halo Infinite shipped incomplete now it looks to be a good experience.

I have never played the Yakuza games, they all looked kind of goofy to me, like hard to take seriously, but I don't know much about them, so may give a shot at some point.

The clips that you’re seeing that are goofy are more of the side quests, which I LOVE! It gets real silly. If you stick to just the main storyline and don’t do side quests I could see it seeming more serious. Gears is also my fav, but I also have the disc so gamepass wasn’t the reason for gears.

Idk how it couldn’t be worth it. You could literally use bing as your search engine and not really pay anything. No other sub service let’s you do that unless I’m mistaken.

What I’m currently doing in Yakuza: trying to survive blizzards in a remote small village. I’m shooting bears and deer and setting traps to catch foxes and rabbits and such. So basically Right now it’s comparable to Big Buck Hunter than anything.

The Yakuza games get kind of tedious after a while, i have a similar feeling about Shenmue.
I loved Yakuza 1 and 2, got tired of 3.
Picked up Like A Dragon recently and i really enjoy the new combat system.

I initially hesitated about getting GP as I've used Bing to earn points for a long while and have a sizable backlog of digital games purchased from redeeming those Bing points. Thus some of the marquee titles I already owned and beat - Gears, Halo, Forza specifically.
I've found that I've played a lot of smaller indie games via GP like Flynn, Omno, Raji, Tunic and many many more. To that end, financially it's maybe not as valuable as those games are cheaper to purchase, but I've also tried a number of games that sucked and that aspect brings greater value, IMO.

Sometimes the biggest difficulty I have is choosing my next game to play, as they've got way over their advertised 100 games. Even after noting earlier that I felt like the number I had installed and looking to play was shrinking some, I have over 55 games that I'm interested in starting or completing.

It’s not a “new combat system”

They literally changed it from a beat ‘em up to a turn based RPG. Which is about the least tedious thing a company could do with their game 🤣

Thats LITERALLY the definition of a "new combat system", Professor.
Turn based and real time beat em up are different combat systems...

The expansion cards were like $120 around Black Friday, i slept on it.
If anything the 500GB gives me more incentive to finish games lol, though right now i have 2 GIANT games installed on my XS (Witcher 3 and Borderlands 3, plus COD Warzone 2.0).
I don't like that there's no way to play the downgraded Xbox One versions anymore. I don't need graphical enhancements on Mortal Kombat 11, so i deleted it and i'll just reinstall it when the boys come over.
Same with The Witcher 3, while i appreciate the free upgrade, i was plenty enjoying the Xbox One version, i wish i could downgrade it back to my Xbox One external.

I remember it being in the first game, but the explanation was really more of an info dump (seemed like a copy/paste of a Wikipedia article). Furiten is probably the hardest concept for people to grasp (judging by the various "Why can't I win?" images posted in certain mahjong forums)

It wasn't until years later when I was sick one day and stayed home from work, this YouTube video popped up in my stream:

https://youtu.be/ooY...

Once I understood the basics of classical mahjong from that video, I found the rules for Japanese Mahjong to be a nice step up, but the game is 10x better than the increase in learning load.

Now I own three sets of tiles (Chinese with letterd and numbers in the corners, Japanese with no notations, and American style which is almost an entirely different game), and maybe a dozen or so mahjong video games.

When the big emulation boom hit in the early 2000s, i got a SNES emulator and a TON of ROMS and got addicted to a Japanese only Mahjong game, but it had pretty easy to follow English instructions with a nice tutorial.
Tutorial's are in EVERY game now, but can you imagine a game from the early 90s having a built in English tutorial?
One of those ROMS taught me Chinese Chess as well, and i've become obsessed with that. I own a few Chinese Chess sets, its so different than anything else we have.

That's nuts - do you remember what game it was? I've never seen a Japanese released Mahjong game with any significant amount of English (usually just menus).

As a side note, while it's great every game nowadays seems to have a tutorial, I shate that many of them are still unskippable.

The X/S Version of Werewolf: The Apocalypse is $10. I've been waiting for this game since 2009. It's the same indie level studio that did the fantastic stealth game Styx: Master of Shadows.
Ignore the reviews, it's a throwback to ridiculous, gory button mashers. It's a stealth game when you're a human or wolf and then if you if get caught or get angry during a conversation/interrogation, you turn into this ridiculous werewolf with a ton of powers. Graphics look fine for an indie game trying to make a AAA game, the animations on your character are great and the monsters look fantastic. The soundtrack is a well done thrash metal instrumental type.
It reminds me of Hulk Ultimate Destruction because LITERALLY everything is destructible in the game.
It's worth $10 bucks and i'm enjoying it more than most AAA games i've played recently.

I enjoyed it for a night but it gets old really fast. Then you notice how dull, repetitious, and actually broken it is. You can just ignore stealth altogether and just fight everybody and it makes no difference. So why have the stealth at all? And why make a werewolf game where you're inside buildings 90% of the time and all of them look identical?

I rather enjoyed the 2x PS2 GunGrave games, but that was a long time ago and I traded them away. The newest one I was excited for but after 1 play session and just 1 boss I wasn't very good and didn't like it too much. I need to give it a 2nd chance...

The newest Gungrave is awful. Barely could get through it.
I'm still enjoying the hell out of werewolf. It's exactly what I wanted. Not every game has to be an epic piece of art. Werewolf is certainly the Michael Bay of games, fast, fun and rediculous. I don't even try to be stealthy anymore. I'm not trying to get the good ending.

Is the Doom 3 in Gamepass the updated one withe the flashlight mod?
Also, is Dishonored Death of an Outsider worth playing? I wanted to get another shooter or two in before Atomic Heart drops on Gamepass.

For the life of me, no matter the way I try to play Gamepass or my Xbox through my Steam Deck remotely, it lags and makes it unplayable. It's either a half second to a second delay, massive frame dips or both. My Xbox just isn't in a spot I normally play in and remote play would be way better.

Highly skill dependent. 5-6 hrs if you’re on it. Probably like 15 or so to plat.

It’s heavily influenced by simon’s quest- a game I would rent often as a kid- so it was a complete joy for me to play.

I just tried Deaths Door, very cool game. I only just started but died about 5 times on the first soul I'm supposed to capture.

As far as remote play, I am trying it in a different location on wifi on my 5th gen 12.9 iPad Pro. I was able to get Red Dead to load and work but I tried Fortnite and it goes to the menu and tells me to reconnect the controller. I tried Deaths Door and No Man's Sky and it gives me an error that says quit remote play first. Disconnect your remote play session to play games from the cloud, or launch something already installed

I'm sure I'm not doing something right but I'm loving this Series X

Sadly, it was not that great ... I was kind of disappointed. Still, super early build, will revisit once it's final.

I was afraid of that. I love Arkane's games. But this one doesn't look good to me. I'm not sure I'll like this one.

Holy god, i took a little nibble of an edible yesterday afternoon and played that Hot Wheels game for like 4 hours yesterday.
Wow, i am hooked. I really like that the campaign is challenging, some of those races are NOT EASY.
I really like that you're able to sell back or scrap cars you get in the loot boxes, i wish more games would do that.
ALSO, WOW, the soundtrack is amazing. I don't know if its an original score or they got unknown licensed tracks, but its a great mix of funk, electronic, dubstep and trance.
Ignore the bad reviews and download that when you get a chance.

Here's the new set of games leaving GP at the end on the month: Alien: Isolation, Octopath Traveler, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Crown Trick, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Far: Changing Tides, and Madden NFL 21
Good riddance to Far, that game was boring and crap.

These are leaving GP on March 15th:
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy -- Console and PC
Undertale -- Console
Young Souls -- Console and PC
Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition -- Console and PC
Goat Simulator -- Console
F1 2020 -- Console
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games -- Console and PC
Paradise Killer -- Console and PC

GotG is a solid game especially if you like 80's nostalgia and music. I will be looking to complete KRzero that I started in January.

I'll be honest even before the EA buyout the yearly updates were generally not much more than Madden. At least they have to add new tracks when they race st new places.

And I think they added the microtransaction currency "pitcoins" thing prior to the EA buyout.

I still get the games, just later and cheap.

@Bleed_DukeBlue Kentucky Route Zero was alright so far, there's 5 main chapters that I believe are somewhat connected and somewhat not. I completed the first 2 in 4+ hours, I think. It's a point-click style adventure that's got lots of dialogue to read. The story was different, as said I think I'll seek to finish it since it's interesting and not challenging.

Hope not, i want to get a disc X when they go down in price a little.
I'm running out of ways to watch my physical media.

What do you guys think of PowerA Xbox controllers? Do they feel pretty good as compared to first party controllers? They’re significantly cheaper and reviews seem pretty good bit I don’t have access to one personally to try. I have two PowerA controllers.
One is a wired Xbox 360 one i use for PC gaming and the other is an alternate PS4 controller.
No problems so far, i've been using the 360 for YEARS and the ps4 one gets used at parties. The sticks are a little off on the PS4 controller.

As far as charging, get something like one of these, its the best 3rd party ive ever had ever. I get a SOLID 6-8 hours out of each full charge.

Midnight Suns has consumed my life, but i put an hour into that Valheim game that just hit Gamepass.
It's fun, i don't like the crafting, but everything else is pretty neat. It's really just fun to walk around that world and explore.

Any recommendations for racing games on Xbox/Gamepass?
I've been playing the Hot Wheels game quite frequently. Is the new Forza decent?
I downloaded NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered and i'm thinking about picking up Midnight Club Dub Edition since its on sale.
Also there's a Free To Play racing game (Super 6? Super 9?) that gets good reviews?
Any recommendations? Thanks guys

@Simon_Belmont Horizon 5 is likely the best Horizon game, it's better than 4 IMO. Hot Pursuit was pretty good, but I beat the original version on the 360 so I knew I'd like it. If you've got GPU then EA has several Need 4 Speed titles available. Don't play Rivals though as it's busted on the system and EA has never fully fixed it.

I haven't had to buy a controller for my Xbox in a while. I buy them New from Gamestop, 2 at a time, get the extended warranty and then if the controller hasn't broken or have stick drift by the time the warranty is up, i *cough* drop the controller a couple times, and trade it in for a brand new controller hahah. The White Xbox X/S controllers are garbage and usually break or have something start to jam by 3 or 4 months. The black one and the blue one are the most heavy duty.

Are you saying the first party controllers vary in quality by color? That seems so strange. How are the black and pulse red ones in that case? Those ones are currently on sale. And it’s funny you mention your GameStop warranty trick because that’s pretty much exactly what the worker there a couple of days ago was suggesting I do haha.

I like Horizon 4 slightly better than 5 due to the setting. Mexico is fine but there is a LOT of desert and the seasons don't seem to matter that much.

Is Dirt 5 or Wreckfest on Gamepass? Those two are a lot of fun.

Both Dirt 5 and Wreckfest are on GP. I beat Wreckfest recently and found it alright, the nature of the style of racing means you can go from first to mid-pack quickly thanks to figure 8 courses or aggressive AI or just bad luck. I'd say it feels less like a pure racing title and more of a car themed game, but if you like variety then it's good.
I like Horizon 3 the best based on the setting and music mostly. My cloud save got borked in 4 so that sucked as I had several days worth of progress, had done basically everything but I can't really go back to it now. I'm looking forward to the new DLC for 5 that drops soon. 5 isn't perfect but I like the lower impact of the seasonal changes vs in 4. 5 having the Rivian and some newer cars helps.

The series X/S First Party controllers have a noticeable quality difference depending on color.
The bumpers of the white ones always go early and the select button always gets stuck first.
I had a yellow one straight out of the package that had a messed up Y button within a week.
First party black ones are great, i haven't had a red one since 360 days and it's the Gears of War one and it's held up like a mofo.
Basically, stay away from first party white ones.

That's also what the delivery guys said for Bobs Discount Furniture, buy the 4 year warranty and "break" the couch before it's up and they'll replace it with an equal or similar model.

The engine for Wreckfest is amazing, however the actual gameplay is frustrating. You have to start out racing lawnmowers and work your way up.
It's like NFS Porche Unleashed where you start in the 1920s and have to "race" cars that go 25mph.
The last Horizon game i enjoyed was 3 i believe.

I honestly haven't done much in the career mode in Wreckfest. The racing is great (even on lawnmowers) but not at all a fan of the demolition derby events. I typically play a lot of custom races that are just more fun.

If anyone's interested I ended up getting two of these PowerA Metallic Ice Enhanced Wireless controllers:

https://www.walmart....

My first impression is that they're pretty nice. Probably the best third party controller I've used in a long time. I bought these for my kids so they're not going to be nearly as discriminating as a typical hardcore gamer but even so I really like these especially for the price. Build quality is impressive for this price. I got 2 year Walmart protection for only $2 per controller so if reliability becomes a problem I can always fall back on that.

Haha no worries bro. I mainly bought that color because I thought my kids would dig it but honestly in person I’m digging it too. Wife likes it too. It feels really good for a third party controller and if it holds up for at least a year I’ll definitely feel I got my money’s worth especially at $25.

If you have Rakuten you can get it even cheaper since they’re giving 10% cash back at GameStop where it’s the same exact price. They’re clearancing several different colors including the one I got:

It took 2 years to get a 2nd choice, and it's only $40 cheaper. That's better of course but I've only see the small ones go on sale. So I think prices are going to stay put, although Seagate will prob match prices or go on sale more to be around the WD price.

It’s just a really fun game to mess around in. So many modes and options. I always like the moments, showdowns and RTTS modes. Lots of content.

So Redfall is releasing locked at 30fps. Choosing to only release a graphics mode and skipping a performance mode until a later update. Seems like a very odd choice for an online first person shooter.

I personally can't remember a game where I chose graphics mode over performance mode since that became a thing in AAA games.

Probably due to the limits of the XsS

Yeah I always go performance mode 99% of the time. Even in cinematic games like The Quarry I chose performance because it just ran smoother.

I keep forgetting about the XsS and their odd desire for everything to work on an inferior piece of hardware.

A Plague Tale at 40fps on my OLED with VRR I didn’t mind as much as I thought I would but it would have probably ran a little smoother at the standard 60fps if they had a performance mode option. I did notice frequent hiccups and frame stutters throughout my play through of Requiem as well in areas with a lot of demand for a boost in the GPU like some of the sequences with all those lovely rats.

Ubisoft+ just hit xbox.
Its 60 games.
$17.99 a month.

It cost more than GPU. But every Ubi game hits it day one. So there is potential to signup for one month to play an ubi game when it comes out. I'll probably do this for the next AC game. Instead of paying $70 for it.

$18 is a bit steep for what they’re offering. Would definitely wait for the titles I want to play and just subscribe for that month.

I have access to Ubisoft+ through PS+ Premium (PS+ Extra users have it too) and there are not 60 games currently in the catalog (52), but also some of the games in the catalog are for PSVR, so they wouldn't be on Xbox. I'm curious what differences there will be.

Is the new games being added on day one exclusive to the Xbox side? Ubisoft games are never on my radar, so I've never noticed when new games get added or how close to release they get added.

It looks like its 65 games. And all editions that include all DLC are included as well. As for day one, I have no idea about it being exclusive. I have PS+ premium as well and wasn't even aware it was apart of that.
