A deal from GameStop:

They had the game on clearance ($49.99 still...), but they had a 50% off anything MARKED as clearance sale, so it cost me ~$25 plus tax. Didn't expect a SEALED copy to boot, lol.
I know it's nothing much, but game shops in my area still have this game marked at the $50 price point...plus: Rare GameStop deal, lol.

I won an auction, but at a frustrating price.
[imgt w=1200 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.co...[/imgt]
Ever Oasis for $43 + shipping, resulting in $51.30 altogether. I don't always go for boxes, but this one looks rather nice, with a lovely art style and pleasant-looking characters. Everything was going great until the seller added four hours to the auction, then people actually started bidding in the last hour. I made the mistake of putting 39 as my max bid and then waiting to snipe with 40, so someone else topped me with 40. I then made the rookie mistake of bidding 41 immediately instead of sniping with it. Got topped with 42, and then made the do-or-die choice of sniping with 43. I expected the other bidder to have a higher max bid to bump me out, but he didn't. So I won a pyrrhic victory. Thanks for inspiring me, @Frank ; I never could've done it without your box-dedication, lol.
Now let's see if I win a weak port of Xenoblade.
EDIT: I didn't, but that's kind of a relief.

Wait, what? How can a seller add four hours to a listing?
I found the auction and it started and ended at the same time :P

I'm fairly sure you can't do that eBay as well. Yahoo Auctions has an automatic extension thing you can put on where I believe it adds another 5 minutes if there is a bid in the last 5 minutes or something like that. I've ran into that buying off Yahoo Auctions Japan via proxy.

@Foxhack Huh. I won the item around 5 PM Michigan time, but eBay says I paid at 1:40 PM. Maybe eBay calculates time differently. How'd you find the dead listing, anyway?

Helped a coworker move into his new house not long ago. He asked if I liked old games, I said “Of course I do!”.
He hooked me up! He wanted to give them to me for helping but eventually I drove him like 6 hours so he could buy a new car.

@TwoHearted This thread should be considered won. I've been in this thread for years and I've never seen anything as glorious as that.

I’m sure there are better finds out there. I did price everything individually with vgpc, turned out to be about $2600 worth of stuff, give or take. Yeah, he’s a good guy. He paid $150 for all the nes stuff about 20 years ago, and the snes stuff was from his childhood. So I don’t think he cared much. The magazines were going to get tossed.
I’ve gotten some pretty good deals in my years of collecting. Scored all three panzer dragoon games on the Saturn for $3 each, like new with the foam still. Funtastic orange n64 for $20, all that genesis stuff in the first pic for $30, over 1000 vhs tapes for free, personally my favorite find. I think it’s good to have connections.

I’ll probably try to sell or trade some of it. There’s a few nes and snes games I’d like to get ahold of.

There’s a handful of duplicates there. I’m missing A Link to The Past though, have the box and manual just need the cart.

I found wwf no mercy, star wars episode 1 racer and the rugrats in Paris all n64 carts for $6 at savers. They were tied up in a bag with some rc car controller hanging on the wall of bags of random electronics and I definitely did a double take seeing n64 games there in 2022, unfortunately nothing great but I still bought them

The thrill of the hunt is the HIGH I've always looked for. I use to just buy games cheap to sell to support my game collecting. Until 2008 I had to sell almost everything I had and I really didn't have that much. My bad health made me love games so much. And when I sold here and eBay I always sold for a lot less because I knew what I paid for it. I knew games were a great investment but didn't think some games would so expensive. And most of the games that are of high value now were all clearanced because they didn't sell in the store. And I always knew games would be a better investment than say baseball cards as they don't do anything other than look at them. I tried to get my father to buy this stuff just for an investment but sadly he did not listen. I knew he wouldn't play them but I figured he could have a better retirement fund. I hate looking at games this way now but that's the way it is now. They say bacon is better than sex but finding games is what does it for me. I really only sell stuff now that I won't play because its just it hard to find stuff now.

Twohearted I love that Mario and Luigi game for Nintendo ds. I had the game when it came out but regrettably sold it after I beat it. Thankfully 3 years later I found the game complete at a garage sale for $10 which was more than I wanted to spend for a used game. Now it sits on my shelf never to be sold until I'm long gone because I just cant find games anymore locally. I'm not looking to get rich just trying to collect the stuff I love. But now if go to a church sale you see people with their phones out looking sell everything. They have no love for games its just about the money. I'd love to have some games that were worth some money but I'm not looking to break the bank here I'm just looking to get back games I've had in the past that I would love to have the physical copies again.

I'm in the same boat, only I never ended up picking it back up. Sold it off probably over 10 years ago and regret it big time. Hopefully I can find a decent price or a trade some day!
