Retro Set Up
It's been a long time coming but I've finally got my retro set up to the way I want it.
While it's not as neat or as stylized as those from IG, I value function over style.
This is my completed set up.
Everything is connected to a gcompsw and a gscartsw* and can output to both the CRT and the PVM.
*Except the AV Famicom which is just composite connected to the PVM and a Neo Geo CD that’s connected to the CRT via S-Video.
I will type out the complete set up in detail in the OP, coming soon.
Feel free to share your set up!
CRT: Toshiba 27" Model #27AF45
PVM: JVC 13" Model# H1310SU

I'm thinking I don't need a dedicated GameCube as to open up another slot for something else.

Awesome!!!! I'll post pics of mine at some point.
I'm curious as to why you have a PS1 and two PS2's? Why not just 1 PS2 slim or something?

Some PS1 games run badly on the PS2.
One of them is a Japanese PS2, so that gives me access to all Japanese PS1 and PS2 games, as well as Japanese DVDs.

I ended up picking up a Japanese GameCube, PS2, and Wii U in the last year or so. Probably not the most intelligent decision I’ve made, but it’s nice to have more options and not paying absurd US GameCube game prices. Plus we also have full sets of Pop’n Music and Taiko no Tatsujin for PS2.

I picked up a CIB Japanese Wii with these games few months ago, planning on just swapping it in with the US Wii when I'm feeling more Japanese.

I'm in the process of re-doing all the power writing for my setup. I used to have everything plugged into three big power strips on the floor, but whenever I needed to turn everything off - like, when guests are sleeping in the room and they don't want Vegas lights blinking at them all night - it was a real struggle to reach through the cluster of wall warts and cables to find the kill switches.
I bought three long industrial power strips that are the perfect size for my shelves and mounted them on the rack with zip ties. The kill switches will all be easily accessible when I'm done, and there won't be a Shelob nest on the floor.

PVM I bought it on eBay.

Bought my pvm locally. I *just* missed getting one of the 20'' of the same model much to my chagrin.
Others were all free or close to it. It's been years so it's probably more difficult now.

GComp stuff. Out of stock perpetually and something like $240 a pop. They might even be going up from that due to parts? I'm not sure.
They are very good, I was just already invested in other switches by the time those were made.

Highly, highly recommended. If you have a lot of inputs and especially if you're going to be sending those inputs through a scaler/line doubler for use on a modern TV, the dual outputs and video quality make it worth every penny. The circuitry inside of each is specialized for gaming (vs. just any generic video source) and built to handle a lot of the weirdness of certain consoles.
People rave about the Extron Crosspoints for similar setups with tons of inputs and outputs. They're much less expensive, but they're huge, it's hard to find ones with the specific connections you want (especially with regard to audio), and they're picky with regard to sync.
Or, you can just be crazy like me and use the Extron as a central hub, and connect both gSwitches to it.

Now that retro set up is basically complete, I find myself playing more retro in the last week or so.
What’s surprising is actually how much I’ve been enjoying watching (especially older) Anime on the CRT in 4:3. The PS3 is a wonder here as it can stream from apps and it can connect to media servers and play anything from my computer.
Next up, I’ll be working on my 4K TV set up, will share that once it’s completed. Admittedly, prob a lot less interesting than the retro set up.

Raw baby.
I know enough basic Japanese to understand maybe 50-75% of the dialogue.
Something like Maison Ikkoku is much easier since it’s mostly everyday speak.

I picked up the Saiyuki SD BD and Vinland Saga for OMG!Con, and Chihayafuru Season 3 for me. Missed out on the RahXephon steelbook (standard edition comes out in July) so we won’t have that one available in time.
I like looking at Laserdisc art, but as for actually owning them... I think I’ll be OK.
We don’t have any amazing setups here. A well-loved Sharp LCD TV for our HDMI consoles (PS4/5, XBX, mini consoles, Evercade VS, Retron 5) and the US or JPN Wii U on component. A big ol’ Samsung CRT for PS3, Dreamcast, Saturn, Wii, and JPN GameCube. A little bitty Emerson CRT for NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and US or JPN PS2.

Likewise, if there's something you're looking for, I may also have it. If you'd like, I can try to get a publically viewable list of my collection.

@Gypsy @dunno001 That’s mighty kind of y’all.
We should be fine. We have more than enough shows on the approved lists to cover the time slots we have at OMG. We also have games for days. Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support so far.
Slightly back on topic, OMG does have a pretty awesome Four Swords Adventures setup.

@Renaissance2K This is why I gave up on having everything hooked up.
Nice on the vintage PC. I have an old build in a separate area with a diamondtron monitor. So good.
What display are you feeding the new consoles to?
My permanent hook-ups atm...
CRTs: PS2, PS1, SNES, Dreamcast, Saturn. Recently put the NES away as I went back to Tetris Plus on PS1 over NES Tetris for now.
Plasma: 360, PS3, PS4.
Might hook a PS3 up to the XBR960 CRT soon but I'd have to unhook something else for space.
So stuff that isn't plugged in at all currently would be Wii, Wii U, Genesis/Mega SG/Sega CD, NES, N64, Gamecube, Xbox, PC Engine (off for repair, to be fair).

The classic-styled one is paired with the PS5, and I use it to play PS4 games with the Back Button attachment. The black one (which is actually a FFXV controller) is paired with the PSTV. There's another black one behind it, but I honestly don't remember what it's paired to. Possibly the stock PSTV that I have upstairs, or it's just loose for use on PC and the like.

The HDMI out is split to the Asus XG27UQ (a 4K 144Hz computer monitor), the PlayStation 3D Monitor, and an AverMedia Live Gamer 4K capture card. There's no room for a "real" TV down here, but I like playing on a PC monitor for the low lag.
The 3D monitor is way too old for 4K signals, so it's downscaled through the HDMI splitter and piped through the mClassic. It's fine for playing older games, but I play mostly on the Asus now because of the lower lag.

Very nice, you even combined the modern systems in the same set up.
That rack looks very sturdy and holds alot!
I had to separate into 3 different areas(Retro, Modern/Last Gen and Desktop)
Retro set up I already shared. I have a 4K TV with some of the usual suspects connected, a Shield TV for Plex server.
My desktop area has PS5, XSS, and some of the mini and Analogue systems connected, a Mac Mini for OpenEmu and a second MiSTer.
EDIT: Actually 4 areas lol. My living room has Xbox One X, Switch and a second Shield TV. Mostly play games in the living room with kids.

Since I capture most of what I play, consolidating everything into one setup was the biggest goal.

http://shelving.com sells a whole bunch of sturdy wire shelves like these. In the setup I built, the top shelf is actually slightly longer than the others so it can easily be anchored to the wall while still leaving room to mess with cables.

Not a number I want to calculate. Like the total value of my digital libraries.
Doesn't help that most of the devices have been modded in some way. Everything released before the 360 (plus the Wii) has some sort of a flash cart or ODE.

I'm going to take some new pictures of my setup. Made a lot of improvements since the last photo-op (Feb 2021).

Lol those are not my shelves. Found the pic on Pinterest when I was looking at optimal options to store games. I have 2 Billy Book cases and a few smaller ones. I don’t really want to buy Atlantic ones everyone raves about. I want something that is more efficient with the space.

Stupid question, I've never used the image mark-up before - what pixel dimensions are you using for photos in the mark-up text? I've got a couple photos and want to share them.

I use Imgur, they give you links with the img tags already included. I believe bill has code in place to auto size it.

If you use the site IMGBB they give you links to embed with a copy/paste function. Imgur is useless on mobile cause they won't let you do anything on a phone unless you download their stupid app.

I think 1 or 2 have the sticker on the outside sleeve instead of on the insert. I don't know what happened, but pristine condition PS3 games became hard to find around the time they were ditching the PS2 games from the stores. By then, the stickers were all on the outside, so I swapped the cases of the PS3 games I had with some new ones. Most of the PS3 games are from GTZ.
