Why oh why do all 3 come out next month. Massive games, each requiring a substantial time investment.
What's your order of priority? I'm torn... I keep debating #1/2 largely based on friends playing to be able to share stories with.
Still, this is tough. Horrible timing!
1. Horizon
2. Elden Ring
3. Dying Light
Also not looking forward to the credit card bill for all these collector editions, ugh.

I'm starting to look for a specifically because of Horizon, so that would be what I would play if I can score one.

Good thing I don't care about these expensive collector edition stuff. But it's not good to have so many big games come out so close together. I will eventually buy all three of these. Its really hard to choose tbh.
Like if I got all three at the same time, I feel like I would rush thru them and not give them the time that each game would deserve. I will probably go with Dying Light and Elden Ring at first.

Yeah, it’s pretty rough, and I already have all three pre-ordered. I’m playing Horizon first, as I loved HZD. I’m in less of a hurry to play Dying Light 2, as I’m only a little bit into the first game and have a long way to go. Elden Ring seems like it’s gonna be great, but I also suspect it’s going to be brutally difficult, so I’ll have to be in the right mindset for that one lol.

@SilverOwl agreed, I feel like there's a rush to beat one to get to the next, not fully enjoying what you're playing.

I won't be getting any at launch, though if I did it'd be a tough decision on which to start first (well, between two of them at least).
I enjoyed Horizon: Zero Dawn very much, so much so that I took the time to get the Platinum Trophy for it and that's something I have done for very few games. I still need to go through the DLC and I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, but I probably won't get it until I can get my hands on a PlayStation 5.
Dying Light 2, I played through the first game twice and then the expansion. I really enjoyed it, one of my favorite co-op games ever. Unfortunately I no longer play with the same friend I did all that with and I don't know if I'd want to play it with anyone else and I certainly don't want to play it single player. Maybe I'll see if I can reconnect with that friend at some point.
Elden Ring is not even a blip on my radar. It's something I see get talked about around here, but I have little interest in it personally.

I've been working thru so many games on the backlog that I'm content to wait on new releases. I've been taking a break since I just beat Dark Souls Remastered (51 hours). Been catching up on streaming shows. Just finished The Morning Show - Season 2 (not good) and Cobra Kai - Season 4 (great), and just started The Witcher - Season 2.
Probably will play Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy next.

I’m kinda in the same boat as @Sun. Currently working on my backlog. I’ll have both Elden Ring and Horizon on day one, but I doubt I’ll play either right away. Pretty hyped for both, though!
Dying Light has just never really spoken to me for some reason. And that’s strange because it’s basically Mirror’s Edge with zombies and i love both those things. I remember watching footage of the first game and it just looked so…brown. And the main character just seemed like a glorified errand boy. It was an easy pass for me, but I know people really enjoyed it.

Dying Light is one of only two games I've played through twice in the past decades (other being Hollow Knight). It starts slow but man it gets good.

Didn’t finish Horizon 1 yet so I’ll wait until the summer to get it, it’ll probably be 39.99 or less on sale by then. Hyped for Elden Ring day 1, and will be getting Dying Light 2 once my friends all get it and have time for it

500 hours doesn't sound that unreasonable since I'm assuming it's multiple playthroughs.
The map on the first game was decently big as it is, then the expansion added so much more to it. I expect it to be even bigger again in the sequel.

So, I had no idea they were putting Dying Light 2 on the Switch. It's been delayed for Switch, not sure why anyone would want to play it there, but it'll eventually be there.

They did a good job with the Switch port of the first game, even if it took them a few years more than it should have. But even though they promised 5 years of post-launch content for the game, I kind of don't expect that to include the Switch version since it's just one of those cloud games and it's probably not going to have a very large userbase because of that.

I'm extremely tempted to preorder Dying Light because I enjoyed the first one, even though it was very hard. I played solo which makes it a bit harder I think.
But I'm kinda itching to get into something like Elden Ring, but worried it might flop. If I had unlimited time I would buy both but I don't.

Low chance. They released a closed demo, to pretty much universal praise. From Software have been making these types of games since 2009, it's not like they're a one-hit wonder studio like CDPR prior to Cyberpunk.

Wasn't Elden Ring the one that had George RR Martin writing stuff for too? (I rather liked Cyberpunk to be fair but no replay value.)
I haven't kept up with this one as I thought it was years out from us yet.

Could argue fantasy lore is writing. I know he was pushing it a bit last year on Facebook.
Ultimately I'll probably have to go with Dying Light because I'm currently on bed rest and will probably (hopefully) have a new baby in early March if I make it that long. So I might get Elden Ring and not have any time to play it. While right now I've literally got al the time in the world

Reviews are saying Dying Light 2 is full of bugs. Someone at IGN on PS5 got a corrupt save file.
From IGN:
Bug Alert! If your tolerance for bugs is low, I do not recommend jumping into Dying Light 2 on day one. Or day 10. Maybe day 30? I was able to play it to completion, but only barely: leading up to launch it is absolutely drowning in a sea of upsetting technical issues, whether it’s crashing (which happened to me dozens of times in my more than 80 hours with it on Xbox Series X and to others at IGN on PlayStation 5 and PC), all dialogue stopping during cutscenes, all audio being replaced with a loud screeching noise, getting locked out of quests because a character won’t let you talk to him or being unable to finish because the objective never spawned in, uneven framerates making me seasick, and too many more to list here. Most glitches are temporary annoyances or even amusing wonkiness, but some are more dire – one IGN editor playing on PS5 had his entire save file corrupted, leaving him with a never-ending loading screen and locking him out of his save pending an upcoming patch. Normally I expect a certain lack of polish in ambitious, open-world games, but even with my expectation for jankiness set to maximum, Dying Light 2 has been really, really rough. The longer I played, the more frequent the issues seemed to become; by the end I was having to quit out and reboot multiple times per hour, and breathed a huge sigh of relief when credits rolled and something hadn’t catastrophically broken my save file. In terms of stability issues and the danger of losing progress, it’s been considerably more severe than our experience with the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077, where the bugs we hit were mostly visual in nature. Techland is aware of all of this and is reportedly hard at work on patches to address it, but if history is any indication it’s going to take more than a few real-world day-night cycles to sort out this many issues.
Can't say it's surprising.

They were too busy formulating a 5 year live service plan to release a finished product. The idea of patches/updates has given so many of these devs the license to release unpolished games. It’s disappointing but I’m honestly getting kinda numb to it all at this point.

Interesting. Debating cancelling the CE in hopes it sees a price drop. They seemed to have made a lot of them. Amazon had it available last week for a full week. Won't play it till after Horizon and Elden Ring for sure with the above report.

So... Dying Light 2 was delayed shipping because of snow. Horizon shows up while we're out of state with family, Elden Ring while family in town.
Son. Of. A. dog.
I was stoked that I was going to have a week or two off between with a new job, fell through.
Gonna be some late nights and an angry wife when I finally get time to play these games.

Before you settle in to gaming, be sure to do the dishes, do some chores around the house and/or do something nice for your wife. Then she probably won't give a crap.
I might get Dying Light this week since I'm mostly bed ridden and am dying to play something. But I do have to play on my laptop which is showing some age. I'd rather not play on PS5 (it is an option though I guess.)

Has anyone changed their path on what they're playing first? Haven't seen a bunch of banter on HFW.
I only briefly saw some minor issues with Horizon, doesn't seem to be enough to delay first play through in favor of Elden Ring. Whereas sounds like DL2 has some issues that need to be fixed.
Hoping to start Horizon tonight but man... I feel like I need Elden Ring more. Always the option of playing both concurrently but that takes away from the experience in my opinion.

I am interested in HFW, but since it dropped on my wife's birthday and I still haven't scored a PS5 and am not really interested in playing it on my I simply don't have the option to play it. Plus I'm sure she'd just love me to buy myself a $500 console and $60 game on her birthday, AND tie up the main OLED TV for a few weeks.
I actually need to find a good deal on a 43" TV, I sold mine to my mother in a pinch as I thought I had a line on a good deal to replace it, but that sold out before I could purchase it, so my 2nd TV has been downgraded to an okay 32" JVC, but I miss the extra screen size.

Dude, wow. Opened HFW Regalla just now. Wayyyyy bigger than expected. It doesn't fit the spot I had for it by like half a damn inch.
The inside box is a bit jacked up, also the double disc steel box, with no disc.
A bit irritated for $280, but very stoked to play.

Heading west in HFW, so clearly much more to see... Yet, while it's fantastic so far, I think switching to Elden Ring next weekend may happen. More so because Elden Ring is more unique and I'm itching for that type of game as of late. Will see how the week progresses but right now leaning towards a pivot.

I went with HFW, I had planned on waiting and my wife's friend got it and it was enough to push me to get it. Going to start it this week, finishing up Spiderman but it seems like progression is slowing down the further I get into the story... Though it feels like I am near the end but it says I am 72% done the main story.
Was going to go with DL2, but I probably need to play DL1 first... So I am going to wait.
I want to play Elden Ring, I don't know. I want to play it but I have never tried a Rouge like game... I need to find one to cut my teeth on I suppose.

When, making it to the Forbidden West? Just too much to do?
There's clearly going to be a ton of shinnies... But at least they're way more fun than traditional types of these games.
I'm still legit torn on whether or not to stay the course and switch to Elden Ring.

Yep. It was cool then I stepped through and got a tall neck. Boom. Overwhelming. And it’s just not very fun honestly. Combat is wonky- where’s the bad guy, charging a power attack into a locked enemy I can’t see. Yikes. I’m not giving up but definitely seeing the shortfalls here.

HFW is just too gosh darn big. I'm already over leveled for current main quest level recommendation ... And I'm not (yet) doing every side thing.
The game is absolutely fantastic though. Quite happy with it. Story is blowing up (post Gaia) and can't wait to see what's further West. New weapons are cool, but don't find myself using the gauntlet or boltcaster (yet).
Wish we could respecc skills, the trees are fantastic but I find myself regurally altering my play style, which keeps it fresh and fun, but want other skills!

I was hijacking the mega thread on all things Horizon. Rebranding this one for any chats around HFW.
Happy to see they have a patch rolling out to address quite a few issues. I've continued to get hit by bugs that require me to reload a game. That and the annoying lack of map updates when you complete a Firegleam (not all, but some).

Seems to be a pretty spot on 1 hour = 1% if you're doing everything. At 60/60. Have one legendary bow and a legendary armor so far. Hoping to get more legendary weapons as I don't want to blow upgrading materials on very rare gear. Still, the legendary upgrade requirements are a bit intense.
My OCD is so addicted to this game. Non stop stuff to do. While the fighting can be repetitive, it's fun if you make it fun.
Now that I learned valors can be upgraded, it's great switching between them for bigger battles and changing up the approach. Yet still, when lazy, traps just dominate.

Hahaha, I know that feeling good sir. "not gonna drink tonight"... Famous last words. It's just so easy to keep playing once you've had a, couple.
71 hours, 76%... Spent time tonight fully upgrading my armor and hunter bow. Still working on the sharpshot bow. The upgrades for Legendary gear are a bit ridiculous TBH, they definitely didn't scale this well.

Nearing end of game. At 80%.
I'm angry at myself for getting caught up in the nonsense. I should finish and get to Elden Ring... Instead, I'm running around hunting crabs, catching fish, and shooting owls so I can finish all the pouch upgrades.
I will say this, as is any game like this (that I never follow my own advice), do more of the main story before chasing the shinnies. Clearly there's the known back tracking you see early on... But modes of transportation gets far better later in the story, that I could have been at 50 hours ago. Idiot.

Agreed.
I have such a love hate for these open world shinny games but man, Horizon... Is just fun. Both BotW and Horizon just do it better than others by making it worth it to blow time doing all the various efforts. Last one I did this was with Ghosts... Which was cool and all, but felt too much like a chore, repetitive, and not enough payoff.
Truly excited to be done and move on to Elden Ring! This community will be done by then =(

Is anyone actually playing HFW?
79 hours, 88% complete, hope to be done this weekend. At this point, totally Op'd and just running around demolishing everything, even on very hard. A bit disappointed in the lack of Legendary gear, especially no spear. At this point, should only be story left as I've closed out every single side mission, task, exploration... Done! Primary armor and 3 weapons fully upgraded. May upgrade the others but I never use them. Two bows + sling is really all that is needed.
Mixing it up with different Valor perks is fun, but realistically, only the traps, melee, and power arrows are worth the effort (more so the latter). Stealth can be fun too to fudge with the big boys and never have them see you but at this point it's about just taking them down in a few seconds with a sharpshot explosion and a few follow ups.
I'm kinda surprised how many lengthy efforts yield no trophies. I never hunt trophies, but quite a few of these tasks, I'd assume trophies should have happened as they took nearly the whole game to complete.
Definitely an amazing game. Really excited to see how it ends. I'd be shocked if they don't leave it open for DLC and a sequel. They're gonna milk this as long as they can (and I hope they do).
Very much so ready to be done and get underway with Elden Ring, and then Dying Light.

I read they left a cliffhanger. Any reason you think it'll be resolved in DLC vs a third title? Review that mentioned it felt like it'll be a trilogy.

They absolutely could delay to the sequel, but given how they ended HFW ... It'd be tough story telling I think. If they don't address what's happening at the end of HFW in the DLC, and simply add some side story, it could work, just would feel off. More so from the sense of urgency of where things are at the end.
I think they will use the dlc to launch the third game into a very different setting, after addressing what happens at the end of HFW. If they don't, I fear it'll be too saturated and milked based on how much is covered in HFW.
We'll see!

I love the main story and I just did not want to deviate from it's path. I did some side questing but really some was accidental. I am LVL 37. I am 32% done the game, I am at the point where the game tells you that if you go past this point you can't go back, so I am assuming that's near the end. That also kind of blows my mind if true. I mean damn, the main Story is what roughly 25% of the game and the other is filler? It's good filler I mean the side quests are very well done and I am currently going back to finish most and clean up a bunch of stuff I have going on. I roughly have 40 hours of gameplay time and love every minute. I wish I had more time to play, I can't even blame my kid she is awesome and actually likes watching... has to be all the colors. But my Wife wanting to spend time with me... UGH... ah it's all good. I am pretty grateful that she is doing this reading challenge, when she reads I play... works out. However, as it starts to warm up we will be doing more stuff outdoors, So I got to Hurry so I can start God of War.... Then I will bite the bullet and try Elden Ring, I have never tried the genre and I am tempted more then ever to give it a go.

Once I actually get to playing this, I'll only be doing the main story+ whatever side crap has Trophies. Open World games are awful with useless sidequests.

I would usually agreed and that's why I skip them most times... But the side quests here are largely pretty satisfying.

I sunk 82 hours doing EVERYTHING (minus Strike, kinda got boring). The side stuff in this game was worth it for the story. The rewards could have been better though. Surprised by the overall lack of gear.

Anybody here have or try this on a ?
HFW is the main reason I want a 5, but wanting and finding are 2 different things. Was curious if the bump down would just ruin the experience.

I think it would run fine on a pro. It's a beautiful game no matter what you play it on and it's definitely a good enough game that if you want to play it just play it. You could always play it again on the PS5.

Also I never did any Cauldrons until tonight... 3 of them plus a few small things bumped me 8% to 40%. Kinda shocked that they account for so much of the game.

I will be doing all the tall necks and Pouch Upgrades though, just no side quests unless they're trophy related.

There's a TON of stuff that I was amazed doesn't get trophies. I could care less about them but still. There's a ridiculous amount of story in the side quests though, worth doing in my opinion.

The 'see-er' dude in HZD was great - he was the guy you gave machine 'blood' to and he drank it, was an annoying side task especially if you didn't find him early enough to avoid having to face more machines just for him, but his dialog was pretty good.

I am doing a bunch of trophy cleanup before I finish the game... But I am having a issue with 2 trophies ...
The kill all Acquisition types. I have it all, unless that means there sub category also. But the thing is every time I killed a variation the tracker just stayed at 94%.
The other trophy is Scan all the Machines. I got the one you can miss, so that's not the issue. I know there is also one that's the End Boss... But I am still missing two that I can't seem to find.

FFS I think it's the Sunwing I am missing for the acquisition machines... I have used them for mounts but never killed and I assumed they were transport. I will try this tonight.

I'm not too crazy about this game, mostly I think cause of the story. The cool mystery was solved in 1, and this game is just like "hey, you didn't really save the world, but you gotta try again!"
I also dumped it to Story Mode just to do the story. I don't think I'll bother with the Trophies in the end.

While the story does indeed not have the first ones mystery it's still pretty gripping. I had planned on doing most side missions and everything along the way but I had to stop. The main story just sucked me in. The story is IMO very well done. The side missions are also much better in this game then the last IMO. The side missions that are in the trophy list I highly recommend. There are a few side missions in San Fran that gives out good rewards.
When it comes to the Trophies, go for it. They are not hard IMO. There is only one missable. So scan everything. Do the arena and go through all difficulties, scan everything before you jump down and that should clean up anything you may have missed.... There will be one at the very end. Plus you have access to some new venders at the end.
The only thing in this game I hate is the damn strike missions, but I am not going to have it stop me from the plat.

Gotta say IMO your missing out, to each his own I suppose.
I am 85% done the trophies. I have two more before I can finish the main quest. Basically I have one flying quest left and I need to to do Two gauntlet missions. Finished Strike, glad that's over with!! I am 70% done in game. Once I finish the two trophies I plan on doing a few more side quests ... But I am getting pretty damn antsy to continue on with the game and finishing it.
I will be able to maybe finish the trophies tomorrow, rather the two I need, but my sister and brother in law are down and we will be finishing off most of the Kitchen Reno's. So the game will have to wait until maybe Sunday.

Twitter on fire over that HZD news. Personally if the tech is better and a game is last gen I see a justification for doing it. Lots of folks shut up when they saw TLoU part 1. Although I did platinum HFW on ps4 and it was fine. The ps5 controller with weapons / feedback is the only thing that I missed.

I need to play the DLC, I honestly may get the remaster since it will probably have the DLC and play it then when it's on sale. I am in no rush, I am trying to hold back on replaying Forbidden West again... I need to finish another game just having a hard time deciding.

Last year Sony gave away Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition for free. Was it not available in Canada? I don't think it even was limited to PS+ subscribers.

It was, I think I ended up buying the complete edition on a flash deal... Just before Sony offered it. I remember being a tad bit bitter... Just like with Hot Wheels Unleashed PS5 being offered this month and just buying it about a month and a half back for no bloody reason. I am just trying to knock out AAA games in my backlog so by the time I get around to HZD DLC maybe I can get the remaster on a deal. The goal would be playing the 1st and 2nd before the 3rd Wich I would assume is in production.

Finally playing Burning Shores. Hard to get back into these without restarting but no way am I redoing 80 hours! Few hours in or so and it's coming back.
So far I'm not overly compelled to pickup any of the new vendor weapons nor armor. Been using that new material currency for weaves and coils so far.
Also, Holy crap. How did I put 80 hours in prior and not realize you can modify your quick item list (left and right on D pad), I feel dumb.
