Description

I have not witnessed a truely monumental war movie since I saw Band of Brothers, but now I am pleased to say there is another. This movie, Black Hawk Down, is one of the most incredible movies I've seen. The depiction of the realities of war are superb and are up there with the greats, such as Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers.

Ridley Scott (director of Gladiator and Hannibal) did another fantastic job with Black Hawk Down. Together with Jerry Bruckheimer (Producer of Pearl Harbor, and Armageddon) they created an epic masterpiece that didn't get nearly enough attention as it deserved. This gripping true story about bravery, camaraderie, and the intense, complex reality of war is something you won't want to miss.

The plot as from the back of the case: "In 1993, an elite group of American Rangers and Delta Force soldiers are sent to Somalia on a critical mission to capture a violent warlord whose corrupt regime has led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Somalians. When the mission goes quickly and terribly wrong, the men find themselves outnumberd and fighting for their lives."

Even the plot description does not do this movie justice. Imagine being in the middle of a city, where the entire population of several thousand people are all hunting you down. That's the basic premise for this movie, but with so much more to it.

There are some familiar and famous faces among the lineup as well:

Ewan MacGregor (Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith)
Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan)
Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor)
Eric Bana (Troy)
William Fichtner (The Perfect Storm)
Ewen Bremner (Snatch)
Sam Shepard (All The Pretty Horses)

There are many more, but those are the ones that shine the most. You won't be disappointed in this movie and it will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Such is the reality of war. This is one film you won't want to miss.
