Surge came out today. so far not bad. very nioh and bloodborn feel as in fast combat. switching limbs takes some getting used to.

Phantom Dust remaster is supposed to be out today for free.

injustice came out today as well. grabbed that on my ps4 though,

will it actually create features or is it just going to allow them to do things that would have been unrealistic to load before? like could you use an external HDD and it just take a long time to load?

i think they also thinking about the masses who probably dont revisit games a lot when they are done with them

As of now they're talking about game features being reliant on the new SSD tech. One example given was that city traversal speed in Spiderman had to regulated in order to allow for parts of the city to load while you were web swinging, so they had to moderate your traversal speed to the limitations of how fast the game could pull information from the consoles HDD. Recently, a Sony Spokesman said: "An ultra-high-speed SSD is the key enabling creators to build new and unique gameplay experiences.", so if you don't have your game loaded on that proprietary SSD then it sounds like you may be missing out on gameplay experiences. The X2 is also rumored to have an SSD included as well (talks are that the OS loads from dead shutoff to the home page in 5 seconds which is down from its current 45 seconds), so it sounds like super fast SSDs are going to be the norm for next gen and may cause issues for those who hook up external 5200rpm HDDs.

and download sizes are likely to only get bigger and bigger, unless the machines and drives will be so fast they can be compressed and the system can extract it with no noticable lag time? im not sure it works that way or not. but if something like a current gen game like rdr2 can be a hundred gigs then will a next been 200? or more? ps3 sizes were often less than 10? and now most are 40 or more? its gone up a ton, higher rez and 4k should be some pretty huge files.

Yeah that Xbox One S ADE is a giant fail. A savy shopper would just buy the One S on sale. I'm sure they will phase out the regular S in retail environments to make it look like a better deal vs the One X (at MSRP of course).

Microsoft has been making so really nice pro consumer choices, this just isn't one of them.

Ya manufacturing an ADE seems pretty stupid unless it automatically gives big percentage discounts on games or offers something other than some weak ass slightly under One S retail price.

This seems like such a waste.

I hope some type of compression system is in place come next gen, because, at the looks of things, as more sophisticated as games are becoming, that only means more depth and the larger scale it is going to be required and unless better compression is integrated, then I think we may be looking at 100GB install minimums come next gen. 4TB HDD's might become the average standard and/or necessary purchase for next gen systems.

I am wondering if they can do 1TB system SSDs and like a 2TB HDD integrated for things that don't need to be pulled as fast.

At the very least, they should have made the fudging thing a lot thinner. This model seems unnecessarily chunky.

the all digitial would likely be very attractive to the right crowd for the right price, at 169 i thnk they would have sold a lot of them. we use pretty much all digital games at our house, the kids can easily share that way basically just the way gamesharing works. daughters xbox is my home, and then my son just logs in my account and then signs in his own, and he plays the games as himself. they play the same game, together at the same time, for one purchase. so digital is best for us.

sadly this locks me out of my xbox while they are playing, as if i sign in he gets signed out, im really hoping for better family sharing in the future.

I was listing to some talk about that on some podcasts recently and they were saying that compression has come a long way and its likely that's going to become even a bigger thing next gen, so while we're likely to see game sizes get larger its unlikely that they're going to be an increase like last gen was to now which is often times an increase of around 6x.

Once more retailers have them I'm sure the price of the ADE will become really affordable and will be easily found for around $150.

thats def a sweet spot price. id consider adding one to our setup for that probably, though you can get used one s all day for around that? i think they're gonna get a false reading on the interest for something like this if they dont price it right

I guess Sekiro was only 12.5gb, Rage 2 Is going to clock in at just shy of 31gb, DMC5 is about 33gb, RE2 is about 21gb, Kingdom Hearts 3 is about 36gb. Seems like EA and UBIsoft games are all around 40+ though, and I think Gears 4 with the X patch is the winner at something like 110gb.

I think when it comes down to it, MS can probably just pull user stats to see how many people buy/use digital games vs physical and get a more definitive idea about interest from that. The ADE is just a really strange release that I don't think we'll see its true place in the market for around 3 months from now when its real market value is realized and priced accordingly.

Or as primarily a streaming/entertainment box, but maybe they want to avoid the "TV, TV, TV, TV" thing from the beginning of the generation. I bought an S for that purpose a few black Fridays ago and its worked out really well for that. My old Roku couldn't do 1080p (let alone 4k) so I had to upgrade, and for like $80 more than buying a new Roku I could buy a brand new S, kind of a no brainer. Black Friday we're probably going to see these things at $100-150 easy.
