I just started My Time in Portia last night, so I think I'll be tied up with that for a bit, and with FE:TH coming out on Friday I'll be busy for a bit. Timespinner is definitely on my radar though.

Then after that one you can play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, also on GP. Love me some GP too, soooo much content.

Also, speaking of GP, RE4 just got added yesterday. Gunna have to play through that game for the 25th time.

I loved Shadow of the TR myself too despite some mediocre reviews.

Aggelos - Nintendo Switch - 9/10 - Simply superb on all fronts with the the only flaw being some spelling or grammatical errors here and there and some minor audio dropout glitches. Anyone who is a fan of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link or Wonderboy owes it to themselves and the gaming republic to play this little gem. It's a true homage to the 8-16 bit adventure game through and through with a delightful tale with a really cool twist at the end that I didn't see coming. I would play this again in a heartbeat. It's that much fun. I just wish it had a NG+.

I forgot all about Aggelos thanks to Fire Emblem, lol. I'll finish it at some point though. I look forward to seeing that twist at the end.

Assassin's Creed: Origins Sony PlayStation 4 Pro

Despite my complaint in the other thread about this being more of an action-adventure game that happens to be an 'Assassin's Creed' game, I still really loved it. The story, both on a personal level for Bayak, Aya and their people, but also in the AC world with how the Creed started, all works really, really well. As usual, the writing and voice acting is top notch, and while some might skip plenty of side-quests because there's just so many in this game, I would advise against it. More often than not a side-quest will give backstory to Bayak or a better understanding of the relationships (to put it nicely) between the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans at this point in history.

For the most part, gameplay changes were welcome. The lack of optional objectives in missions is a relief, and the activities are varied enough (though, of course, they still repeat a lot given their sheer amount). The combat is improved, but still not great. At times the level system would hinder my progress in a side-quest, but the main story stuck close to where the average player would be (I was about 12 levels ABOVE the enemy level by the end of the game). The loot mechanic is useful only if you need money, which is scarce, to upgrade your favorite weapons, but it isn't intrusive. Otherwise, you get new weapons frequently, and most of the time they are picked up at your current character level. I have the Gold Edition, so I got a handful of legendary items from the start that I mainly stuck with throughout (the Ra outfit is hands down one of my favorite in the game). As I stated before, traversal has taken quite a step back from how smooth and agile it is in 'Syndicate,' and that made climbing on buildings less fun. But there's a significant lack of rooftop maneuvering in 'Origins' than in past games. Something I miss. You spend about 90% of your time on the ground because it's just easier or there are not buildings to climb on.

This game is truly something to behold though, especially in HDR. My god. I've only ever used photo mode like once, in 'Rise of the Tomb Raider,' but with 'Origins' I had no problem stopping whatever I was doing to take a picture. The game is just gorgeous. The environments are varied, and the attention to detail is crazy. The ability to walk around a city like Cyrene, a place the virtually disappeared due to earthquakes, poor infrastructure and then more earthquakes over 1500 years ago, is so cool.

It took me just shy of 60 hours to finish the main game, which is the longest it's ever taken me to finish an AC game and the third longest I've ever spent in one go in a single-player campaign (the first being 'Xenoblade Chronicles' and the second being 'Breath of the Wild). I did all the side-activities save for the reoccurring ones and the Trials of the Gods. I thought about taking a break, but I just wanted to keep being in this world. So I started 'The Hidden Ones' DLC, and should wrap that up tonight or tomorrow. I'll probably take a break before the 'Pharaohs' since it's the size/length of some games.

Yes, the game is a little too long and a little too big for its own good sometimes, and no it's not like past AC games in a lot of ways, but when it's moving forward it still feels like an AC game. When you're taking some time, it's an excellent adventure. Either way, for anyone that likes open-world games, action-adventures, 'Assassin's Creed' or just history in general, I can't recommend 'Origins' enough.

I had a hard time getting into Origins, but I loved Odyssey (even though I love ancient Egyptian history a tad more.) I need to go re-try it. I just haven't had time. Did you play Odyssey? It's pretty amazing. Maybe I just liked having a female lead for once too. But yeah it's a beautiful game, both of them are really!

When the world map is first viewable and I zoomed out and scanned around, I was immediately overwhelmed. Taking everything bit by bit helps. I really got into the story, and that picks up pace once you get out of Siwa too. Siwa is too much of a tutorial area (though it prompted me to look up and learn about Siwa). At times I was getting 'Breath of the Wild' vibes when I was just riding my horse and exploring.

I haven't played 'Odyssey' yet. It's the last non-mobile/DS AC game I haven't played, but I do have the Gold Edition sitting on my shelf. I'd like to get to it this year, but I want to finish the 'Origins' DLC first, then a few PSVR games I've started and haven't finished, then I have a crap ton of work/travelling that will get in the way for a couple months, and ideally I'd like to replay both 'Shenmue' and 'Shenmue II' before 'Shenmue III' comes out, because I haven't played them since they were first released on Dreamcast. OH! And I have 'Control' on preorder, and I'm really looking forward to that. So we'll see lol. 'Origins' is exactly the game I needed to get lost in at this point in time, knowing it's a huge time sink, and I may need to be in that mindset again before starting 'Odyssey.' I'm looking forward to it though.

Assassin's Creed: Origins: The Hidden Ones Sony PlayStation 4 Pro

I did finish this up last night. The DLC took less than six hours to do everything. It's a fine epilogue to the main story where Bayak travels to Sinai after four years, and there are small examples of the growing pains of the Brotherhood while they figure things out. It's a good story and you interact with a few characters from the main game in clever ways. The Sinai landscape is as pretty as the rest of Ancient Egypt, though the mountain areas are not that easy to traverse up or down here. In the mountain regions from the main game, the devs did a good job of designing the inclines and declines where, if you found the right path, you could ride the whole way to the top of most peaks on your horse and skip back down swiftly. Not so much in Sinai, and it made some of the objectives/areas a pain to tackle. Finally, Bayak immediately gets a more traditional assassin's outfit, and it looks really cool. It's worth the playthrough.

Saints Row the 3rd Nintendo Switch - 8/10 yes

Just finished this up last night. What a hoot. Played entirely in Handheld mode and had a blast. I think I may have played this on steam when it first released back in the day, but I don't think I put more than a couple hours into it then, as I didn't remember much of the story. I think it ran great on Nintendo Switch. There were a couple instances in later levels where I lost audio during the cut scenes. There were several times during large scale battles full of explosions where the frame rate dipped but it was never unplayable, typically recovered quickly. The cars were fun to drive through the massive cities. Gun play felt a bit clunky at first but easy to adapt. I thought the characters and animations looked good not great but good. Good palette cleanser and super fun. If I had a gripe, it would have to be... When driving a tank down city streets, NPC's jump out of their cars and stand, kneel or run in to the path of my tank. Not just a few scared NPC's but ALL NPC's. The whole time I was like, seriously your abandoning your vehicle on the other side of the road/freeway and then literally kneeling to pray in front of an on coming tank... good grief.

If you're looking for possibly the best Saint's Row experience in my opinion check out Saint's Row IV. It is immensely wild. And Nolan North, Mr Nathan Drake himself from Uncharted is the lead protagonist and hilarious. Not sure if it's on the Switch yet though.

Blazing Chrome Nintendo Switch 8/10- Gotta give props where props is due and no matter how many times I died to BS deaths I gotta say this is truly the spiritual successor to Contra in all ways shapes and forms and should be what Konami is making not whatever the hell Rogue Corps is looking like. This is the definitive Contra experience in the 21st century thru and thru.

Yeah, definitely the closest thing to Contra that I've played since Contra. The devs get some props for staying true to the formula, for better or worse.

I'm willing to give Rogue Corps a chance since it's not $60. I hope that game is at least decent.

Rogue Corps kind of reminds me of the leaked footage of the cancelled Streets of Rage game for the Dreamcast. I hope its good, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high with this one.
