Welcome to The GameTZ Game Club! This is my attempt at forming an easy to get into book club type thing, but with games! Anybody and everybody is welcome to join in on the fun!

Rules are simple

- Each month a random game will be chosen, by myself, for the club to play. Games can vary from the beginning of gaming onward to current generation platforms. There's no limitations!

- You have from the 1st of every month to 11:59PM EST of the final day to complete the designated game. 100% completion isn't required. The point of the club is to provoke game discussion, as well as give GameTZ veterans and new users a place to mingle!]

- For every game completed, post a picture as proof of your completion Example

- You will be awarded with a badge each month you complete the game. All badges will be proudly displayed next to your name in the original post. As long as you "roll credits" the game is considered beaten!

- Every user to complete the game each month will be thrown into a drawing to win prizes! Users will be assigned a number and 3 numbers will be randomly generated in the beginning of the following month.

- Each month's prizes will vary. Prizes will be given out by either me or TradingFin. Sometimes physical, sometimes digital. If you would like to contribute, drop me a message. smile

- If you don't own the game, and you have access to it on another platform, you're welcome to play it that way. Just make sure that it's the same version, to qualify for the prize or badge.

- If you do not want to participate in the games, but would like to join in on the conversations, please do!

- If you would like to join, just post here, and I'll add you to the list of users. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or criticism, please don't hesitate to post them!

Hmm. Maybe old school FPS like doom or wolfenstein. Hence the waffling on the optical media line.

I'm gonna call the Dark Horse here: Heretic. I'll come in my pants if it's Heretic.

Probably not, since that didn't get ports, but a guy can dream

I don't think Heretic is playable on modern systems, but I too would crap my pants.

I've played through all four episodes of the original Doom already, but I barely touched Doom 2.

From what I've seen the rehashes are rough except for 3- but it was released after 2000. I'd expect it's Doom.

Digital Foundry did an amazing episode comparing the ports of Doom to various consoles:

For my money, as a whole picture, the most consistent home port was 32x. Decent clip, music is present and it's surprisingly competent and technically impressive. SNES was garbo, PSX/Saturn ports were extremely not down my alley with waaaaaay too many changes, and the Jaguar was ALMOST good, but the system didn't have enough juice to play any music (and that controller is AIDS). I haven't played the 3DO port. Anything that came after those doesn't count because they're all for systems that were leaps and bounds beyond capable of a fully faithful port.

So I'll give the trophy to the 32x. It did pretty good. They had to cut some levels and trim some of the level designs so the 32x didn't explode but it's otherwise quite a feat for such a hunk of trash plastic.

Fun, quick game. Not necessarily something I need to revisit, and probably won't check out the sequel, but worth a quick playthrough.

I've been meaning to play Sega 32X Doom.
