I'm surprised to see no one here talking about it.

I absolutely adored it, and so did everyone in know who's at the least played some of the games.

A bunch of nasty big ass nerds must have been involved, because to make a TV adaptation of a book series with characters that have been solidified through video games seems near impossible, but they basically nailed it.

The time jump stuff could have been laid out a whole lot better, and I definitely think they went in thinking the audience would know a decent bit of lore, thus didn't bother to properly explain a few things. I kind of like that aspect, though. I'm tired of pandering nerd crap to wider audiences while sacrificing much of what made the source material great.

What did y'all think? I know I didn't spoil anything, but know that this is a discussion of the entire series, so stay away if you haven't finished it.

I really enjoyed it; inspired me to try the games.

I felt the acting was pretty good - pleasantly surprised by Henry Cavill. But some of the changes they made from the source material seemed odd, namely the choice to have Geralt find the Djinn instead of Jaskier (Dandelion, if you prefer).

It was good, but not great. Henry Cavill was perfect for the role.

I absolutely loved it. We did talk about it a bit in the Movies/TV topic. Henry Cavill was amazing!

I was cautious at first, but he absolutely nailed the Geralt we've all come to love.

Yes.. initially I thought the promos with Cavill looked laughable and odd. But wow they did nail it!

I didn't think I'd end up watching this. Let alone liking it. But after hearing all the praise from everyone I gave it a shot. And I ended up actually really liking it. They did a great job with it. And I'm looking forward to season 2. Yeah they changed some things, but so did the games. I was expecting a train wreck out of this. But this is actually one of the better adaptations of anything fantasy (book wise) that has ever made it to TV or a movie. Fair play to Cavill. He pulled a Ledger in this. Besides him and the young lady cast as Yen, who both carried most of the other actors through most of the scenes, they could have done much better with casting overall. The lioness was well cast too, she was fantastic. But most everyone else was kind of flat for me. Which really made the others stand out. I wonder if that was on purpose? Anyways, I liked it so much I started re-reading the books again. Might even play the games again.

I don't know if it was casted that way on purpose, but they may have focused on the main characters and then ran out of many because the production seemed expensive. You get what you pay for.

That said, I actually liked all of the side characters. I thought Cavill was decent and everyone else was excellent. The girl was passable.

I had no problems with the side characters. Probably the only person I didn't like cast was the actress who plays Yennifer... she grew on me towards the end, but I don't know, she felt wrong.

That's fair. I liked her the whole time, but I can see that. They has to find a gorgeous actress who could also act, was early enough in her career to be young enough for the part, yet not too famous that she wouldn't take the role. That must have been tough.

Yes it must have been. It was a nice transformation though I know her going from disabled to beautiful and perfect pissed off a lot of the internet. I didn't care, it makes sense. If you got powers, you're gonna fix what you hate about yourself.

I feel she was unnecessarily naked, a lot. I mean, yeah shes a very attractive young lady. But, it just felt like, hey we can have nudity, so lets have some.

Stupid people in Hollywood think that's part of Game of Thrones' success when no one ever gave a crap. Someone needs to tell Hollywood about this thing called the internet where you can see unlimited naked women for free 24 hours a day. Only put it in there if it actually makes sense to the plot. This isn't 1992.

Well it's not like she's not naked a lot in the games. Witcher 3 begins with them both naked if I remember correctly. Lots of fudging in that game... I didn't mind the nakedness.

I haven't played 3 in a while, but she is naked a lot lol. Just fired up 2 and forgot that basically the first scene is naked Triss in his bed

Yeah so.. it's a part of the story. The games anyway. I'm still attempting to read the books, but have a few ahead of it (though I did start the first chapter last week!)

I enjoyed The Witcher. As far as I'm concerned Henry Cavill nailed the part; he will forever be Geralt to me, just as how Takeru Satoh will be Kenshin to me.
