Pokémon Shield & Sword Zacian & Zamazenta Edition Switch lite

Cost: Unknown

Street Date: 11/8/2019

Quick notes:

* Real D-pad on left side
* Cannot be docked or connected to TV at all *Edit: Not clear if it could be docked for charging only*
* Slightly smaller screen (lite 5.5" vs original 6.2")
* Same 720p resolution
* Slightly better battery life
* No kickstand
* No IR or HD rumble
* Will function with normal joy-cons for multiplayer/games that require motion.
* No automatic brightness adjustment sensor. Manual adjustment is still possible.(thanks /u/Wyntier)
* Home button & screenshot button moved slightly lower
* MicroSD memory card slot moved to right joy-con's IR camera position (seen at 4:46 in the video)
* Lighter than normal switch with joy-cons attached. (The NS Lite weights 275g while the NS console weighs 297g (and 398g with attached Joy-Cons) (thanks u/Gol_D_Chris and u/boemmel)
*Due to its smaller size, it's incompatible with Labo (thanks u/PlexasAideron)
* Games that don't support handheld mode can't be played (but can be played with extra joy-cons for tabletop mode)
* Still has gyro controls: The console/tablet itself has gyro motion, so Splatoon 2 (handheld mode) and Breath of the Wild (handheld mode) has gyro motion, but 1-2 Switch and Mario Party uses un-attached joy-cons for its gyro motion games, so these games aren't playable without extra joy-cons. I like that turquoise one. I kinda wish they had made one for Link's Awakening, though, since it releases on the same day.

I don't know exactly when this was announced because I haven't been following switch news, but I was completely wrong. I thought they wouldn't do this because it would cease to be a switch at that point, and I figured the profit margin would be lower. Smart move on their part though. I foresee a lot of these being sold during the holidays. I wonder if it will impact gameplay at all.

In honor of ENIX, I also kinda wish they had made a lime green one.

I guess it's a switch w/o the removable controllers?

Meh no need. Got huge hands so the normal Switch is small enough as it is.

If you take the Switch out of a Switch is it still a Switch?

Completely unnecessary with the Switch already being an on the go system and seems to be overpriced given the limited function.

Is a $100 difference really worth all the cuts?

This is my thinking as well. The price cut doesn't seem to be that great considering what you're losing. As someone who's been on the fence about getting a Switch, this doesn't sway me at all.

I want a Switch, but a $100 price difference isn't gonna make me buy the cheaper one. I guess the only advantage it has is a REAL d-pad. Did @ENIX die or something? Why are people obsessed with the color of his house?

There's a topic on the front page. Green just isn't a very popular color, it seems. (Unless it's money.)

Lol at the ENIX green. That would make a nice system color, tbh.

Sorry Nintendo, no Link's Awakening SE system, no buy from me.

If somebody is only going to play only in portable mode, I say go for it.

But it's nice to be able to have the option between TV and on the go too.

If they did make an Enix color green version they would also need to pain the joystick, bezel, and buttons all green too. No accent colors allowed.
