The plot is supposed to pick up. It's supposed to be NUTS. Even tie into the new Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness sequel thats coming.

Yeah, I figured it would be a slow burn. Ep 1 was meh, but Ep 2 was slightly more entertaining.

This was always pitched to be a different show than your standard action fare that most MCU movies are.

I get that. I wish maybe they started with a different show. My kids are all excited for MCU shows and they were obviously bored with the first two episodes. Most of the jokes and the references went way over their heads.

Like I said, I think this might have been better if they released the whole season at once. Either way, I know it's going to pick up and make sense by the end. I knew about the Dr. Strange connection as well, so I am looking forward to the rest of the season.

I am not a huge MCU fan, and so will never watch this show to find out - all the ads show it as a black and white 50's style sitcom. Is that how it is?

Presumably, I think each episode will jump a decade, so Ep. 3 in the 70's, etc..

Some spoilers here so don't read if you haven't watched yet...

It's been light on plot so far but an intriguing mystery has been set up. Elizabeth Olsen has stated that Wanda represents mental illness to an extent so I find the implications toward what's happening with the Scarlet Witch character really interesting and am looking forward to what's to come.

I can understand how some kids may find the oldies vibe jarring but as someone who grew up with those classic sitcom reruns on Nick at Nite, I found the presentation of the first 2 episodes to be a fun throwback. It also shows balls on the MCU's part to try something this wildly different than what we're used to, especially after more than a year without any new MCU content.

Really looking forward to the rest of the season. I could totally see Wanda completely snapping by the end and ending up either the primary villain or secondary villain in the Doctor Strange sequel. I think it's very possible she opens the "Multiverse of Madness" that Strange has to deal with in that movie.

In the comics, it's the death of her children that causes her to create this subconscious alternate reality but I feel like this show is just adapting that concept with Vision's death from Infinity War - she did seem somewhat unstable mentally in what little we saw of her in Endgame. Though her being suddenly pregnant at the end of Episode 2 and all the "For the children" stuff makes me feel like maybe she was pregnant in the real world and lost the children somehow, but we just haven't seen any of that yet. Either way, she's definitely the one orchestrating this whole weird "classic perfect sitcom family" reality as hinted at by the "No" scene from the end of Episode 2. Whether or not someone else is goading this behavior on (like, say, Mephisto) is yet to be seen but I wouldn't be surprised. Could easily see her neighbor Agnes either being Mephisto in disguise or working for Mephisto to keep the illusion strong.

I'm hooked. I love the slow burn with all the Easter eggs and way they subtlety tell what's going on through the dialogue with one another. It's very clever and neat way of changing things up. Just knowing this is all going to result in some serious MCU shake ups, including Dr Strange sequel and apparently Spider-Man 3 among others, makes me excited and interested. I knew it wasn't going to be for everyone but those familiar with house of m should have an idea.

I'm just flat out confused at this point lol. Seen both episodes and I liked them, I like the mystery being worked at, can't wait to see what crazy stuff happens and how it ties back to the movies

I couldn't get passed the dick van dyke-ness of it with the laugh tracks and the malaise. Idc where it might take me. They lost me from the start. Where ever it's going I don't wanna go.

It was definitely a slow start, but I'm into it. I watched a lot of old sitcoms with my dad growing up, so I liked these two episodes being in the style of them. The episodes were funny, and they're clearly building up to something. I'm excited to see what that is, exactly.

Yeah the first episode was pretty jarring. Superpowers in a old style sitcom was just a crazy juxtaposition. There's really one major interesting thing in the first episode, then a ton in the second.

Luckily the episodes are short so it doesn't take a long time to get there

Laugh track? Even if I had interest in this, laugh tracks are the absolute worst.

The first episode is in the style of I Love Lucy, and the second is in the style of Bewitched/I Dream of Jeanie, so it makes sense that they used laugh tracks. I wonder how much they're going to continue with that though. The first trailer showed them in a ton of different sitcom styles, so I assume they're going to stick with it. I just wonder how the show is going to pick up while still doing the sitcom thing.

If I wasn't already invested in the MCU, and if I didn't know what I know about the future in regards to this show, there is no way I would have watched this. Marvel has earned my attention, so I'm still all in. I just wish they had started with a more entertaining show.

A hard force fed one at that. Tantamount to what they do to those poor geese to make that delicious dip they serve at french restaurants they want to ban all across the country.

I heard the 70s decade, which I think will be next week, will feature an intro like the Brady bunch intro, but not sure how true.

Some of that laugh track is a legitimate studio audience. Regardless the laugh track is purposely jarring, it's not supposed to be "real" in the context of an actual sitcom. It's all a part of Wanda trying to remain in an ideal fantasy world like those early sitcoms, so there's something sinister and sorta sad about her drowning out the tragedies of her real life with a laugh track.

The fact that there's a laugh track at all is a play on laugh tracks in general, it's not like That 70s Show where the laugh track is ACTUALLY supposed to dictate where the joke is/when the home audience should laugh.

The first episode is The Dick Van Dyke Show. The house layout is down right the same as well as the plot of having dinner guests.

Oh really? That's actually 1 classic sitcom I somehow never watched. I didn't watch a ton of I Love Lucy either, but I thought the way Wanda in particular was acting was very Lucy-like.
