I don't get people being excited for Simpsons on Disney+. Weren't those already available FOR FREE on thesimpsons.com/fx,com/etc? They keep saying Disney+ will be the exclusive streaming home, so I assume simpsons.com will go away, if it hasn't already.

EDIT: So, they already cut it back to 23 episodes.

I don't mind paying for content. I'm excited to have everything in one place for one low monthly cost. Disney have an insane amount of content.

Simpsons has been on Hulu in full for a few years also. And its going away from there because of Disney+. Its beyond me how people are happy about Disney+. Its taking crap away from other paid sources and fragmenting services even more. Many other things are going away on Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime because of this. All so people have to pay yet another service to get things they want to watch so rich as fudge Disney can make an extra few bucks on top of what they other sources were already paying them. And these companies wonder why pirating shows and movies is so damn popular now days.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney just kinda slowly absorbed and wound down Hulu in the next few years. Yeah, it's got its own brand recognition, but Disney's still trumps it by far and if its content all migrated I don't think many people would really fuss about it...

Nah, NBC wont merge with Disney. They are one of the big partners in Hulu. Disny just now owns ABC/ESPN and Fox, which are the other big partners. If they do start pulling all the other stuff, then NBC will end up wanting to be bought out and make their own bullcrap service like CBS did when they got bought out of Hulu. Which just adds another damn service to pay for.

Right, that's what I mean when I say absorb...buying out the remaining stakeholders. I think Disney has...what...60% now?

Yeah I think there abouts, maybe a bit more. That will piss me off if that happens. As I use Hulu Live right now. Because its the cheapest live steaming with the better on demand content. And with everything already being pulled, and then if NBC folds out, Hulu is done. And my cheap option goes away.

We all knew as cable TV begins to go the way of the dodo this would happen. It's inevitable. It doesn't bother me because I expected it. Getting unlimited entertainment for $10/mo and nothing else was always a temporary thing. We're lucky it lasted as long as it did.

If you are Disney, etc. there's absolutely no reason to get some of the sub fee when you could get all of the sub fee.

Disney keeps saying they want Disney+ to top out at PG-13 level programming. So Hulu likely sticks around as their way to stream "adult" stuff. There was some speculation that if they ever revived the Netflix Marvel shows, it might be on Hulu, not Disney+. Notice that even with MCU shows on Disney+, they still have Marvel shows over on Hulu as well, and just announced some new ones last week. Those are Ghost Rider and Helstrom, meant to start a TV version of their old "Spirits of Vengeance" brand. Basically, the R-rated shows will go to Hulu.

I'd be happy with that, because then Hulu wont fold. And I wont lose Hulu Live. I don't care about the Marvel stuff. But the NBC/ABC/Fox stuff I do.

I've personally felt disappointed by the selections on Hulu and Amazon Prime for years. Netflix has been better but even they're starting to get a bit stale.

Disney+ is offering a ton of new content on top of a plethora of classic content. Lots of that new stuff are things I'm obviously super into, and getting the production budget that Disney projects tend to do doesn't hurt the prospect. I'll probably keep Netflix for a bit but I think I'm about all set with Hulu, and Prime will stick around for the actual shopping anyhow. But for $8, I'll definitely be subscribing to Disney+.

Now if I ever actually cut cable, my priorities will probably shift from Netflix back to Hulu for sports and whatnot, but until then I think Disney+ and Netflix will be battling it out for my streaming real-estate.

So this happened: https://comicbook.co...

I'll drop DTVNow for Disney's Hulu if there's incentive to have both (hopefully later merged unto a single platform).

I don't want another gosh darn streaming service. I cut cable to reduce my bill. Disney has nothing I need or haven't seen really.
