Such a bummer. Definitely not getting it at launch now even though it's one of the few things from the showcase thing that got me excited.

Jedi and wake are trying hard to tell us we don’t want physical anymore. I couldn’t feel more offended by these scrubs.

Everyone is hyped over this MGS3 remake and I’m still wondering when I can have my MGS1 Twin Snakes style remake. PS I hope this Phantom Blade 0 is the Ninja Gaiden spiritual successor we didn’t know we needed and not another Dark Souls clone: https://youtu.be/0-c...
Phantom Blade 0 looks awesome! Kinda need to see actual gameplay, though. Those combat sequences looked too good to be true. So smooth and fluid!

And I read it as:
Why is this digital only?
The existence of digital only consoles is empowering us to cheap out. While a digital version would have released anyway, doing this helps pad our bottom line. We'll claim to pass on savings by selling it at the lower end of a brand new game, while simultaneously killing off used sales- every copy sold goes through our monopolistic greed!
Also, we agree- buying a physical game that needs a day-one patch is a negative experience. So now we can bake the patch into the mandatory download- what's another 4 GB when you're already downloading 40? Sure, we could avoid that physical download requirement by properly QCing our game, but we already canned that team to save money.

If these publishers allowed developers to have properly run QC departments I'm sure it would just give these cretins ammunition to drive up the cost another $10 per game copy 🙄

I don't know that i agree. Remedy puts out some amazing games and content and every one one of them I think is quality from the beginning. Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Control, were all great products.
They are also selling at $10 below what normal PS5/XSX games are retailing for. Don't get me wrong I'd still prefer disc but this whole like "they're just greedy" and "they're just lazy" narrative feels a bit reductive.
The whole "needs a download" reason definitely sounds like PR speak because you're making us download something anyways, but this isn't a publisher like Take-Two or Activision (MS) that can absorb any type of loss and i can understand them trying to maximize profit by eliminating costs for discs.
Having said that this probably does mean i won't be a day one purchase and I'll wait until it's on sale or GP to PS+ etc.

Helldivers 2!? No one talking about this. I played the first one off/on for a long time, as recently as a few months ago with some friends. The sequel looks to take the top-down view to 3rd person. I think that's a good call.
If you're looking for a co-op challenge and Starship Troopers vibes, give Helldivers a chance!

Even if it ends up being a cinematic game like Asuras Wrath or a fully linear game, Im in. The combat looks THAT great!

Did any of you try that prologue demo of Alone in the Dark? I felt like it wasn't even worth the few minutes it took to download. First off, it was barely 10 minutes long (a bit over 4 minutes on my second attempt once I knew exactly where to go). Other than 2 minor jump scares it didn't really show how scary this game plans to be (you play as a little girl, so there was no combat against these monsters). Also the graphics did not quite look like I was playing a PS5 game, even when set to quality mode. Overall it just failed to make me want to pre-order this, which is the whole point of a demo. The Callisto Protocol, Dead Space and Resident Evil 4, this has been a good year for horror games, and based on this demo I'm not sure by the end of the year AitD will even be in the discussion alongside those 3.

How was the first Helldivers? I may have it as part of my PS+ collection over the years... maybe. but I suppose it's probably cheap enough.

DualSense drift is really starting to affect my enjoyment of Ratchet & Clank when I'm trying to hide behind cover from enemy fire and also have to stop Ratchet from walking off the edge of a platform. I'd just buy a new controller but the last time this happened it seemed to just stop after a couple of days. Since this is a PS4 game I can just use my DualShock4 at least, which hasn't given me this problem in the 8 years I've owned it.
I remember when this problem used to happen with cheap 3rd party controllers, but controllers cost as much as (or more than) games themselves now, this shouldn't be happening.

Just got another year of PS+ Premium with the sale they're doing. It came out to $97.75 instead of the usual $119.99 + tax. The thing that sucks though, it doesn't let me pay for PS+ with my debit card, instead I have to buy a prepaid PSN card from Best Buy and redeem the code to add the funds to my wallet and pay that way. My debit card isn't a problem, I literally used it yesterday around 9:30 to buy a game on sale in the PS Store.
The only plus side this time, I had a $5 off coupon for Best Buy, so I got the $100 prepaid card for $95 and technically saved myself a couple bucks. But I'd rather not have to jump through those extra hoops.
And for my previous post, I was able to finish Ratchet & Clank with my DualSense. Once again the stick drift magically went away on its own after a couple of days.

If you had a Costco membership, you couldve gotten that $100 psn for $80 which would be a bigger save. Ill have to check when mine expires

Who here has played Death Stranding? I finally started it, am currently about 90 minutes into it. Before I continue with it, I'd like to know what is the gameplay to cutscene ratio? I feel like in those 90 minutes I have been watching cutscenes way more than actually playing. If this keeps up for the rest of the game, am I missing anything important by just skipping the cutscenes (if they can be skipped)? It's a Kojima game, so even if I watch them I still likely won't understand what is happening anyway (I believe that to be true for most of the people who praise Kojima's work too).

It's a Hideo Kojima game. I haven't played it but based off past games I would say it leans more towards cut scenes than gameplay.
I've been wanting to play a bunch of PSP and Vita games again but don't feel like finding a system. Was happy to see Killzone Liberation on the June PS Plus Extra. Underrated game I'm looking forward to playing again.

You mean Mr. Walking Simulator 3000? I beat it. I mean I guess it’s ok if you like challenging yourself on how to walk from point A to B while not toppling over like Jenga.

It’s mostly gameplay. The cutscenes are just front and back loaded. It’s so much better than other Kojima games in that regard. After chapter 2 you’ll go long stretches without any cutscenes.
