Also, I want to say that it doesn't do this all the time. I can play for hours without issues, but select games will make it shut down. The games are Outriders and Biomutant ( both games caused the issue twice within and hour period). And it happened once on GoW

Different games tax the system in different ways.

Unsurprisingly, step one in finding out how to send your system in for repair is to try out their nifty website they spent a few hundred thousand dollars on:

https://www.playstat...

There's a thread for your specific problem where it actually directs you to set up a repair.

I recently took the plates off and cleaned all the dust and crap off, because I noticed recently the system was making a lot of noise and seemingly struggling (only on ps5 games, not ps4), i haven’t confirmed 100% it’s fixed now but I think it is. There was a shocking amount of dust in there

I'm going to second what DarkFact has been saying. Take it from someone who experienced this same issue you're describing. For me it all started and ended with Elden Ring. Elden Ring had issues from the get go, crashing and deleting saves. I had these issues. Eventually after patches, and cleaning the internal dust out of my console, plus a few other recommended tricks (like plugging the USB charger into the back or front only, forget which). The issues subsided for awhile, and I eventually beat Elden Ring and moved on to other games.

A couple months later my son begins playing Elden Ring, it crashed on him at various times during his many hours of playing. Each time it crashed now and when I was having the issues, I had to physically pull the plug from the console, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. The last time it crashed the graphics went haywire, freaking my son out, and the system shutdown. It never turned on again. The blue light would light up for two seconds and then shut off. Couldn't boot into safe mode, nothing.

I had my PS5 very close to launch, end of November I want to say. I just went through the repair process a few months ago. I was out of warranty because it had been a year and a half. It cost me $244.50 to send it in to Sony for them to fix. The turn around was quick, they have repair facilities here in the states. I sent it in and got it back all in a week's time or so.

I can't stress this enough, but BACK UP YOUR DATA, saves, photos, videos, everything. If it crashes and won't power on you're screwed. From what I can tell this crashing had to have lead to a hard drive/motherboard failure. Sony sent me back my console, but it was completely factory reset. I'm not sure if the original HDD is in it, but I'm guessing not. Everything was lost aside from my cloud saves.

I had a ps4 pro that had an HDD meltdown playing RDR2. It did similar stuff after running a bit and probably overheating- like 30 mins to an hour I’m guessing depending on how fast / hot it got. Eventually it died and the data was lost that I had not uploaded.

I was having issues with my PS5 overheating and shutting down on me a few months ago. Bought a Torx T-8 screwdriver and a can of duster and took out the fans for a deep clean. Haven't had an issue since.

No, it actually shuts off. I have to unplug the power cord before it even comes boots back up.. it's 100% def shutting off
Definitely seems like a faulty system. The fact that you have to replug the power maybe it's just the power brick? If you can somehow purchase just a brand new official power brick from sony that MIGHT solve your problem.

A power supply issue was one of the first things I thought when my issues started (details in my above post) as well. Unfortunately in this case the power supply is internal, making it tough to test. A new external cord to the wall likely won't do the trick. In my post above, I left out the part where I actually took my PS5 to a 3rd-party repair shop thinking I could get it fixed quicker and cheaper. They swapped out the internal power supply for a new one to test this theory and it didn't work. After waiting weeks for them to do this, which ended up being a waste of time, I was back to square one. At least the repair shop doesn't charge their customers for devices they fail to repair.

I had a series x that did this and then eventually would not come back on. They said it was the a/c port that was damaged. Fixed it and advised me to not let the cord have an extreme bend or tension.

ah ok, I assumed the power brick was on the outside with the PS5. Sorry. That really does suck and I'm sorry.

God of War Ragnorok- it’s a fun game but I find myself sighing when I see the huge set pieces / puzzles I’ll be working through- they feel tedious to me but they are well done. Combat is really good and very deep. Feels much better and I never feel as futile as I did against the hard level Valkyries etc in 2018. The voice actor choices seem off for a few toons. I’m not in love with this game but I’m not going to criticize it because it’s not 100% my thing. This game is best in class and 10/10 objectively. It just is. If you like GoW this is your magnum opus.

Damn, I might have to play this for a 3rd time. My favorite game of the modern era. Even the DLC is essential playing.

I just need to play this period... I tried. will have to make another attempt.

Not sure if I even own it on the PlayStation, I have it on PC (though I can't run it on that potato) and am in the process of selling my Xbox Series X, time to check the PlayStation store I suppose.

Taking a look at the PS Plus Premium games that just got added 2 days ago overall I would say I'm happy with the service so far and intend to renew at the end of the month. Guess I should finally play Skyrim. I tried to pick it up after the Witcher 3 but realized I really didn't want to start playing a long epic game again so soon after playing another one.

Looking forward to working my way through Kingdom Hearts with my boys, although whoever was in charge of naming these games should be fired.

I am looking forward to the Kingdome Hearts additions. But I agree, the service is still relatively new people complaining the games it offers now is kind of a snapshot of where society is right now. Everyone wants everything yesterday and don't realize it takes time to grow out a service. Prime, Netflix, Game pass, Apple TV all had issues at first and some of the newer once are still finding there way. Disney Plus even, though it took less time for them to find there way... though even now if I was not getting it for free I would not pay for it consistently and wait for a series to end it's season before subbing and binging and cancelling. Netflix and Prime are the only ones I am continually subscribed to... Prime, well it's really a no brainer and every time I go to unsub from Netflix it hears me and BAM there is something new to watch, that and my wife loves her true crime and there seems to be a never ending stream of it hitting Netflix. Point is, for the most part it takes time to build out a service and I am pleased so far with what Sony is doing. There is ALWAYS some big tittle to play.
