Makes me wonder if the rumors of the disc version being phased out are true. Supposedly a slim model with a detachable disc drive is supposed to launch later this year.

Crazy how about a year ago scalpers were getting an upwards of $750 still for a PS5 and now here we are where Sony is discounting it themselves.

I felt like cause of the pandemic and that chip shortage combo, this new console gen was a hot spicy mess.

Pandemic definitely contributed to the low production of early models, and the increased interest/free time.
I'm just glad it's more available and being discounted. Years later, and now it's FINALLY feeling like the generation is beginning. I may be in the minority, but the fact that everything was being hindered by last Gen hardware made owning both consoles year one feel unnecessary.

The abundance of great switch games and indies hasn't hurt either.
Really the only thing I got an Xbox Series X for was to finally enjoy the Forza Horizon series. (Have gotten some additional games since then of course)

I got a Series X first at launch and was fine with it for year 1 then I nabbed a PS5 but minus the small amount of PS5 exclusives the Series X suited me just fine for the first year. Now kinda sadly I favor the PS5 over the Series X for the most part. Between the more variety of exclusives and user friendly interface sorry not sorry Xbox.
