Other thread died. Playoffs about to happen. Not a ton of seeding drama outside of a couple games. Chiefs pissed away the 1 seed, although it was entertaining. Chargers-Raiders interesting. Rams-9rs. AB is a nut job. Anywho...

Thoughts on current awards lines (this is if you understand money lines)... I see what I think is a fairly low risk bet. Rodgers is currently -400 for MVP. National media is pushing hard for Rodgers being unanimous MVP. I think Brady has a chance, but Rodgers ain't doing anything to hurt his case this weekend, and Brady ain't setting records or taking the 1 seed. Enter my #2 guy, Kupp. He's likely winning the triple crown, and could beat CJ's single season yardage record. A $100 bet on Rodgers covers any losses on a $30 bet on Kupp. Rodgers wins, you get pocket change. Kupp wins you win a few hundred. Brady wins and you lose. Taylor has an outside chance, but he's not breaking any records or the 2000 yard mark in a 17 game season. The other bet, which might be better is bet 30 on Kupp for MVP and 100 for OpotY. He wins the triple crown and he should get one of them. Only think stopping him is if Chase gets 3 more TDs than Kupp, or Taylor has a historic game.

I budget $100 each season for bets. Haven't placed any this season. Thoughts from any casual betters?

(Also intend for this to be the general NFL thread for the post season.. not just betting thoughts though that's welcome)

Edit: Generic betting disclaimer: Bet for fun, don't bet what you can't lose, seek help if you have a problem, any thoughts in this thread are not representative of GameTZ or @Bill (lest he states something), this is not intended as financial advice., etc.

Pats @ Raiders:

In what world is a toe on the line inbounds and counted as a TD!?!? I have not seen this upheld in all my years of watching football. I thought the general rule is: if there is no color/space/grass between the toe and the white OB line, the play is OB.
image

Patriots / Jakobi Myers makes the most bone-headed of plays headed into what should have been OT. Why are we in desperation mode in the last play of regulation!? Game was tied! Why are we throwing laterals? End the play, end regulation, and play to win in OT. Terrible on every level. Pats offense is in shambles and there isn't just one person that deserves the blame. Undisciplined, poor play, bad mistakes. This is not all on Patricia. Jakobi should know WAY better then to throw a ball back to Mac Jones, who is all alone in the backfield with the D-line in his face. Ultimate embarrassment of a play. I didn't think I would live to see a Pats play more embarrassing then allowing the Dolphins to run back a TD on the last play of the game with Gronk in on Defense, but here we are.

Had to listen to the commentator say Derek Carr was "Mahomes-esque" when he shovel passed a ball on the run. Give me a break...

Other thoughts on the weekend, several good games.

Detroit is starting to look like a real contender and could definitely hand a few teams an upset should they make the playoffs. I'm hoping they do.
That Vikings comeback was so strange. Somehow they climbed back into the game, but they didn't even make it look good. It was just sub-par football against a BAD Colts team in the 2nd half.
Nice to see the Cowboys lose to the Jaguars. Have to bring them back down to reality every once in a while.
Does anyone want to win the NFC South?

I'm rooting for the Lions to sneak in as well.

Angles are a thing. Was clearly a TD.

Usually the Raiders are on the losing end of these things. Let them have it!

The end of his shoe is black. Compare it to his other shoe/foot. That look you posted shows pretty definitively that his toe was on the OB line. Kicking up white paint and all.

Oh, good catch. I guess it's payback for the tuck rule... better now than in the AFCCG.

Lol, these things do catch up to every team eventually.

...And now we have former Patriot Willie McGinest arrested for assault/with a deadly weapon...nice. Jumped a guy with two of his lackeys at a club.

At 51 years old no less. He always came across as such a nice guy on the NFL network. Was Marshall Faulk let go because of a violence related arrest?

Edit: It was a sexual harassment accusation that got Faulk. Him and Heath Evans & Ike Taylor were accused of harassing an NFL network employee.

First we had XFactor now another big Chiefs fan turns out to be a career criminal, mostly a bank robber.

That's probably why he always wore that wolf costume to the games. Avoid identification.

His current jail booking (publicly viewable) has wearing a mask in commission of a felony among the charges, wonder if it was the wolf mask lol. Date is the set court date.

Like who does that? I know first row seats are expensive, but who robs a bank? How many bank robberies go unsolved with today's technology/LE? Must have been pretty desperate/in a low place.

Wow, Carr is being benched and the team won't admit it but it may be so that he doesn't get hurt and can't pass a physical in a few months, so the Raiders can cut him to avoid paying him big money. Does Davante demand a trade if his buddy Carr is gone?

Looks like Feb 14-15th will be telling. Guarantees $23M of '23 money and $7M of '24 money. He's not a bad QB, easily better than half the starters. Raiders better off giving the old ST's coach the HC job rather than Josh.

Carr and the team reportedly agree to let him stay away from the team. Adams is like "bro, he's the reason I'm here." McDaniels doing it again?

New interim coach and first game is against Chiefs. KC better show up as this should be Denver's best effort of the year.

AFC Playoffs right now: Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert, Jackson, Tua.

As a Jags fan I almost can't believe where Lawrence has this team after last season and the beginning of this season. I know the Jags can't compete with the Chiefs, Bills or Bengals just yet, but hopefully with a few more pieces the Jags can stick around for several seasons. On the other side, with Brady and Rogers near the end of the road, it might be a long stretch of AFC dominance. I think Hurts will be damn good for a while but who else has potential to make a long, strong run in the NFC? Geno Smith? Dak?

Dude is impressive. I pull for him because he’s a GA boy even though he made a foolish mistake and went to Clemson.

That's a What If that I am thankful did not happen. Trevor in red and black would have been brutal to watch from a Gator perspective.

NFC Playoffs as of now: Hurts, Cousins, Purdy, Brady, Dak, Jones, Heinicke.

Still rooting for Detroit to make it, though if they don't I'm going for the NFC East sweep. Playoffs should be fun.
